Why all the QQ constantly?
If you don’t understand the negativity and complaints, maybe you should put some effort into attempting that instead of knee-jerk dismiss them as “QQ”.
Anet refuses to balance warriors and thieves and lets other classes languish in despair – e.g. rangers. stealth makes this game the laughingstock of mmos, seriously. even anet employees who aren’t developers realize these elements are badly broken.
it’s ok better games are launching.
Ironically you’ve made a thread QQing about these supposedly QQers.
This thread doesn’t even warrant a serious response.
I think the point has been completely missed sigh
It’s complex, interesting, constantly evolving..
Do you play WvW? If so for how long?
[Re] Rerolled
8 months playing WvW, same server, under a couple of different guilds (1 defensive, 1 offensive) depending on what I feel like doing. If I get bored/annoyed with that (and it’s usually the people that annoy me, not the game), I go do something else for a while.
Some of the complaining on this forum is outrageously gratuitous.
“Warrior is OP”
“Warrior sucks”
“Ranger is OP”
“Ranger sucks”
“Thief is OP”
“Thief sucks”
“Upcoming changes suck” (before they’ve even been seen, tested or looked at in the big picture.
“Anet sucks”
It’s all so incredibly negative. Hardly any kudos to Anet for the amazing game we have the privileged lives to play. Anet actively tries to kitten players off? As if.
Seriously people, GW2 is a great game. It’s complex, interesting, constantly evolving.. and there’s more to do at any time than you could possibly get bored with.
I don’t understand why people are so negative all the time. Sure, give constructive feedback, but accept what is there and work with it instead of finding every tiny thing to complain about. Sure glad I don’t work for Anet and have to listen to the constant disparaging of my work.
I remember Commodore 64. Gaming has come such a long way, it’s really, truly amazing. The graphics and artwork are incredible now.
That we can even afford a computer and play a game such as this automatically puts us among the top richest people in the world. How about some gratitude and perspective?

I’m not sure I understand the point of this post, even with the TL;DR.
Up front, I really enjoy playing GW2. However, ANet has a bunch of problems that deserve to be highlighted. Examples – no public test realm (thus we get patches that aren’t tested and filled with bugs), ANet Devs who don’t understand the classes they’re working on, bugs that have been highlighted and acknowledged since launch that still exist, and the list goes on.
For the rest of the post… Commodore 64? Grateful that I can afford a computer? Not sure how that applies to pointing out ANet’s shortfalls, dude.
Tarnished Coast
I think the point has been completely missed sigh
Yes it has. But that is no unique trait of the GW2 community.
One has to say, that there are being raised some serious issues in some threads. But the majority is imo very one sidedly complaining to things that more concern their own play style, than the actual game design.
Chronomancy works, I am proof of it. Now stop asking me questions. Time must be preserved!

umm. i’ve never seen anyone claim that rangers are op’d lol. thieves and warriors are laughably imbalanced, however, and are shameful. Frankly, the inability to balance classes in this game is pretty embarassing. The GM traits were insulting.
Come on Anet it’s been almost 2 years! We need fixes and better balance!
Doesnt the game look pretty, you should be happy
Who else read the OP like that?
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
WvW, we only care if it affects the servers we play on.
Because Forums are a place you go to complain.
In fact let me ask you when the last time was you had an in-depth discussion about a topic where there was nothing wrong?
Positive discussion isn’t constructive or interesting. There’s only so many “ANet is great” threads you can read before you start skipping them. If you want that kind of stuff, go to reddit.com/r/guildwars2. They always upvote fluff content and downvote people who talk badly about the game.
Typin, thank-you. You get it.
Forums are a place to give constructive feedback. Positive discussion is constructive and interesting, actually. There will always be negatives to bring up, just like life, nothing is ever perfect, nor should it be.
IMHO, the constant complaining just reflects a wider issue of a focus on first world problems.
Yes, the game is beautiful, the design is amazing… and it’s also fun to play, despite the so called “game-wrecking” issues. They don’t wreck the game for me.
GW1 evolved considerably over its time. I expect GW2 will continue to do so also. I’m really looking forward to the new feature pack. The runes and sigils changes look very promising, can’t wait to see the new trait set-ups and the possibilities in mixing the abilities.
As for my example complaint of “Rangers are OP”, that will be a future one…
Peace people, just enjoy the game despite what you perceive as flaws! It’s a game!!
i really hope they add more Weapon skills it gets boaring just standing there and doing nothing letting the auto attack to all the work. dont get me wrong i dont mind auto attack i just think the game needs more weapon skills
Typin, thank-you. You get it.

