Which profession contributes most to www?

I’m not interested in JP camping or solo roaming to do 1 vs 1. I don’t have the need to get most kills but to actually play www in order to get the server points?

Which profession makes the server win?

Or is it just about huge zerg vs zerg spamming most AoE? In that case necro / elem would do well, right?

Could someone with experience perhaps make a list with pros cons?

Good against glasscannons
Quite difficult to kill
Fast

Cons:
Bad in zergs (cannot get in range without getting more condition that can be cleansed)
Cannot kill bunkers
locked in short range cannot deal with sieges

Staff:
pro:
Good in zergs
Very good at wall defence
good fields
decent in sieges
Tags lot of people

Cons:
Free kill in 1VS1
dies really fast (needs glass cannonish build to be effective)
Necro and mesmers covers his roles better
Allies may not like his fields covering mesmers and necros

S/F
Pros:
can destroy treb and catapult shots
really durable
lot of antiprojectile
aoe dmg is quite decent

Cons:
His skills cannot hit anything moving (not good at dueling)
900 range is sometimes not enough
Slowest profession ever……

dunno don t like it seems a solution for D/D range issues at the cost of having few useful skills for every situations instead of all your skills for few situations.

Mesmer:
Glamour build seems really one of the top 3 in www (if not the 1st) for support utility dueling and stuff.

Shatter build is usually to squishy :|

But i m still testing……

depends, thiefs gank everything, memsers open up tactics, ranged/aoe dps is essential for cleaning walls and nuking mobs, warriors and guardians can provide essential support and man siege when things get bad (or just kill things), etc….chose the playstyle you think you’ll enjoy the most :O)

Mesmer contributes most to WvW with portal.

If you want to contribute to the team effort, then either guardian or mesmer. Guardian throws out alot of boons and heals, and line/ring of warding can be a gamechanger. Mesmer just has ridiculous utility with portal, veil, timewarp, null field, feedback.

However, if you just want to tag lots of hostiles for epic lootz/XP, then any range class will work. Thief shortbow, Ele staff, Necro, Engineer grenades, Ranger longbow, Mesmer GS/Staff, even Guardian staff/sceptre, can all tag plenty in large group actions. The only classes that struggle there are melee classes, because in zerg battles you can’t stay in melee range hitting things for very long. Even full-bunker guardians will eventually have to fall back.

Roaming alone or in small groups (less than 5) is a whole different story, but you said that doesn’t interest you.

My main is a ranger and I love the play style. I just wished ranger could contribute a little more though.

I have a level 30 warrior, but imo it’s a very boring play style. I have also a lvl 30 thief which I enjoy more than the warrior but I dont think www needs another thief?! I see too many thieves.

It’s a close race between guardian and elementalist……

Staff ele’s are combo field generators….Nuff Said.

P.S. Guardians and a hammer warrior jumping into the middle of a zerg is pretty fun though
