Siegeing:
My suggestion is incredibly simple. Divide all the values by about 7. The keep starts with a supply cap of 70 instead of 500. The max supply is 240 instead of 1700. Dolyaks now carry 5 supply non upgraded instead of 35. And so on, the values of upgraded dolyaks and keep upgrades can be adjusted accordingly. The result of this is that the upgrades and speed of achieving the upgrades is exactly the same. All values were divided by ~7 so everything is relative. However, the actual supply which a player can withdraw to build siege and repair with is now less. Basically you cannot build an insane advantage overnight that will aid into primetime. The reward for nightcapping should be the points, now also dominating primetime.

Realy like this idea and most of the other suggested fixes that Jakie posted. Hope some Anet Devs read this stuff cuz this would realy improve our WvW experience and bring back some fun to the game.

Iam lost. Riot went ROS, course kitten VCY followed.

But then just 1 question… why VOTF allso followed in like 1 week later…..to look for fair fights? And now U whine about getting zerged all over at US?

Anyways a small bit more constructieve? Dont blame A-net other then for the skill lag maybe (and no iam deffo no fan-boy).

Blame the ppl that blob:(

And in any “open world” pvp game, the sakkers will allways zerg/blob U.

Imo, there was/never will be a game with an open pvp were there will be no zerg to gank U wot so ever.

Unrelated question but since you asked, we went to RoS because it was our home server from launch. We had buffs on it and it was a medium pop so we had a cheap transfer. Everybody keeps talking about how the lower tiers has interesting fun fights and we were hoping to find unexpected competition. The fact was this was not the case. Everybody complained and we were frankly in the wrong tier. No other guilds in that tier from our opponents were able to field a 25 man raid as consistently as we were. I have kitten of camping GH keep on EB only 30 mins into reset, so without a doubt we didnt belong in that tier.

We did everybody and ourselves a favor and removed ourselves from that tier because it was unfair. Also we are not in the US. We went to Augury Rock after RoS and have been there for 2 months or so. AM was the r11 server if I am not mistaken, so that blob is from “tier 4” in old terms, or simply r10 vs r11 vs r1x. We didnt exactly go to a high populated server or anything so you cant really start having a go at VoTF and their server selection.

I can blame Arenanet for not designing a game that inherently hinders or counters blobbing. I already outlined in my post above how combat can be changed to allow a small force to overcome blobbing. So frankly yes, it is Arenanets fault and had they been more competent it would not have been an issue. Blobbing can be fixed, in this game, the future games and the past games. Any failure to do so is still the fault of the developers.

The game has been circling the toilet bowl for awhile, pretty much since the introduction of WXP. The system could have done so much to make the game better, less zerg based, and instead they put in a system that made it worse and then proceeded to spend every patch since working on siege weapons.

Catering to the lowest common denominator in the end makes for a boring game that lacks challenge.

The only solution to get rid of these mega blobs would be deleting the commander tags.
No commanders in wvw will most likely reduce dem blobs, though it’s not the perfect solution because the pugs will not enjoy wvw anymore, (running around without a clue) and since pugs are the majority of wvw, Anet would lose alot of players.

During the initial few weeks of GW2 there were significantly less Commanders running around WvW,
I assure you, people still knew how to blob without any trouble.

The only solution to get rid of these mega blobs would be deleting the commander tags.

Maybe for a week or two.

Is already possible to use the “party up and target leader” trick for zerg without commander tag. Especially if on a Voip – and a lot of servers have a public TS or similar platform. And even taking in account a super casual player w/o Voip neither target on leader, blobs are so large that some of them just follows the movement of the mass of players there wouldn’t be a noticeable difference.

Not really a solution overall, imo – as long as blobbing is so much profitable and easy to do, you can drop any restriction, players will find a way.

What is needed imo, on this particular topic, is making splitting up profitable. One thing over all, larger maps and more objectives, encouraging fighting on multiple fronts but in smaller (20ish) scale. And restrict much more the WP mass porting. And flash bulding of siege.

It wouldn’t make blobbing impossible, ofc. And a small scale zerg would stll be crushed encoutering a blob (20 vs 80).
But while a group get wiped and keep busy the blob, you’ll have other 3 groups of 20 players each hitting and conquering other 3 places – and in a bigger and WP-less map blob will not be able to counter them all at once, even if winning when picking up fight with them.

In other words, splitting get encouraged. Blobbers might still do it, but they will lose over time due to not be able to defend multiple objectives at once due to larger maps. And after some time, “blobbing = losing” will make ppl turn away from it.

Oh, also. I recall Anet saying that maps can’t be bigger due to technical problems.
Assuming that raw size can’t be upgraded by a millimeter, 2 hints:
-BLs have a TON of wasted space filled with meaningless mobs. Centaurs, skritts, spiders and the terrible waste of space of the huge lake. Get rid of all of this and – tadaaaa – you have room for at very least 3 more objectives.
-Increase map number (like placing other 3 BLs) and reduce map cap. Overall number of ppl in WvW per server MUST stay the same. Just force them to split by increasing the number of maps and allowing less ppl per map in.

Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.

Thumbs up for all the ideas coming from people who rack their brains making this game more exciting and more competetive. Tbh I doubt Anet will implement any of these ideas because they need to watch what the majority wants and unfortunately the majority are the casual gamer. Nevertheless we should provide more suggestions so Anet can finally adress the root of the problem of WvW.

General Fun:

World Ranks were a cool idea but bad implementation. I am of the opinion that people should be rewarded for their play but not by power (aka fortitude) but by recognition. An idea that came to mind is, that in a given wvw play session the progress of a player is tracked. Number of fortifications taken, # of fortifications defended, dolyaks killed, dolyaks escorted, number of player kills. The top 3 highest on a given map in a single play session get a noticeable glowing aura in 1 of 5 colors that corresponds to the event they are leading at.

I really like this idea. Reminds me of the Cut-throat event from Path of Exile. A race where you mess with other people for a day/week/month. The guy with the highest rank wins but on his road he can encounter other competetors and kill them.
I could imagine such an event for GW2 as well tbh.
This wouldn’t solve the zerg problems but it would bring up a real competition for roamers into WvW. Anet should srsly keep this in mind. I would love it. <3

You can’t complain about the problem when you’re the reason for the problem….

Best post so far in this thread.

There are simple solutions for the problems:
a) anet introduces gvg arenas, for those guilds who are really interested in pvp.
b) stop the random matchmaking system, which puts high tier servers against low tier servers, ‘cause from the low tier servers point of view any group from the other server will always be a blob.
c) all guilds who still think wvw is only about either farming pugs (with no voice com most of the time) or whining because those pugs start to build blobs just quit the game. i doubt you’ll be missed.
d) all (pretending) “gvg-guilds” transfer to low wvw-pop servers, ignore the siege part and fight each other while roaming between towers and keeps.
e) increase mapsize slightly.
f) debuff/dot when more than 10 people from the same team are close to each other. though just on open field, would be hard to siege with 10

i’d favor the combination of a), b) & f). :p

Great suggestions Jackie, i’ve posted very similar suggestions myself on these forums. Unfortunately, they went unnoticed. But perhaps yours will get some attention and the changes that NEED to happen, will.

I’m with you 100%.
