Why still downed state in WvW?
Or just play the class that you find so OP instead.
Maxing and alt in this game takes much much less time than any other MMO, which was the best idea in the history of mmorpg’s.
Firegoth no it is not cause now i am really bored and the journey to get there was really boring i mean face it the story sucked! And the heart quests are chores not epic quests like most mmos out there. So i would rather them have taken there time to develop quests stories and epicness so the game wasn’t rushed into boring level 80. There’s nothing to do but farm. This game is over glorified PVP so at least get rid of the down state and do something right in this game.
Downed state is soo kittening stupid. When I kill one guy in a group of enemies, I’d like to forget about him and move on to the next target instead of worrying about when his teammates will rez him or worrying about my hp as I try to stomp.
It’s the same thing when my hp goes down to 0. I accept defeat and move on instead of trying to be an kitten who prolongs his impending doom.

Story? who gives 2 kittens about it?
You got 3 servers to farm DE’s for experience, each map exploration of your level or higher worth at least 1 level, you got 3 very cheap crafts to level another 30 levels.
You can hit 1-80 in less than 10 hours accumulated doing all the above.
Trust me, I got 14 of them.

When i see people promote this game it makes me wonder to like mattidore if they are anet in disguise lol. I mean you don’t have a great reason why downed state should stay you are basically promoting them for there gain why? I mean if they did something wrong or something isn’t working idk why you have to promote it i find downed to be a waste too plain and simple if your dead your dead. Why should you get a second chance? Especially when your friend kills someone you hit maybe once you get to come back up please? Means you don’t have much skill if you go down up all the time from team mate heals or friend kills someone for you.

Downed state is part of what makes GW2, just because you’re used to one way of PvP from other games, it does not make it the “right” way to do it.
GW2’s PvP is a different game, WvW in its nature is widely different than sPvP, that you cannot even begin to compare the two.Until the day Anet will change WvW skills to sPvP, it will still remain as PvX and not solid PvP, so you cannot compare the two.
oh really? what are the upsides to the downed states of ranger, engineer, warrior ad necro?
Okay, getting someone’s hp downed to 0 equalling a kill might not be the “right” way to do it, hey why not just give instant rezx5 so we have to kill each other 5 times? but in all seriousness, I know downed state is the wrong way to do pvp.100%.
I meant ups and downs in general that compensate for it, not specifically for downed states.
Also, if GW2 was the first game to introduce PvP – you wouldn’t know any better.
So yeah, you only assume you know what is the “right” way to PvP basing your idea of it off other games.

I only play games that I enjoy, if I do not enjoy something in this game, I just don’t do it. I take downed state as part of how you PvP in GW2. I do not try to change the way this game was meant to be played.

The right way to pvp is if you get someone down to 0 hp, they die. If they die they’re DEAD.
The fact that this happens in every. single. game (of any genre). with. player versus player. goes to show that it works better than the downed state mechanic, since no new game has implemented this ground-breaking new way of doing pvp…

I mean the most cheap get back ups to when you kill the dumb jaguar that got in the middle of the fight. The downed rally state with computer enemies that are easy to kill standing next to you can give you a cheap rally get rid of it in pvp and pvx i don’t understand why dead doesn’t = dead in this game. Its a simple concept. lol

…. you lost all your life in every other game but this one that means dead XD so now the life bar counts for nothing. Downed is when you get knocked down. Dead is when you lose all your life. I have seen a warrior rally 5 times using his third downed skill and rejoining his group to kill someone. I have played thief in a fight downed warrior. Another guy runs over to help him and now warrior uses rally two vs 1 instead of the 1 vs 1 that it should have been now i have to fight the warrior all over again.
I’ll go post on suggestions forum to add the HP bar a purple bar to the left to represent part of the total HP as downed state.
There, from now on at 25% hp you get downed. and at 0% you die.
I agree there is no place for down state in any form of PVP.
give us Resurrection skills instead.

