So I’ve been trying out WvW lately and found out that zerging with 20+ other people are the best thing in any mmo ever.
But as far as i know you earn lootbags by tagging/damaging a lot of enemies correct?
So to maximize the reward from killing a lot of enemies I assume you want to tag as many of them as possible? and there is my question, what class would be best at tagging a lot of enemies fast?

Necromancer. Prepare to have lots of open slots in your bags

Guardian staff 1 spam. Necro is a close second.

Engineer with a rifle static discharge/grenade hybrid build and zerker gear. Prepare for loot bags galore

This post made me so sad. I kind of wish they would take loot out of WvW for this exact reason. Maybe then people would learn to play opposed to spamming “1”.

Yeah

To be fair though, staff Guard is #1 for a Cmd Tag. Survive everything, push into enemy zergs, speed buff allies, wall off choke points…

Just saying some of us spamming 1 know how to do other things as well =P

Don’t knock #1 spam.

It’s usually the only skill working.

Thief is the absolute best class at tagging enemies

All you need is shortbow, and spam Choking Gas

This thread itself shows that there is a problem… no care as far as best to help the team… just what can I tag for loot. Shouldn’t have to choose one vs the other.

If they took loot out of WvW, I’d stop playing. It’s not like WvW is CHEAP to play!

If you think a Necro comes anywhere near a Thief in terms of tagging people (Note I said tagging, Not actually being amazing at zerging, a thief is no where near in that regard to a Necro and Guardian) but Tagging a Thief has no equal.

You can lay out a massive area over and over again hitting ANYONE who runs through it… and once they’re hit and take damage, they’ve been tagged..

Think a Plague Form you can use whenever you want with no cooldown.

It is probably a shorter list to come up with the classes that aren’t good at tagging. For the ones that are good that I can vouch for:

Necromancer
Engineer
Guardian

The ones that others vouch for:

Thief
Elementalist

The ones who I cannot vouch for:
Warrior
Ranger
Mesmer

Ranger with a longbow, increased range, and piercing arrows. Hits everything.

If the answer isnt “Engineer with Grenadier trait”, the answer given to you was wrong.

Nothing can come close to Engineer when it comes down to hitting multiple enemies.

I’m not sure a couple of ticks from choking gas is enough to score a tag for loot. I’m convinced you need to do 500-1000 DMG for a good chance of a bag.

Spamming choking gas is pretty useful for the zerg tho. Wouldn’t want people healing now would we?

Just use any aoe skill with any class. Even on my warrior i can have lootbag heaven in open field zerg fighting. (longbow F1 skill + nr 3 skill)

Dagger Storm, or run through spamming cluster bomb, pop stealth…. Or both.
