Q:
Why do the season rewards expire?
Probably to try and make you log in every week to wvw and pick up your rewards, and not play the first week and then bail till end of the season.
They sent an in game mail every week as a reminder, not sure why people are not bothering to read it.

I think the underlying goal was to encourage people to play every week (instead of just doing all the achievements in the first week then going back to pve for the rest of the season), but this meant that a 4-week tournament would have 4 batches of rewards.
there are basically 2 ways to hand out 4 batches of rewards — you wait until the end and hand them out all at once, or you do it as you go. for technical reasons, they probably were not able to figure out a way to keep 4 weeks of history for each player, so instead they went with a rewards-as-you-go system.
it’s not clear to me why they made you talk to an NPC to get your reward chest, instead of having it pop up like reward chests from dailies, wvw ranks, etc. possibly more technical limitations, or maybe they just didn’t think of it. maybe the idea was to try to reduce “what are these ticket things used for?” type questions by having the same NPC that gives the rewards also able to tell you how to spend them.

You won’t be alone in missing out on rewards. Expect to see a lot of threads this weekend with people wondering where the rest of their rewards are.

Do you think they can write threads, if they cannot even read email?
I know one common response was why not mail them…. Well we saw how well that worked out season 2….
