[SLAY] The Soul Slayers (FSP)
The game is called “Guild” Wars.
But they should call it “Zerg” wars or “Blob” wars.
Because WvW is mostly ment to blob and run around and capture stuff and sometimes fight a enemy blob.
And then we press 11111111.
Thats no fun for a guild group of 15-20 to fight against blobs.
So why does Anet calls it “Guild” wars then, call it “Server” wars.
Or make a system where guilds can fight guilds.
For example the game Battlefield you can have clanwars where you fights against others clans with even numbers.
So make a system in guild wars where guilds from all servers can apply to so they can fight other guilds on a seperate map or create a server for that (same like the global servers u use for PvE maps). Where you can go to if a guild wants to fight against guilds.
And if the guild doesn’t want to fight other guilds they can just go to there own server maps.
I don’t know if its abit clear what i wrote, but i hope you guys can understant my point of few and idea.
Grtz Unlike others
The guild halls will have a battleground where you can fight other guilds as far as I understand it.
Because the first game was called like that.
HoT “should” add guild vs guild. But up to now they’ve been extremely stupid with their management of the name yes.
Oh no, the title of the game which have absolutely nothing to do with the WvW game mode – or our guilds for that matter – because it refers to the events that happened a couple hundred years in past lorewise need to be renamed because reasons!
The name “Guild Wars” comes from the series of human wars that were called “The Guild Wars”. Guild Wars 1 one takes at the end of the 3rd Guild War with the invasion of the Charr.
Guild Wars 2 picks up the narrative 250 years later.
But the origin of the name comes from the lore and backstory of the games themselves.

That is a very Anet mind state ya got there. That is why they think that WvW players are “really in to PvE” – because there is such a large population that just runs around pressing 1, which is pretty much all PvE is anyway.
My play style in WvW is running around solo or with 1-19 other people depending on the day or guild I am running with or driving that day. I mostly do smaller stuff where I’m running 2-4 people, we don’t ever just press 1 lol. When I’m running 15-20 people, I’m still not just pressing 1 because we’re generally zerg busting and taking on groups twice our size.
But yes, the mindless karma train zerg rather it be in PvE, EOTM or WvW can get away with just blobbing and pressing 1, but that is not what everyone who plays WvW does or wants to do. Anet should take notes.
The Guild Wars specific part comes in at about the 50s mark.
I think it was that back in 2004 Anet wanted to make a MOBA that appealed to players from other MMOs. The biggest groupings of people were called “Guilds”. Doesn’t take much to suggest to those players:
“What if you could fight players from other guilds? We’ll Call it ‘Guild Wars’”
And NCSOFT goes “Yes! Make it and sell it!”
“But what about players who don’t want to fight other players?”
“Lets hire some writers to slap together some lore and make a pve campaign on the side.”
And there you have it. Guildwars 1, the MOBA with a Pve on the side. They just use their lore as an excuse to keep calling it “Guild Wars” even though no actual battles occur between guilds, except for the stuff we make up in WvW.

Another way to look at it would be:
“Hmm…we wrote this massive and complex story, and built a game around it, but people want to fight each other….I know, since the story itself is based on “The Guild Wars” why don’t we throw in a PvP element on the side. That way the name “Guild Wars” will appeal to those players as well…"
“Sounds great!!! lets do it!”
And thus Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 was born.
same question can be asked about other games as well. why is Starcraft called Starcraft ? do they craft any star in the game ?
the point is, a developer can basically name their game as they wish….
I think what the OP wanted to ask is: Why doesn’t Guild Wars 2 has GvGs like in Guild Wars 1?
The answer is: They want to focus on 5v5 combat and Blob combat.
But they will sell us Guild Halls with HoT, where we can organize our own fights. These will probably without a scoreboard or stats tracking like OS, but we can always dream.

You should ask Mike O’Brien afaik he is the WvW guru from Arenanet

And this is what’s called “bait and switch” young false advertisers in training!
