Who deserves priority in WvW queues

FIFO, LIFO, Random? Should someone sitting in the queue for 10 minutes have priority over someone who has been in there 1?
Also why doesn’t it tell us the average queue duration and if they adjust the selection mechanism tell us where we are in the queue (1 of XYZ).
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I disagree. I deserve the spot more than anyone, not bcause I am more important anyone in the game, but I am more important than anyone. Ever.
Of course FIFO (first in first out) would help. Amazed that queues haven’t worked this way from the start…… Why even call it a que if it isn’t really a que…..
I agree with that noone got the priority first come first serve
Those are my opinion and what i’m thinking of it.
Anet fix hacker. You are losing player because they can’t trust the game to be fair.

Because it’s a pool randomly taking people in its not a queue. But apparently a “fix” should be in, in December or January.

I said it should act like a real queue, not sure what you are asking me.

Nobody.
No one is more important than the other and everyone paid to play the game so they all deserve a fair chance to play WvW. I understand where many of you are coming from with these threads on how to change the queues, but they need to stop. Almost every thread with an idea wouldn’t work and Anet wouldn’t support it.
A queue should simply act like a queue and thats it.
I agree. Because everybody contributes equally to WvW.

+1, Completely agree. Now if we could only get this principle applied to commander tags and the bullkitten hierarchy that comes with it. Everybody paid to play the game, why does the fool with 100 less gold get to be in charge.

No, this principle shouldn’t be added to commander tags… Yea the way you get one right now is really silly and has no value with in itself. However you need to find commanders worth following and stick to them, people have been complaining about people with tags that don’t really know what to do with them since launch, get over it.
If you’re coming from the perspective that you know a lot about wvw and you want to lead, but don’t have the money/desire to spend it then learn how to make more money and just get the tag so you can show what they’re meant for.
Plus, one last note: Everyone paid to play the game, that doesn’t mean everyone paid to win. I.E. not everyone gets a legendary just for showing up, or ascended gear, and definitely not a commander tag.

There is nothing to ‘get over’ here. I do have the money, I’ve had the money for 12 months now and I do not want a tag. What I want is for people to work together without getting spoon fed orders. What I want is for the casual player to feel like they can engage in WvW without a commander present. Everyday whenever a commander tags down in EB all I see in map chat is people complaining about not knowing what to do. I want them to learn how to play.
I agree that the current method for acquiring the tag is silly and I agree that following good commanders versus bad one makes sense. My point is that the broader hierarchy of the commander system is hurting the game and should be looked at.
Also, your ‘last note’ makes no sense in the context of this conversation. This is not a situation where play-to-win applies.

Nobody deserves priority, however calling it a queue is outdated. It is clearly a lottery.
Nobody deserves priority, however calling it a queue is outdated. It is clearly a lottery.
Its also because groups get priority over individuals.
Example. A friend is in queue for 30min, i join his party and queue the same borderland. 1min later this friends queue pops, because im in his party (and on the same map!) my queue also pops. Despite only having been queued for 1min.
I just got boosted to the front of the queue at the expense of someone else that has been waiting a lot longer then i have.
And there is even an exploit that lets a character act like a taxi by not taking the queue. The people in his party get boosted to the front, and when in they leave party and new people join and they too get boosted to the front. Over and over.
So if you were actually given an accurate number of your place in line you would litterally see it go up at times, instead of down, as the system boosts players ahead of you.
Its also because groups get priority over individuals.
I dont think you have any evidence to support this claim ? My queue-time is usually about 30% smaller while im not in a group, which would contradict your statement
@topic
although i would like to have an advantage for players with a higher wvw rank in the queue ( higher rank => you play and contribute more to wvw ) i agree there should be no priority

The problem with that idea is that you can’t really get rid of the system at this point, and a lot of people do wander around, not knowing what to do. However there’s no way to really fix that, because a lot of people choose to be spoon-fed orders, and as far as organization goes the big blue Dorito in the sky helps people find the group. Otherwise map chat would be constantly asking where the group is and very possibly to the same extent it is now. If you want them to learn how to play, then learn how to teach, otherwise the commanders will keep taking advantage of mindless zergs with no better plan.
My apologizes about the last note not making sense. When you said “Everybody paid to play the game, why does the fool with 100 less gold get to be in charge” I assumed you were complaining about the money itself which lead me to legendaries and ascended gear.

Because SOMEONE has to be in charge if you want to be effective in WvW. The person who spends 100g are, for the most part, interested in making that happen and have shown more dedication to that then most who do not drop the cash for the blue Dorito. Now we can argue about HOW you get the commander tag (100g is not representative of leadership, though those who choose to spend the gold do for the most part, want to lead and want to learn to lead better. Would be better if it was sold with 1000 badges or something instead), but to argue that commander’s shouldn’t take charge in WvW is shooting your server in the foot. It doesn’t mean all commanders are created equal, and you don’t have to listen to them if you don’t want to… just have a little bit of respect for people that tirelessly work to push your server forward.

Very true, and I’ve found that those who really want to make a difference and better their server will ask for help from an experienced comm or do training sessions if their server provides them.

