Who was EoTM made for?
#And for Unpopulated servers to see how a real karma train works.
jesus kitten everyone knows how a karma train works, the kittened map blob circlejerks are just more common in high tiers cuz all the farmer fools left low tiers. there just arent that many people in low tiers and the 20 man train can actually be threatened by a small group of dedicated defenders. and the big blob leaders arent uncompetitive piece of kitten SOBs, cuz you dont earn respect and followers by ignoring the objectives that < 5 of your mates put hard earned gold into.
just wow.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
China. It was made for the Chinese or did you think only NA/EU matters?
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
its a giant hammer train racetrack for servers already winning in wvw. there is no reason for red or blue server players to go there as there is always actual wvw areas outnumbered to play in.
I would like to see links on where Anet said they wanted this for a specific reason. People say “Anet wanted EotM for X or Y reason” and I don’t remember them saying any of that

There will be massive battles, epic sieges, stirring defenses, and crushing defeats on this map. We want as many people as possible to be playing WvW and as we expand into other territories we want to make sure they don’t experience the massive queues that we saw at launch in NA/EU.”
The problem with Devon’s response is that EotM is about 3 or 4 months too late. There hasn’t been queues in NA T1 servers since the leagues ended (dunno if Euro T1 has queues). Last week I could join any map at any time w/o a queue. That’s the thing people at ANet should be looking at.

Well, yeah. You don’t rush it into the game during the middle of a season. You prepare it before the next season starts.
I like the new map, i love the chaos and people from other servers. I wasnt bored, i found noobs and veterans alike. Had some epic battles last night, a nice change from fighting the same zerg over and over.
For those of you complaining and wanting balanced matches and this and that… its not ment to be balanced. If you are outnumbered use the terrain to your advantage. You will never have balance, thus you must be smart as to how you fight your fights.
Plus, never forget, that we play to have FUN, not to appease elitist guilds….
I’m waiting for things to calm down before really playing in there. But so far, the walking distances are annoying me a bit.
I feel the map will take a little getting use to cover. I think adding in more WP contections will really help in getting from the rear to front of the zone where the action is taking place. They did something like this in DAoC and it was a instant hit; it also gave realms a reason to safe guard their keeps to maintain a unboken line of WPs to get players faster into the action.
I think the upgraded NPC are great, none of that one/two man taking a major point of interest on the map. Make it part of the regular BLs, do away with the overflows, that creates tons of confusion.
I don’t plan to go back in until retal/confusion are changed from their pve values to wvw values.
Its a blast for thieves. I luv it except for the fact that everywhere I go I withdraw off a cliff and say ahhhhhh!!! alot
In terms of fighting other players it’s worse than every other map by far, especially if you are in lowish numbers (10 or less). The map is really pretty, has some new “mechanics”, but the geometry is terrible for fighting of basically every size. Forget solo roaming, the few open areas there are have freaking allied champion mobs.
The one function it does fufill is being able to fight anyone/guild you want in a pve ruleset, which is cool. Hopefully they fix the bugs and it becomes a wvw ruleset so I don’t take 2k retaliation damage per second. It would help GvG’s if it was possible to take a big group anywhere without a million adds plus pve ret/confusion.
Honestly the only play the map will get after a few months is 1) if they keep PvE content in there updated 2) for t1 queues 3) for GvG’s when the bugs are fixed, and the number of randoms dies down by a lot.
Made for Tier One servers, there are hardly ever queues in Tier Two and lower servers.
Why would I want to play EOTM instead of WvW if there are never queues?
^this
What i really hope is that low WvW tiers also have high population (PVE) maybe some players going to get pushed to the main WvW maps.
I wanted to give it a day or so to see if any spots develop for soloing, but just like EBG, bloody EOTM is awful for solo roaming..
Was kind of hoping it’d rekindle my desire in this game, but looking like ESO is where i’m going next.

The Chinese. It was made because the queues they will have in WvW when they launch in China will be ridiculous.
This is a PvE map.

It feels like a WvW version of Skyhammer.
A map full of gimmicks and kittenty features that distract from actual PvP.
Now I’m glad they can use it as a testing ground for various WvW mechanics. That’s cool. But in regards to actual WvW, it feels very lackluster and confined.
For players on servers that are losing, with low WvW participation, demoralized by the always larger zergling blob that other servers are able to summon in their match up. In EOTM people can actually play, fight, and have a chance. Are there zergs in EOTM? Sure. But there are also many smaller pocket fights, lots of 10 vs 10, 1 vs 1 ganking, and small group vs small group happening. All things that simply don’t happen much anymore in WvW, especially if you’re on a server in a match where your choices are 1) get rolled by a blob that has 10x the number, or 2) go off to take empty keeps until the blob arrives. Both of which, are boring and sucks for those in the given situations.
EOTM being cross-server queued also allow those usually with no access to big blobs to join big blobs. Honestly it’s a win/win, one of the reasons why it’s popular.
I too don’t like the EotM map, I feel like its killing the normal WvW maps and will continue to do so. Sor is like nearly off the map now. JQ is now falling behind a lot faster. BG is just a huge server that they fill everything still. I played EotM only for about 3 hours just go get the easy achievements points. i wont bother playing EotM anymore. i got what I wanted, I thought this map was to help with the queue on maps. but the only time I see queue now is if our garrison or WP at bay/hills is under attack. other than that i see no more queue. EB has no most of the time now as well.

