When to start with WvWvW?
Depends. If you want to run around with a zerg it doesn’t matter what level you are. If you want to be effective with leveling, having an elite skill to use to tag as many players is quite useful.
If you want to roam solo or with a small group (5 people tops) anything under lvl 40 is painful for your team.
whenever you want. My current main leveled exclusively from 2 to 80 in wvw, that toon did not do anything pve until long after lvl 80 was reached (mostly just running around grabbing more SP and making sure i had access to dungeons on rare occasions a guildie asks me to help with one).
The higher the level you are the easier it gets for sure but any level can be useful (just follow the zerg/xp/karma train)
Remember that, if you die, any number of opponents may rally und win the fight due to this. But you may always kill dolyaks, capture camps (can still be done with enough people), start a sneak-attack or simply stand at garrison watergate to report to your commander about incoming golemrushes.
/edit: Yeah i forgot manning siege…but only if you aren’t one of those guys that keep shooting after mobs while sitting one a treb o.O

or man a siege equipment and watch as 40 unsupported golems die due to a boiling pot.
but i recommend joining W3 around the same level you get your elite skill. until then work on pve .
I generally will start around 11th level. The earliest I’ve ever started was 2nd level; however, you really feel gimped at that point (because it’s likely that you’ve not even proven up all your minimum weapon skills).
The single, critical skill to have as a lowbie/nub is a swiftness (run) buff. And if you your class can share the swiftness love… all the better. You can be useful in a zerg if you can 1) keep up, and 2) help others keep up.
Beyond that, it’s all fun. I’ve run in 2-3 man gank squads as low as 11th level.
Unless you are a whale of a misanthrope or a kitten hat space cadet, you’ll be fine in WvW at any level. It is really more about your mindset than it is your avatar and kit.
I enjoy starting at 30, that way I have all my utilities. Plus having somewhat of an idea on how to play the class effectively.
Heavens Rage
No reason not to start at level 2 if there aren’t any queue’s imo.
Any time after level 30 – if you like PvP you will have a blast all the way to 80. This is my opinion, but having that elite skill is pretty important to a good time! Also you have gear with better stat selections so you can focus a build to more your playstyle and what your class offers.

It is about 10x as easy to level in WvW after 30 than before it. At levels less than ten you will be getting ~10exp per kill. You will have to WvW for ages to get to 30 and that is when your class begins to shine.
Class, professions w/e.

Well, IMHO leveling in WvW is about 1% kills and 99% flippaging. You can earn from 4-6 levels in a casual evening if you get into the rhythm of some good zerg action. Swiftness (run) buffs are critical (oh yeah, I already said that)! YMMV.
The earliest Ive gotten a 1v1 kill on an 80 is lvl 5 blue gear thief.
To really enjoy wvw, definitely join one of the stronger guilds and get on comms. You will learn a lot, and there is actually quite a bit to learn.
As far as skills, your elite skills won’t make any difference really, it’s the level 80 gear that makes the difference. You can have fun leveling, but once you get your first 80 in exotics, you will see what a difference it really is.
You will be useful no matter what level you are, so don’t think you have to wait.
The most important thing is to have solid gear for your level. Buy atleast greens around your level for every slot and put upgrades in them. The upscaling works in your favor.
My lvl 30 twink mesmer in mostly rares has higher stats than most 80’s.
Well sure, you can have fun whenever but I like having all my buttons unlocked at the very least.
You can start at 11 but i would say wait until 30 then you have open all except elite skill.
if your a thief then it doesn’t matter when you start, if you are any other class stick to the zerg because you will get destroyed by thieves within a second and unless you are thick skinned it may put you off WvW.
You can play WvW at any level and gain decent experience if you run around and cap supply camps/kill dolyaks. The higher you get the more experience you will get obviously and you could get a quite few levels a day easily just by playing WvW for an hour or two. Plus you are helping out your server/borderland by keeping supply out of enemy towers/keeps.

I am lvling an alt entirely thru wvw.. Am currently lvl 50 now.. I still get 1 shot by backstabbing thives from time to time..but i just cannot do pve..
I would have got most of my xp from ressing ppl though..its the best way to safely contribute to a fight.
I’ve leveled 3 level 80s all in WvW, onto my 4th one now.
You can start WvW whenever you want, there are a lot of people who have done almost none of the PvE stuff and went straight into WvW.
There are lots of things to do in WvW, but as said the problem is that as you are low level with low gear you are pretty weak and will die a lot.
But that is what WvW is, if you go in expecting not to die, then it isnt the place for you.
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
WvW, we only care if it affects the servers we play on.
Yup, you can start whenever you want, as long as you don’t mind dying. Best to stick to the zerg when you’re low level.