its so theives, eles, w/e class cant go into big groups use up all of their high damage AOE, skills then either run out or just suicide taking how ever many ppl or under levels they managed to get

Even on the Ranger I can use my “Downed Skill #3” and my pet will rez/rally me whether the pet was dead or not(now the dead or not part is a bit excessive)

I always thought GW2 would be much much better game if they just raised HP to all classes and removed downed state completely. Downed state in DnD: Neverwinter is perfect downed allies have small time window where you can res them (much more quickly then in GW2) and they get “downed penalty” which means you cant be res 2x in row, there has to be some time between. Also you die fairy quickly in downed state and you cant do anything except calling for help, not like in GW2 where you get couple tens of thousands HP to annoy the crap out of your oponent..

I hope they remove it from the game completly in near future. It’s the most annoying thing I remember from the start. It looks pathetic for myself (as a fantastic hero) when I’m downed. I’m a hero and I should die western style when I get killed. But it looks like I’m crying for help and doing “go away” moves when I get hurt. It is ten times more annoying in PvP. I’d say f… tactics/mechanics, its not fun.

I so agree with you OP. nothing makes me feel like a complete useless toolbag more than the downed state! What a dumb gimmick that turned out to be. If I’m going to die, then just let the toon die. As if enemies will not focus on the “hero” on the ground. Hate this feature, always have really. Combats fun, downed state is weak sauce.
So Thieves can pop out of stealth, get a free kill on undergeared/upleveled players then run away? Hell no. Replace Thief with everyone with some burst damage that is worth something, it’s not only Thieves that can do this, but it will help them more than anyone else. Maybe Elementalists too.
In a game that you die so easily as in GW2 the downed state is an excellent buffer to make sure “lucky” shots won’t get kills, why should they?
But more than any of this, last I checked the objective in WvW wasn’t to kill other players in some weird duel. Your objective is to capture keeps, take supply camps and siege the big castle, I don’t see anything that downed state helps in doing/preventing those.
I agree, I dislike downed-state greatly. Raise health of everyone, remove downed-state. It is such a gimmicky feature.

If they were noobs, they deserver to die. So u saying f. skilled player and protect a noob that dont even know what stunbreak is, bc his momma is next to him? Yeah..i know what kind of ppl defending downed state, hello there.
If they want to keep downed state then rez speed should be nerfed by 100%, and stomp animation be twice as fast

Its doenst add any tactic at all, all its does is promotes noob styles gameplay without forcing us to actually learn how to play to not die in future. For mistakes u should be punished. U died > learn > go dominate. Next please

I wouldn’t want to remove it just to make it easier to kill or whatever just have health pools go up. My main gripe with it is that it feels dumb. One minute I’m some kind of hero the next I’m throwing stones like a little kitten. I’d rather have my head sliced off and die in glory then to go out like an elderly peron who fell down the stairs.

You know these videos when they roam WvWvW and kill a whole group because of the stealth mechanic?

This is exactly why it’s bad in wvw. It promotes the zerg as opposed to the roamer. Whoever has the higher number almost always wins. And currently in wvw, lopsided teams occur very often. It is not fun at all to solo roam because you’re always at a disadvantage.
I still think it’s a great feature. Reviving an ally feels good, just like being saved by a friendly ally feels good. The tension there is when you have to stomp a foe, as his allies are running towards you, while you are low on health, is fun. The choice between killing a foe to rally an ally, or reviving an ally while getting hit by a foe, makes for great dynamic gameplay.
Mostly this is just a “state of mind” problem. A downed player is not a dead player. Meaning, you shouldn’t waste all your “energy” on simply downing a player, because a player is only dead when he is defeated. So when you are fighting another player, you must also consider the time it takes for you to stomp him. The downed state is part of defeating a foe, it’s not something “extra” you have to do. That is the mindset you have to have when playing PvP.