EoTM was made for the rest of us (the vast majority of the game’s WvW-playing population) to enjoy, while a very few among us burn inordinate amounts of energy worrying and complaining about it.
This is funny, you do realize many of the complaints are due to people asking what other think of the map ? Just because you don’t agree with their opinion does not mean they are whining. That’s like saying the vast majority of the games WvW playing population whined because they didn’t have this map.
I don’t like it from the time I spent there, that is an opinion not a whine. Very big difference between the two, also for those that are “whining” they reserve that right just as you reserve the right to praise it.
Its not whining when you’re right.

This land was made for you and me!
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
EoTM felt great for the first hour. Then I realized it was just a PvE paradise to get WvW “experience.” The actual WvW battles are much different than in EoTM. EoTM is basically pvdoor 24/7 with stupid high health bosses in some areas. I’m good, I’ll stick to actual wvw, more fun for me.
-WvW/SPvP Player
I like a lot of the EotM concepts, particularly maps that draw off a global population and are created as needed so the in map player count is somewhat balanced. That solves two of the biggest issues with regular WvW: imbalanced servers and imbalanced player counts. So right away, EotM is good for players on servers that have a weak WvW presence or are in a terrible matchup that’s not fun most hours.
Unfortunately the map design is absolutely hideous. I mean shockingly bad. All it is choking paths to steer players like cattle into ZvZ plinky dink that is stupid, or it makes it incredibly easy for organized groups to farm them with the usual GWEN train like PvE mobs that can’t move. The node mechanics seem more oriented towards rewards than scoring and competition.
So all it all, it seems like 2 steps forward, 2 steps backwards again. There’s an old saying about trying to please everyone means that no one is pleased. It’s not PvE, it’s not PvP, it’s barely competitive. So what is it? The fact that there has not been one dev comment on this forum at all after the release is also quite troubling. This may be it for WvW.
I’m a 100% solo roamer and I hate, absolutely HATE this map. If thats Anets vision of large scale PVP maps, I’m out.
I’m having trouble figuring out what the point of this new map is.
The long run back after you die is horrible.
So few waypoints are supposed to discourage blobbing, but I don’t know why.
Apparently there’s a score, but I don’t know why. Winning or losing means nothing. I played a 4 hour match that our side won, but there was no reward. Our BL gets a supply drop, I think? Supply means nothing outside of reset night.
Map is meant for queues… outside of BG and JQ, nobody queues. Even then, they probably don’t queue 4 maps outside of a few hours on Friday reset.
Our own team blows up our own bridges making it even more annoying to get back to a fight. There’s no simple way for people to communicate cross-server, there’s very little to no communication or strategy. There’s no reason to take or hold objectives since points are useless and winning means nothing, so nobody defends. There’s not even that small joy of server pride. It’s just an annoying karma train map with a spot in the middle where giant blobs run into each other. Whoever builds the most AC’s (and all those nubs can’t even be bothered to throw down superiors from what I’ve seen, I doubt most Pve’ers even know superior siege exists) on the backline wins from what I’ve seen.
My only hope is that this map is an experiment for something better and more innovative in the future for GW2.
Watching a demolition derby is fun once, but going back multiple times is only for people from Alabama.
To me, the only point of this map is for people to blob up in the middle and smash into each other… so why make it so annoying to get back to the fight with what seems like a 30 minute run across narrow passages?
I mean, what types of players?
All of these chokepoints will end up causing even more zerging as people get funneled into the same place. It’s extremely difficult to meet up with people on a separate part of the map. The cannons are just absolutely horrible. It feels like fighting in an eternal battleground where you own nothing and all the towers, keep, and SM have people manning all of the siege. The difference is that your mobility is far more restricted in EoTM.
Don’t think I’ll be spending even another minute in the zone. Small groups looking for fights want fights in relatively open areas without siege or mob interference.
My feedback BEFORE Eotm was launched : “Karmatrains”.
They didn’t change anything to it since then… what do I see today? Karmatrains.
Players from highest tier servers, as ANet said, until they bored. New contents from EoTM coming?
Players from dominated servers, a place for them, as they dont enjoy outnumbered buff and faced 10v50 zerging. lol
Don’t matter how much they change the map, This game rewards zerging to much.
There is zero disadvantage to doing it, You’re not slower then smaller groups, you take less damage, you do more damage… nothing… Zero reason to not zerg your enemy.

The lower walkways and the northern part of the Desert part are pretty nice for solo.
As it stands for now, players exploring new content. We’ll see in 2-3 weeks.
Currently, I dislike that I cannot find any small, 1v1/1v2 fights across all beautiful map. There are only 3 megazergs blobbing ajd rotating in the centre of map. I can’t find any people on the sides of map, and if I manage to, they just try to get to megazerg as quickly as possible, I feel guilty and unsatisfied killing them.
But I love the views and new NPCs that are something more thanhealth bags and bots to gain imbalanced stacks.
Also, Badlands… So Fallout-ish, kind of diffrent from Crystal Desert, but I still like the theme

Too much running for most roamers. Too many PvE critters for a lot of players. Lots of champion kills and flips for zergs.
The map has potential for solid roaming/skirmish fights but they need to address the long runs after spawn especially given how easy it is to get knocked off. Charzooka’d is a thing now.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
I’m fine with the long run back to the fights, and I don’t mind the zergs.
But un-manned turrets that do a knockback and big damage is awful. So are timered spike traps that throw up 10 stacks of bleed.
Other terrible things are bridges and walkways with handrails that don’t stop you from falling off, NPCs that are more of a challenge than 50% of the playerbase (I joined to pvp), and the fact that parts of the map are inaccessible because a gate is in the way.
Then add that the entire map is made of the same terrain problems that have plagued this game since pre-launch, so teammates die running down hills, staircases, and bridges, and abilities constantly get obstructed on blades of grass.
