Why did they Allow PvE gear in Wv3
Thoughts? If people couldn’t use their “pve” gear in wvwvw most people probably wouldn’t bother with wvw considering how long it would take to get a full set of wvwvw gear.
Besides that I don’t get what you mean by it separates the pvp community. You’re gonna have to explain that one.

Easy. They could make all WvWs players geared as they do in sPvP/tPvP etc.

WvW gear doesn’t really give me the stats for my glass cannon wannabe status…
WvWvW Player Who Doesn’t Have Much of A Clue
I think the opposite. It’s the PvP gear that should be removed. You work hard to get the exact look and stats you want, but you can’t use that in PvP?
I very much enjoy how unique each build can be for WvW. In PvP it’s all the same and it’s pretty boring because of it.

Keep PvP gear in SPvP, A-Net actually put some decent thought into the design of WvW, PvE and SPvP. They made a statement leveling the playing field in terms of SPvP for gear. WvW with the capability of PvE gear enabled allows actual WORLD participation.

“Seriously, just dodge.”
WvW is meant to be an imbalanced, PvE-immersed mass PvP experience.
There is no room for “PvP gear” in WvW. If you want structured, balanced PvP, there is a place for that.
I like the gear farm. So, just no pvp gear.
My take on WvW gear is a declination. Although I like the idea of PvP gear, that system should be limited to sPvP. My stand on WvW is to throw three servers in an imbalance, as Christos had mentioned. WvW is the wild west of the game; if you’ve got the best gear, that’s the place for it. Otherwise, grinding for your gear will be pointless as you only get the “best” and exotic gears towards end-game. Once that’s done, you’re left with nothing else to run around in with your gear. There has to be a place to show off and play in your own gear against other players—and that’s WvW. Just my two cents.
honestly, I dont care if they restrict pve gear in wvw or not. Exotic gear is pretty easy to get anyway(not regarding the looks of these gear). You can even buy exotic armors with Karma at Orr, and mix those with other dungeon gear, badge gear, TP gear, etc. As long as they keep the ascended gear easily available in the future, I don mind having pve gear in wvw. One thing that bothers me tho is the lower level characters need their stats buff to at least 80 level rares, since they die in like 1 sec to random aoes.
If they removed gear from WvW, we’d likely not get any loot either. No loot in WvW would mean no money in WvW, which would mean even less incentive for people to go there.
I don’t see that happening tbh.

You’re dumb. You’ll die, and you’ll leave a dumb corpse
Just have everyone join naked and line up a bunch of bundles by the portals for people to pick up. Make it like general chaos(It was basically TF2) for Sega where you play a role, Pyro or Soldier etc. And if two people from opposing factions get too close to each other it automatically equips boxing gloves and puts a ring of warding around them that acts as non-interference from the outside. Nobody can leave the ring till one side dies.
Honestly thought I disagree with the the idea of wvw gear only. Half the reason I rarely play Spvp is because I can’t use my own gear. I definitely appreciate how spvp is setup, but I dislike not having an option for people like me to fight as is.
Tarnished Coast.
W3 is classified as PvE. Thus, PvE gear is part of the game.
I haven’t found it to be a problem, personally.

I think the problem I have with this is the word “work”. I don’t ever want to “work” in my gaming time. I just want to be and have fun. When I PvP, like in sPvP, I just want to have all the functionality right away. Earning gears and skills is a PvE concept.
I think PvE gear is fine in WvW though. WvW isn’t about fairness. It’s all about asymmetric fights (trebs versus walls, people inside keeps against people outside keeps, people with ballistas against people running at ballistas, that sort of thing) that what gear you wear makes only a difference on the tiniest scale (it helps that gear doesn’t even change much thanks to all the upscaling). Plus it is interchangeable with PvE progress so you don’t have to do PvE all the time to progress your character which is nice.

They could certainly do it now. The reason they didn’t was for their wild goose chase dream of making a mmorpg into an E-Sport, and probably seeing dollar signs in that direction. But it looks like that is pretty much a dead duck at this point, so I don’t see why they need to keep the gear split separate.
It was definitely a turn-off for to me realizing you had to earn your stuff all over separately in sPVP, and nothing you did or accomplished there really affected or mattered in any other part of the game.