You are funny, dude. What makes your view that the game is fine as is more valid than that of us great majority of forumgoers that WvW suffers from massive neglect?
You are just climbing on your little soap box and shouting at us with red cheeks “shut up, you have no reason to complain, because I am right and you are wrong!”
Get real.
Pretty much the majority of forum posters for any game are either fanboys or haters. Very little gray area.

Glad the game is working for you and that you enjoy it.
The art in this game is superb! There are a lot of things I really enjoy in this game, there are things that ANet got right.
There are also things the developer has done over the last 18 months that have alienated me (and my guild) with every consecutive patch.
WvW is our last refuge for remaining with this game. And unfortunately WvW needs some attention.
My customer experience in GW2 has been a mixed bag of absolute delight, annoyance, and dissatisfaction.
My perception is that it is often difficult to “just enjoy the game” when those “flaws” directly negate enjoyment.
Perception is reality. Especially when it comes to gaming.
Glad your experience has been different.
Other customers have not been as lucky.

Good statement. Offer a soapbox (these forums) and the masses will bloviate—GW2 is awesome and in fact we all are fortunate to have the ability to play it.
However, some of the qq’ing is quite deserved…there are some significant issues in GW2 that need addressing. PVE dominates WvW. I wish some skills and traits could be rolled out different in a WvW environment…
JQ Ranger
I think the point has been completely missed sigh
The point is WvW is an afterthought. Some of the most passionate and dedicated players enjoy WvW. WvW is at the bottom of the totem pole in terms of priority and dev resources.
1) PvE
2) sPvP
3) WvW
We don’t even have a way to organize player forces in WvW properly… it’s been almost 2 years since the BWE1 event feedback. 5 man group or zerg…. WTF? That’s the only way to group in game? Last time I checked it was the 21st century so how about a 21st century grouping system for starters.

So community says Warrior is OP.
Patch reult HUGE warrior buff
Since healing signet 8% will be compared to the 20-30% damage nerf of ferocity patch
2H sigil with fast hands.
And many more nerfs…
Can you see now why people complain?
Anets does Always the opposite of what is asked by players….no wonder people is upset.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
WvW was a great game. It was immense fun to play and had huge potential.
Now it’s not even a shadow. Every move Anet has made has been in the opposite direction from the constant pleas of the player base.
Arrowcarts, Trebuchets, Warriors, Commander abilities, WXP, titles, Ascended gear Legendaries. All these are subjects of general consensus among players and determined resistance from Anet.
They’ve ruined their own game. Can you blame us for being bitter about it?
Besides the massive skill lag at the moment and the stupidly prevalent “PVDoor” zerg meta, WvW is fine.
Funnily enough, both of the two major problems with WvW are linked

ACs, Trebs are fine. Not really sure what you mean. ACs doing more damage is great for defenders. Open field ACs are annoying but will hardly turn the tide of a fight. Trebs are also a great defensive tool.
Warriors aren’t even the most widely used class in zergs – guardians are. For roaming, it’s a toss up between Mesmer and Thief. The “warrior meta” came from PvE and sPvP, not WvW. A WvW warrior has only a few useful skills – Warbanner, hammer CC skills, warhorn condition cleanse and the occasional killshot. I guess a shout-heal warrior is kinda useful? But very few people run that build because you require such a huge tradeoff in your damage.
Commander abilities aren’t really needed beyond what’s already available. We all use teamspeak/mumble/vent already anyway. Anything more is just simple QOL.
Ascended has been out for months now and I haven’t noticed any difference in fights, so no impact there. Not even going to comment on legendaries. Thinking they are an issue is just asinine, as are WXP and titles.

Get real.
WvW suffers from massive reject, not so much neglect (i mean, they give us seasons/leagues after all)
And this attitude of “if you do not roll class X, Y, Z or V, you can go PvE so you do not take up slots”. The player’s behavior in general is largely to blame for the lack of progress in the entire mode. People continue, to this day, to compare classes and what they (one of them) bring, to what 4-7 warriors + 8-10 guards do. No wonder we will never get away from the hammer trains.

