Why is loot so bad in WvW?
Because if it were comparable then all the maps would be queued 24/7 with PvE heroes farming rather than fighting. People who played back at release will remember when escorting dolyaks would give you event credit even if the caravan was not attacked. We had crowds of 40+ players humping those yaks all the way to their destination, while teamchat was filled with people crying for help defending garrison or whatever. It would have been hilarious if it weren’t so sad, and that only rewarded you with XP and karma.
I mean, look how popular karma trains are already. Imagine if they were actually rewarding!
Loot should stay in PvE. Like DrWhom said, we already have enough with the karma trains.
If you want loot you can always spend those 15 min farming champs. Which doesn’t sound time consuming at all, if you ask me.
Why is loot so bad in WvW?
They are looking into it…tune in next year…
Seriously they after to form 3 talking shops to brainstorm it and of course this can only happen during a blue moon for obvious reasons…
As far as I’m concerned, 15 minutes in PvE is 15 minutes when I could have been in WvW. I’m not interested in loot except insofar as I need it for WvW purposes.
Clearly, the WvW model gave the designers a problem as DrWhom pointed out, with PvE loot trains in WvW.
Instead of the obvious solution of removing the PvE content and giving reasonable loot for killing players, they decided to simply downgrade the loot tables overall. I’m curious as to why.
I think it has to with the strain to be innovative is WvW design, and the PvPvE integration. I think the best solution would be to offer significant rewards every 10 ranks.
The best, and perhaps only, long-term solution is to separate WvW gear and loot.
All items necessary in WvW: armour, weapons, siege, food buffs etc. are purchasable with WvW currency (could be badges, but probably something else).
Not going to happen though, as Anet is still wedded to the idea that WvW is PvP for casuals.
actually.. because anet power creeped the loot in pve. wvw hasnt received the same treatment yet.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
You wanna be really ticked? …I usually have crappy luck whever I go… but lately I’ve been averaging 5-8 exotics per week and atleast 20 rares every night just killing random event mobs and helping run NSP’s temple train (roughly 90 minutes per night). …at this rate I could end up popping a precursor.
In WvW all I ever see is thorn trophies & stained claws …. I don’t ever remember getting a rare from an enemy player either. Those rank-up bonus chests are hilarious too … “oh gee thanks… a random masterwork once per hour…. coool story”
I’d like an honest answer as to why I still cannot get the mat for the ascended backpiece 11 months after they promised they’d provide that. My only conclusion is that ANET thinks they know what’s best for us and that is forcing us to run their garbage fractals.
I’ve had my share of rare loot in world vs world then again I don’t play world vs world for the loot so it’s a nice bonus. Probably the best item received was on Friday, a keg of wxp which raised my level by 3 in one hit. You can get good crafting material from world vs world.
They are probably paranoid about silly things like zergs taking a dive to farm each other.
But yes, noticed far less rares and exotics drop in WvW vs PVE since the very beginning.
Taking away magic find cut down the amount of rare & exotics.
The drops are generally rubbish- no where else do i get so many thorns/spikes/general trash as when I play wvw.
In lower population servers it’s even worse, as the opportunity to kill other players in large scale battles doesn’t happen and levelling up in ranks is a slow, painful process.
They said they were going to address it- by far the easiest way would be to give a decent reward every hard earned rank up.
But seeing as they still haven’t made ANY effort to change the stupidly high achievement categories a year into the game, don’t expect any love from the one part time dev that works on wvw.
