I think we are going to see, over time, that those “gifted” with a week of the DBL are always going to come in third.

Why is it assigned to the weakest positioned Server, and not the strongest?

You might be right. I just checked the Millineum web site, and 3 of the 4 Reds are leading. I’m on HoD and Red is behind by quite a bit. Even though last week was only a 1/2 week, I was surprised to see Red finish last.

No one wants to fight on desert, so whichever server has it gets easy points.

In NA 3/4 red servers are leading their matchups. In the only matchup where red is losing (T4) it’s somewhat par with 2nd place.

In EU 1/5 red server is leading (Argueable the fattest server in the EU pairing currently tho). 2/5 are second however pretty close to the leading team and 2/5 are losing, however pretty close to the team in 2nd.

If DBL actually hurt the red server as all you DBL haters claim, all red servers would be losing bad (except maybe for FSP) and unable to even keep up with the other two servers that have alpine. That’s not the case here.

I think most DBL haters are claiming the opposite. It helps the red server. As evidenced by the NA matchups where T1, 2 and 3 are being won by the red server.

The deserted borderland offers a huge PPT advantage to any server that has it because no one wants to play on it – so their entire borderland ticks with nearly full PPT in their favour.

How it got 75% of the vote is beyond me.

Must have just been some first class trolling from our PvE players filling out the survey.

Mixed borderlands imbalances WvW match up too much and needs to be either full DBL or full Alpine. Never a mix.

It got 75pct because there was never the option to not have dbl. So everybody voted for the lesser evil so we can have 2 ABL to play on.

The poll has ended! After removing all votes for “Don’t Count My Vote” the final results are:

65.5% No: The Desert Borderland map should continue to be supported.
34.5% Yes: The Desert Borderland map should be permanently disabled.

In fact most of the time people say “DBL is bad because nobody gonna bother in defending it”, which implies the red team won’t play it even if it’s their own map, which isn’t the case as we can see the red servers are indeed winning. And honestly, it isn’t because people aren’t attacking because K-trainers will always look for an empty map and DBL would be their first target if it was empty as everyone claims.

It’s because nobody cares about PPT. The only thing that matters for your overall points for the week is how good your server’s coverage is, how many BLs you can fill, and for how long. Red DBL doesn’t change that one iota.

Having a variety in places you can go adds far more than trying and failing to keep PPT balanced.

One person (the OP) is not “most of the time” in my opinion.

I think every server is going defend their home BL.

So having DBL is a huge advantage because guilds that want fights are going to choose alpine and pugs will follow them.

I can only speak for T3, but I would ask you not to imply that CD or SoS are slack. They have been quite diligent in their attacks on the DBL and there have been some good fights. Hats off off to both of them. SBI is also working to retain our home BL which is red this week. But no, it hasn’t been any sort of free ride any more than having an ABL is.

I made the OP after having just made a counter-clockwise run thru the DBL (Tier 4) with about 8 other members of my guild. We encountered only about 2 people running solo. No one was at the Keeps/Camps. This was about 7:30 PST. And we had been on numerous other maps engaged in fights earlier in the evening.

I was incorrect in assuming that this applied to all Red DBL’s across all Tiers.

Did you even look at the fact that Blackgate has DBL this week before you talked out of your typing piehole?

Did you even read his post realizing his mistake right on top of yours before posting this response yourself?

T3, off night late NA, post EST (GMT-5) time, prime time PST (GMT-8). DBL quite busy. And yes EBG forces responding to enemy map queue attacking a T3 keep. So, no one attacks and defends DBL, well not quite the story in T3.