OP. I respect the sentiment of your post, and I agree there is too much QQ, but I think it may be a stretch to suggest that complaints themselves are unjustified.
It’s good to keep in mind that the people interacting with us from the Anet side are people, but it would also be good to keep in mind that they represent a corporation. At the end of the day it’s to whomever makes decisions for the corporation that the comments are directed at. The people interacting with us here unfortunately get caught in the crossfire.
Now, a fundamental flaw in your thesis is “….there’s more to do at any time than you could possibly get bored with”. That’s based on the presumption everyone enjoys videogames the same way. The reason we’re here in this forum is we play wvw/pvp. The people who turn up here generally find PvE a lot less interesting because it is not truly dynamic. It is a game of trial and error until you can do it in your sleep. So, we prefer the human element.
So, we purchased GW2 on the premise that pvp met certain criteria, explicit statements made by Anet, which it turned out it did not. At some point between the marketing parade and execution, pvp was heavily deprioritized.
A lot of constructive feedback was provided in addition to the QQ since launch. But, people who provide constructive feedback in this mode have found it relatively ineffectual, and watch as, at times, corporate decisions fly in the face of logic. The people who contribute those ideas here have likely seen less and less reason to post, and so you’re left with a higher density of QQ.
Try to remember we’re dealing with a company here. At the end of the day, a corporation does not care how you feel about its game, it is a headless monster that only responds to threats to its wallet. It does not require our sympathy and understanding as it lines its pockets with the dollars of average citizens trying to relax at the end of the day.
It might be interesting to check out the feedback from the Chinese launch activities. It would seem that the feedback there has been fairly negative. I travel there regularly for work and people I meet in my equivalent profession often make roughly 10% of my salary, but they would fit into the demographic that can afford the game, and would be considered poor by our standards. So, it would seem that some people who are not the “richest people in the world”, take exception to some elements as well. It may also be humorous to note that negative feedback has been vigorously censored by the local providers in China………sound familiar?
This is an interesting read from a couple months ago:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-14-you-thought-that-was-it-for-guild-wars-2
“What to do about those servers that can’t compete, though? ’Someone’s always going to win, someone’s always going to lose,’ Johanson shrugged, ‘but we want to do things to help ensure you have a really fun play. Even if you’re losing, you have moments and rewards and things you’re playing for that they’re compelling right down to the last minute.’”
“‘Population-wise, we’re doing great,’ insisted Johanson. ’We’re very happy with where we’re at. Six months ago to now, it’s a very steady, very very healthy population.’”
Hehe…………………..uninstalling today.

Hardcore Fanboy alert. You’re so blinded by being such a fanboy that you somehow manage to ignore everything that is wrong with this game. GW2 could be a good game if the devs actually gave a kitten about it. WvW Season 1 happened and it was a disaster. Tons of feedback and discussion and an entire CDI regarding WvW changes that would help improve the game mode. Instead of doing any of those things they gave us EOTM which is a glorified game lobby where the map is dumb and favors classes with knockbacks and account bound WXP something we should have had to begin with. One of those thing they didn’t even deliver on before WvW Season 2, which is a big waste of time because WvW hasn’t been balanced or fixed and just a distraction while they think up another cliche enemy with terrible writing for LS2.
This is nothing new for a MMORPG. First, the game is online which means that there is a certain anonymity that leads players to speak their minds more openly. Second, The game is an rpg. Rpgs reward time invested and hardcore players (the ones who speak out the most) tend to focus on a single aspect of the game. This gives them a pretty skewed perspective. They see a class do more damage/defense/support/mobility and want to know why their class doesn’t have that. They might see faster character progression in pve vs wvw and want to be able to enjoy the same progression doing what they enjoy more. Third, anytime you put a significant amount of time into something and it gets nerfed, there is generally a negative reaction.
The whole point of forums are to discuss things, there is no reason to discuss things that aren’t problematic. This leads to the forums being filled with what you call QQ. Generally, I do agree with you, GW2 is a great game that is reasonably balanced and fun to play. However, it does have its flaws and the forums basically inflate those flaws to ridiculous levels.

Which has proven to be the only way to get things fixed most of the time.
It’s a good game, with room for improvement. With modern game development basing itself around an 8 mon cycle, GW2 is a game changer as long as the dev team does not rest on their laurels. Many here feel like they are in many ways.
As odious as they may find the endless complaints, people would not be posting if they did not care and it is the rawest form of feedback they can get.
When the dev team is willing to wade through the mud, they can get a plethora of direct input on what changes excite the player base and which disappoint.
Do you play WvW? If so for how long?
Just as important, what class and what do you spend your time doing in WvW?
To the original point, GW2 is a recreational activity and people tend to want to maximize the fun they get out of recreational activities, regardless of their living standards. I don’t find it surprising at all that people lobby to make the game more fun for themselves.
As I pointed out elsewhere, the things being complained about here are things that have been complained about in other sports and games throughout the ages, even before computer games, and lessons learned there are not being applied here. And unlike the days of the Apple ][, TRS-80, Atari 2600, and so on, the problems here are often not being caused by the limitations of the platform (there are a few exceptions like AoE caps, which I understand we have to live with).
