This is one of the most annoying things since release of GW2
Why on earth would you patch during primetime?
Its a kittened decision performance wise
Its a kittened decision concerning WvW as its down for 4-5 Hours
Its destroying player experience akittens best? 4PM the patch was announced today, 5PM WvW was shut down, Lions Arch is filled with all WvW guilds waiting for the patch
8PM still no patch, WvW guilds are alrdy cancleing their Raids….
Overall a lot of people get mad about Anet, some people even quitting the game at all…

Concerning possible new bugs and exploits, worst time to place a hotfix.
Huge potential abuse of them as most players are online`?

I dont see a single Pro for this timing…
Especially since its only hitting WvW and not PvE players

no its not, there is EU primetime ~7-10pm
and at the same time its 2PM on US

rolling the patch like 5 hours earlier would solve the issue and there wouldnt be any primetime (except maybe a small for some few people)
and in addition, it does not concern PvE players at all

I am just curious as to why WvW has to be down for hours prior to the release. It caught me by surprise this morning when I logged on to play a bit.

OK… let’s slow down and think about that a bit. 8AM for a corporation. People are still coming into work. There will be (assumption from a corporate guy) a pre-release meeting making sure all the t’s are crossed and i’s are dotted. Then some time while everyone makes sure everything is in place. Then, maybe about 11AM or so things are a go to get the process started, maybe a little later if people grab some early grub. (With the kitchen they have this may not be an issue.) Realistically, from the perspective of a sane office environment, 11AM to Noon would be the earliest I’d personally expect something like this to happen. Maybe 10AM if they require people to come in earlier to make a 9AM meeting.

Now, that’s all guess work, but expecting them to be firing out the release at 8AM seems to me to be unrealistic.

lol if i was a worker there , i would n’t wake up early for the sake of some gamer.

lets say its all prepared to just hitting a few buttons + the meeting done the day prior.

You would check if everything runs fine at 9am till 10-11am but why wait another 3-4 hours?
Also patch days are always special in companys, especially in huge ones

Whats goes wrong witch patch any way, WvW shut down good 4h ago and still nothing?

I think if they didn’t shutdown WvW 4-5 hours too early there would be no reason for such topics. But who knows, maybe they had problems with WvW Implementations, even though I cannot imagine that because it was the same thing with WvW being down for hours on the last patch.
Just shutdown WvW 10 min before patch and everything is fine.

I think we have to address the possibility that something isn’t going quite as smoothly with this patch as we’re used to and, thanks to the time of day they choose to do this, they have plenty of people working on it. Yes, it sucks, but have a little patience. They’ll get it.

That reminds me… rumor has it you may be considering a little more out of your WvW than you’ve been getting on Borlis Pass… we should talk.

I know it’s unavoidable to whine if you are affected by it, but…. people who played WoW for example, never cared when someone else in a different region was affected by this issue. Isn’t that terrible? Now these people are affected and whine and want someone else to care when they didn’t.

not true we don’t have many americans guilds here nor players so patching in the morning is much better about 09:00-11:00 cet perfect.

Lol I worked for a corporation with 55 agencies around the world, we started at 8 AM just the managers started at 9 AM.

And btw he is right, they have 8 hours to upload the patch and they can do it while is not prime time in EU nor in US.
