Why does Anet ignore cheating?

Been talking about this for sometime:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Thief-s-Speed-Hacking/first#post1410633
It’s unlikely to change anytime soon, ArmageddonAsh is right.
Only just today I was in WvW fighting a group of thief’s where the fight would go something like this:
Fight Fight Fight > Thief nearly dies > mysteriously teleports away > Stealth > Suddenly out of combat.
Good luck proving that’s cheating tho.
Your only real weapon is Fraps (or similar), hope the hacker makes an obvious mistake and reveals their hacking and uploading it to utube then submit it to exploits@arenanet.net
The best detect and report mechanisms are not in game -.-
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
But thiefs gettin ooc is not cheating, all they gotta do is shoot two infiltrator arrows and one shadowstep, its pretty comon knowledge.

Report this kind of stuff inside the game and escalate using the support channels, as the rules state. Do not post videos/screenshots/accusations on matchup forums or the WvW discussion forum. It’s that simple. The fact that people keep doing what you just did here despite being told not to over and over and over and over and over and over is part of why the matchup forum is being closed.

it does indirectly.
Hackers create agony, frustration and anger. These things make one much less motivated to play. If you are less motivated to play, you are less motivated to pay, especially since paying gives you no real advantage (as it should be, don’t get any funny ideas).
However at this point, the amount of hackers are too low to cause any form of problems outside of WvW and possibly PvP.
Since kill-stealing is much less likely to work here in GW2, hackers will not invade the PvE side as often as WvW or PvP.
At some point Arena Net will have to deal with these people, as they are indirectly causing loss of profit, but also because often, hacks can cost money. This money is often sponsoring groups or individuals that deliberately make hacks for games. Thus they are directly trying to harm the economy of a company. They do it, not for the lulz, but because they can and because they are almost never going to be stopped. However, deliberately aiming to hurt a licensed company outside of direct market competition can be considered a crime in many countries.
In the end, Arena Net must decide to take a stance against unfair and despicable play. In the end, allowing hackers are not much different then permitting people to physically bully a person in real life, except you shift the event into a virtual world.
Perhaps, Arena Net just need to learn to plant their feet in the right place.

I stopped putting in money to the gemstore because it seems like ANET is unwilling to fix many things about the game. If they are unwilling I feel I can vote with my money at my unsatisfaction.
If they fix a few things and really crack down on illegitimate tactics and hacks and publish some of the latest number of accounts they’ve banned because of exploiting…it would turn around my confidence in the game.
Right now I still only play because I’ve already bought the game and sPVP is still a bit fun, but I’d happily support a company that had the right attitude even more and purchase more things from the Gemstore if they turn it around.

Mhm, never said it wasn’t possible but you obviously didn’t bother to check my link. Checking links provided is pretty common knowledge too.

I didn’t you’re right, but I’m just gonna guess its about thief abusing hacks while already abusing his ability to get away
Using the “proper channels” would be all fine if they actually worked. They don’t, so…
What’s more important, stopping legitimate players from talking about a growing exploiting/hacking problem, or actually solving the problem?

It might help if the report function in game actually had an option for cheating/exploiting. The fact that it doesn’t really gives me the impression that they just don’t care.
They probably care at some level, however at this point, the number of hackers is not causing a major threat to their income. Thus they are less likely to spend time, resources and manpower to chase down these degenerated foul individuals who seek to ruin the fun for the rest of us.

Since you are clearly against reading the code of conduct, I will summarize the portions applicable here. The forums are not the correct medium to report players or to talk about possible bugs/exploits, which is why the posts were removed and why the thread was closed. Email Anet directly or use the in-game function.
As per the moderators spending more time closing threads then fixing bugs: Of course. Forum moderators are (more than likely) not the same people that work on game development. Asking them to fix issues within the game is like asking people to not defame an entire guild with baseless accusations on the forums.
The in-game function that doesn’t exist or the e-mails they don’t read?
The problem here is not fixing bugs, it’s outright ignoring people who are exploiting the game or hacking it. If they were manipulating gold that way they’d be banned by lunchtime.

Press Escape or click the game menu option in the top left → click support → submit a bug report. I am sure it ends going to the same place as if you sent an email, but it automatically includes a screenshot (from what I can tell).
Also, as per the “fact” that these people are exploiting: The video shows three SoS thieves (who are green) being in a wooden Wildcreek (in the green third of EB) and someone shooting an AC at one of the few places inside WC that you can’t C&D or hide a black powder field effectively. I was not there, so I can’t speak as to whether he shot it other places or if he ran around staff cleaving everything, but thieves can hide inside a tower for quite a long time. The automatic jump to “they must be exploiting.” is, I believe, a mistake.
Again, I am functioning on only what I can see from the video.

