Where are the......... LADDERS ????
How about a rope with a hook?

Am I the only one that thinks this is strange?
the reason we don’t have ladders is because they would be impossible to balance.

I would also like to see Mantlets to help protect the attackers from arrows…

You balance them up against your enemy’s fortified walls.
Duh.
We can build a highly complex Siege Golem which is powered by Xeon Gas Fusion Accelorators…
Oh, ladders?… WAYYYY too complicated.
Give me a break.
Lets build helicpters while we add it and mae nuclair mobs to wipe out a single server i bet Asura can create them with easily
There aren’t enough bridges for all of you to live under.

Wouldn’t it be sweet if we could launch satillites into orbit to spy on our enemy’s troop movements?
“Oh noes they are building a ladder up the west wall”
“Everyone stack on me and wait for them to start climbing”
“Hold, ok, 3,2,1 everyone KICK the ladder down off the wall”
“Yay, look at them all fall over, now AOE to finish them off”

that would actually be fun to knock people’s ladders over, and they suffer fall damage.
And while we’re at it, why aren’t the toons forced to eat and sleep at regular intervals? Or excrete waste?

That would be awesome immersion.
I would deficate all over Tyria.
I would deficate inside of giant treasure chests at the end of the jumping puzzles.
Since an “OP is either a troll or pretty stupid” warranted me a post delete/warning, can you moderators guy please close thread such as this one and possibly warn people who mistake this forum as their personal blog?
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
The real purpose of walls and doors is to slow people down and give defenders a chance to respond. It’s boring sitting in a tower for 2 hours waiting for an attack, so sieges are meant to take a little bit of time, even against an empty tower, in order to give the defending team a chance to notice and come do something.
Ladders would allow anyone to capture pretty much anything in about 30 seconds, unless a strong defender presence was stationed there 24/7.
A game that’s 100% WvW

I’m not a troll, it is a serious observation.
One of the most common siege weapons in the middle ages was the ladder.

The NPC’s could be programmed to automatically attempt to knock over ladders of a smallish-attack squad.
So perhaps NPC’s could hold out on 4-5 ladders.
How common was the autonomous golem on the middle ages battlefield, or powered armor suits?
And magic?
There are two reasons you’ll never see ladders in WvW.
The first is the mesmer portal skill. What’s that? You let one mesmer sneak onto the walls? Too bad, enjoy the 40+ attackers suddenly on the walls beating your face in.
The second is the fact that ladders run counter to all other current siege weapons. All current siege weapons rely on destroying while ladders rely on bypassing defenses. This will create redundancies where other siege weapons are not used in the least. Why would you fight the guards near the gate to place a ram when you can build a ladder on an empty wall? Why would you build a catapult to knock down the wall when you can climb it with a ladder? Why would you build Boiling Oil over a gate when they can build ladders instead of a ram?

Ladders would be interesting…..But… there are no animations for this.
No animations = no Ladder climbing.
I do predict we will see more Siege Weapons and ways to increase the defenses.
One is the Mesmer’s portal ability- Allow keeps to have the ability to magic defend walls which keep this ability to be used on a keep/castle or tower.
Anet could have fun mixing up magic and tech for these new tools.
They could put NPC soldiers to walk along the walls and knock over ladders… so you would need a good 20+ people with ladders to take a tower
ladders would be so epic

If it takes 20+ people with ladders to take a tower, what’s the point? Build two catapults and knock down the wall instead. You’ll accomplish the same thing with less supply.

I can definitely see them adding additional siege weapons in the future, but not siege ladders.
