Guild Wars 2

I ran a WvW guild for a year on a lower tier server. On average we had 50 – 80 members at any given point. Across that whole time, across every single member, I can safely say that the absolute vast majority played only WvW or played WvW as their primary game mode. Personally I play and played all game modes (though I’ve drifted from WvW cause it’s dead and blobby).

The problem isn’t even that Mike has said these players are the exception, it’s that players who even choose WvW as their primary game mode are neglected.

See the problem isn’t that WvW doesn’t have enough players and activity to bother investing serious development time into, it’s that WvW hasn’t got enough content to maintain players. Why would people bother jumping into WvW when there is no support for it.

Why would PvE or PvP players jump into WvW? The rewards are terrible, it’s the same content that’s been there for 3 years and the barrier to entry is so high. Why would they when they can just jump into EoTM for some free karma.

If the devs actually spent time with this game mode and gave it some proper rewards it would be a thriving and fantastic thing, but it isn’t.

It’s the same reason fractals see next to no play and yet the big farm areas like Silverwastes do.

technically Mike O is kinda right since their are pve elements in every game mode lol

I play mainly wvw when I’m not in LA. I usually ONLY do the wvw dailies. There are several people in my guild who also play similarly, and many on my friend list who do the same.

I like it when people start making up their own rules and then act all surprised when nobody follows them.

I know my guild is almost all WvW oriented. Occasionally someone will make a legendary or needs money for siege and goes to SW, but it’s mostly WvW (and pvp…when not a lot of people are on we do pvp)

I’d say most people I know who play almost only WvW also play pvp, so does that count???
Other than that, most people who play WvW play WVW

Solo players are not fighting anyone , they are PVD since they would not be solo if they actually had other players to fight with and against. Running interference is all part of playing with a team, as a team, you are supposed to have players cutting off the players running back from spawn. Those are not " solo players" as they are actually working with their team. Solo players are the ones soloing towers and get mad if anyone shows up… LOL

Players who get mad about other players being on the map, get mad about being face rolled by a havoc or a zerg, get mad because someone killed that guy before they did.. yes they should go play a single player rpg because this is a game made to be played with people and against people.

Most players who get face rolled by a zerg while running interference don’t get mad about it, they just realize it comes with the territory. Running interference is just another position on the team, but a part of the team none the less. It is boring as hell when you are running interference and there is no one to kill.. as what happens currently on low tier servers.

I only play WvW but typically im really in to PvE…

Ofc “no one plays WvW only”.
When you can’t even salvage the gear you get in WvW,
when all the goals you got regarding armour,weapons,
and all other gear can be obtained 10 times faster in PvE,
when 99% of the updates to the game regard PvE…..
When Anet channels players to PvE that way,and does almost
nothing for 3 years to further develop WvW,is it any wonder their
metrics show them that everyone does PvE also?

Dear Anet.
I you see my metrics,and I appear to be liking PvE more than RvR,
I don’t.
It’s just that you treat your WvW players as second class citizens in terms of
everything really ,and that your RvR mode is lacklustre.

How depressing!

I stopped playing the game for about a year when the WvW scene on my server was RIP. I’ve returned recently to catch up on living story (GW2 is basically a single-payer RPG to me now that WvW is a bust), hoping that something may have been done to improve WvW as well, or that something was at least in the works.
And what I see are promises of an EOTM-like new map? Geez. If that’s what they wanted to do, they should have just put those manhours toward something else.

No, I’m not a WvW-only player, because ANET has continued to make it something I don’t want to play.

I play the game for WvW, but need money for seige and food. So about 10% of my time is in World Bosses, Orr, or Silver Wastes.

If I could only play WvW I would. Because the PVE in this game is lame, and the old WoW ruined PVP after Wrath.