Did you also watch the start of the video where he shows the same 3 thieves (Crit, WISH, and Love) outside of the tower? You can also see one of them inside the wall partway through. This is clearly exploiting, and I’m not sure how anyone could say otherwise after watching this video.
You actually see them outside the wall first, then inside it, then through the other side. But that video itself is just one example of what’s becoming more and more prevalent – and it’s not the only kind of abuse the game mode is being subjected to right now. There’s also the siege griefers, and groups breaking into spawns to kill golems – even with screenshots, videos etc. sent to ANet, they just get left to continue abusing the system. All these problems would require some fixes to prevent outright, but that’s no reason to let the people who exploit them continue to do so.
There are nowhere near as many people using teleport hacks – those actually do get you banned… in theory.
I dont think they ignore it, i think arenanet is simply incapable of actually doing anything about it.

Everyone knows this. The reason they post in the forums is that Anet doesn’t do anything about the exploits/griefing. If Anet actually acted, people wouldn’t need to post about it.
Them not banning certain people we’ve seen hack for months despite video proof + infracting/not allowing such videos on the forums makes them appear like this:

Yeap
To further show my point
If you see someone exploiting or cheating in game, Right click and hit the report button
Do you see an option for Cheating? You’d think in a game like this, one might exist…But nope..
Doesn’t exist.
Just ignore the problem is the policy

These same 3 thieves along with a few others have been exploiting the entire matchup getting into keeps via pathing errors.
Its not them hiding in the keep and it being taken, I’m talking about taking fully upgraded keeps because they can teleport inside.

Keep in mind that you only stop putting money in the gemstore if you don’t buy gems at all, that includes gems traded for gold. Every gem is bought with real money, including every gem you trade. So if anyone does want to make this point, don’t trade gems.
These glitches have been around for a long time, but lately they are being abused so openly and blunt that i almost don’t bother taking care of keeps anymore. Yeah, i’m one of those poor fools that like upgrading/sigeing, and there is nothing more annoying than seeing it all flip to paper after hours of work and scouting because of cheating. I find myself logging in less and less because of it.

Nice evidence, if anet would simply fix those glitchspots, they would not have to ban people using them AND people would not get annoyed with it.

Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
I once watched a video which showed some cheaters getting dealt with and banned. I have also reported with screenshots, but apart from that, it does become frustrating when you want everyone to play fairly as its just a game. I have reported via the correct channels, and realise that the forums are not the correct method. I would like to put it over though, as sometimes you trying to take screenshot, stay alive and report a player before he disappears off screen. So my thoughts are, is their not an easier way to report this, or maybe a forum started that deals with Questions and Answers specifically related to cheats and exploits, so that other players are also available to look out for these anomalies? And just as an afterthought, I have seen the same group of players I’ve previously reported via the correct channels, so its an on-going problem which may or may not have been addressed, as I have no way of knowing. Thanks for a great game, and all the work that goes in to try keep us players happy and content.
That proves nothing unfortunately. Could simply be a bug.
anet was planning on addressing this, but decided to work on that wildly popular league thing instead
I’ve sent in a screenshot with players admitting in chat about an exploit in WvW and showing others how to do it. Nothing was done.
Profit?
Don’t support the Gem Shop, it’s that easy.
Is it an exploit or are they using the ‘noclip’ hack to get through the wall?
Speaking of odd things, take a look at the screen shot & advise me if you are able to climb to the top of the structure (Valley Keep). Never seen this before in the months I’ve been playing.

Yeah you can climb up there.

Excellent to know, thanks. As I was a bit suspicious.

It’s a legit jumping puzzle… there are features that are pretty clearly specifically placed to help you get up there.

Had never taken any notice when my server had that keep. Hence why it pays to ask. Now I know.

It’s great for defense of QL as well.. a cat/treb and an AC can hit most areas that people attack QL from.
Its a corporation. That’s all you need to know. They don’t see it as important enough to devote resources (pay someone) to investigate. Unless/until it affects their bottom line, they won’t care enough to do anything.
I personally don’t give them any more of my money because of the bad management of this game that they have done. And them being cheap is one of the reasons.
Cheating is one thing, they completly ignore trolling too. There is not even an in game option to report abuse of building a keep full of ramms.
You can report using the “support” link on the upper left of this page, then following the “submit a request” on the upper right of the page that opens.
You’ll get a reply pretty fast (form letter) and nothing will be done, as usual. But the best part: you’ll sometimes get an email a few days later asking you to rate the support you received. Clicking “Bad, I’m unsatisfied” in that email at least gives some satisfaction — that’s the best conclusion you’ll be getting out of the whole episode.
The thing is, the proper channels aren’t working. There’s a certain mesmer player that most NA T1 servers will know of (he’s transferred through a few of them) who’s been a known cheat for over a year using the flying hack (will fly over towers/keeps walls with the super jump/fly hack and then portal in a zerg) and a year later he’s till in game, still doing it.
With how extremely public the hacks are (ie see youtube) and how long they persist in game, it’s extremely poor form from Anet to do next to nothing about it or react in a timely fashion.

The thing that will make Anet take action on a hack like that is frequency of use. If 1 person does it, they don’t care. If you post the videos of how it works and how to do it all over reddit/gw2guru forums/etc, and people use it more, it’ll get fixed faster.