What’s the point of arguing over queue priority if we already have changes coming with WvW overflow and queue revamp?
When that goes live, we may find ourselves in completely different environment with different kinds of problems and queue times may cease to be one of them.
I’m sure devs already made up their mind on how exactly they want queue system to change so… I’d sit back and wait to see what’s coming.
And ignore those threads. I’m sure devs do

Evidence to support his claim
You should check your definition of Evidence.
First of he doesn’t show THAT it works, but only explains how it works.
Second point is that it is clearly a bug (if it works) and no feature of the queue.
In addition to that its probably not even group related but rather the fact that the first of the queue from that zone moved to a different place, thus moving the new guys that joined the zone and queued, up to the top of the queue. Since they are in a group and teamspeak/mumble they can coordinate and time the relogging and queuing, which makes it seem group related.
And pretty much this tricky bullkitten you have to pull off makes it clear that it doesnt favour groups. In order to say it favours groups it should also work when people group up and queue up at random, but still get the invite to the borderland in a small timeframe

It works. Plenty of people have seen it work firsthand.
It’s also not just a zone-related thing. This gets queues popping for people in the party all at once, within a minute or two a lot of the time, when queuing randomly in the same zone or a anywhere else can take up to hours even if done at the same time.
It’s certainly a bug and not a feature. Queues are incredibly broken right now and this is the one consistent thing people have been able to figure out.
Should be first in line, goes in first, second in line, goes in after first, and so on. If you reenter queue, you should go to the back of the line.
people in que should be transported to an 8 v 8 v 8 spvp match – losers wait, winners go in game :p the opponents would be people from the other servers in que also – so you fight for your right to be in wvw , scrubs get least priority and end up spending more time in spvp trying to win the right to get into wvw. ^.^

Because it is not a queue. It is retrying to join a map with a varying delay between retries. Exactly the same as for overflow mechanics.
Your client and the server itself have no clue how many people are “queuing” because there is no queue mechanism at all right now. Just client retrying with a varible amout of delay between retries.
Assuming latter quote holds any water, behaviour in former quote may be explained by intervals being synchronized to some extent in group. But it does not mean this group gets some priority over lone queued character.
Because SOMEONE has to be in charge if you want to be effective in WvW. Yeah, I have to disagree with you on that one. I started doing WvW a couple weeks after launch and back then we had almost no commanders. That experience was amazing, fun, and everything you could ask for from a cooperative PvP experience, and it was all done without commanders. What people did back then was they worked together. They shared intel in team chat and shared knowledge about strategy when it was appropriate. People moved around the map as needed when the enemy was spotted and worked together to coordinate upgrades, escorts, and anything else that needed to be done. Everybody felt like they were playing a vital role in the match.
Now to offer up as fact the notion that ‘SOMEONE has to be in charge’ is a little ignorant. Why does someone have to be in charge inside a computer game? Having a little blue icon to follow around when you want to zerg is useful, but the idea that a commander is ‘In Command’ of a zone and that they are in charge of all the players in that zone is disrespectful to those players. Nobody has the right to tell another player what to do, and a commander tag certainly doesn’t change that.
And the idea that 100g = dedication is nonsense. I have easily spent hundreds of gold on upgrades and blueprints for my server in the 13 months I have been playing WvW, but by your logic I am not a dedicated player because I don’t have a tag? What about the commanders with 1000AP and a commander tag they bought with a credit card, are they more dedicated then I am?
The real people that work tirelessly to push a server forward are the ones that don’t care about seeing their name on the map.

An even better idea that I know ANet will love:
When you enter queue, you get put into randomly into a zone that’s either a giant underwater sPvP match, and winner goes in… OR Mad King’s clock tower. And you can go in when you finish.
Right, except this would cause an outcry among those who are only trying to get their PvE achievements like world completion/leggy or JPs done. And if you are for removing PvE incentives from WvW altogether, that would solve the problem by itself rendering al those funny ideas unnecessary. Well, to the extent but anyway.
Also, any of you guys heard about something called WvW overflow? Anyone?..
(edited by Yaro.3251)
i don’t know, I think people would love doing something till they are accepted in que,
I know often when I’m in que and I start finding something else to do, the enter option comes up at the most inconvenient times – at least the spvp matches will keep people entertained in a pvp theme kind of way – rather than sit staring into space in la – or doing something like a personal story and getting the “BL is ready” message when you are almost finished – you really don’t want to kill the event you are almost done with for the que and you really don’t want to re-enter the que. – the current que system is very counter intuitive.

I’m going to ignore the generally feminine-hygiene-producty tone of your response and point out that “the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid,” would most certainly include a video detailing the exact process through which groups can be used to manipulate the queue. Under the circumstances, a video explaining how it works is infinitely more useful than a 5 sec clip of a queue pop with zero commentary as to how it was achieved.
That aside, it’s definitely a bug due to the overall poor design of the “queue,” but it’s also still a feature. Not an intended feature, but a feature nonetheless.
Assuming latter quote holds any water, behaviour in former quote may be explained by intervals being synchronized to some extent in group. But it does not mean this group gets some priority over lone queued character.
True, the system does not intentionally prioritize groups over soloqueuers, but if someone is using this glitch, the end result is that the guy in the group got a pop for him and all his friends before the guy who queued solo, and now there’s 4 extra people in the BL who’ll need to leave before the solo gets his pop.

If you are dealing with a lengty queue and someone from your guild or friend has been queue’d for a while, join his group, join his map, join the same queue. When his queue pops, so will your queue.
I dont have any YT video or something handy to “proof” anything. But we do this all the time in the guild. Someone happens to have been queue’d for a while, join his/her group and queue for the same borderland. When his/her queue pops so does the queue for the rest of the party.
Even if the rest of the party has only been in the queue for a few minutes.
Or dont believe me. I really dont care. I know it works, and i am taking generous advantage of this flaw in the queue system to not have to wait an hour-plus to play.
If you are dealing with a lengty queue and someone from your guild or friend has been queue’d for a while, join his group, join his map, join the same queue. When his queue pops, so will your queue.
We’ve tried that several times. Never worked.
Once we even had a guy who had been waiting for like 20 minutes, another guildie joined his group, queued and got in immediately while the first one was still in queue.
