The first week of the new wvw match system we get matched against DB and get owned. Its a new system Im willing to deal with a rough patch to get fun new fights. The next week we get FA and are beaten again. Still new system I guess maybe next week will be better. This week both FA and DB thanks for the balanced match ups Anet guess theres always next week.

In the middle of the pack, there’s around a 1 in 3 chance you’ll be the top server in your matchup. Just unlucky, I guess.

Maguuma WvWvW Vacation Week 1.

When KN and YB moved down and still had good fights with CD, and now looks like with EB as well, it started to look like Mag is just an odd duck in strength/population.

A little too big for the old T3, which puffed up their points, but not really strong enough to compete with the big boys in T1, T2. Yet it seems that is where the new system is most likely to shuffle them.

Every server gets stuck in these tough situation ruts. Should try to depopulate a little and sink back down to the great cluster around T4 which has about 6 similar strength teams. Otherwise, might be in for more humble pie.

The mods are getting back at Maguuma for all those weeks of having to clean up their WvW threads :P

But seriously, just play the thing out. Last week DB got matched up with JQ and BG, both of which have superior coverage. On top of that, JQ did nothing but go for DB’s throat the first weekend. Life sucks sometimes, you just have to keep playing and roll with the punches.

Keep sending your entire kitten map to take SE camp on your borders, then leave without so much as attempting the tower or keep. Obviously you guys have nothing better to do. That’s some great “tactics and skill”.

We don’t really even do that badly. It’s just that we have ~T6 oceanic presence, which tanks our score, which makes people stop playing. Give us a scoring system that doesn’t reward 24/7 coverage above all else and maybe people would be a little more motivated to play.

I was there. Not the DB commander, nor anybody in TS or map chat, knew that FA was going for Mag’s keep until they had already taken it. True story.

This post in itselkittend of embodies everything this thread is about. Mag was nowhere to be found because they lost everything very quickly, they’re the weakest server and they’ll be hit first. Take the least threatening out the picture quickly and get on with the real fights, it’s happened to us before, it’ll happen to us again and we’ve done it plenty of times to the weakest server too. Simply put, in eternal was it even worth going there? We wouldn’t have been able to muster enough players to deal with the two queued groups roaming around the map taking stuff and killin’ doodz, why even bother? Might aswell be the phrase for the matchup.
Why even bother with the matchup when we’ll be dominated and won’t hold a single waypoint for most of the week, when we’ll be the first place NNK shows up with 60 people at as the clock strikes the Bonytime and the first to get large groups of FA or DB’s NA when we finally start taking stuff back because it’ll all be wooden and the easier target, it’s an uphill battle with very little rewards for playing, ‘Oh you want some good fights? Well darn you should have had more players on this late at night then sonny! Because you’re not going to get even close to an even fight.’

If despite the differences in populations people ran around in groups of 20(ish) like for example AGG does ~much respect~ even if we lost our whole BL and eternal I’d sure as hell keep fighting for the fun of fighting the other groups, the issue is that when the population stacks they don’t spread out with multiple groups of decent sizes. They all stack at one point and run around in wtfskilllag80manlawnmowers, we’ve done it with out karma trains and it’ll happen to us this week. But it sure as hell isn’t fun.

As I mainly roam I’m not going to find many 1v1’s….I’d settle for 1v2’s, it’s not going to happen because the size of a roaming community shrinks in comparison with size of the megazergs. We started zerging more and lost alot of our roamers, simply put they want more even fights so transfer down to where the fights are more suited to their needs, not going to blame them for it. Same as I’m not going to complain about the people that stack on the higher servers, because apparently wtfskilllag80manlawnmowers are fun for some people, I don’t see how, but others do and it’s their choice. I’ll complain that anet stuck us with a matchup that does this because it’s apparently fun? Right?

We’re going to lose, hard. It’s not that we’re losing why people won’t show up. Hell my favorite matches are one’s where we lose. People won’t show up because being roflstomped by 60 guys isn’t fun, fighting close to even numbers where actual ability comes into play, that’s fun, but that won’t happen this week. So. Why even bother?

Speed of whining puts you in a higher tiered matchup.

Last week against JQ and BG I kept my spirit up by looking at how well we did, when we could. There were times we posted +200 PPT vs 2 T1 servers. Think about this with regards to what the OP said. It is all about coverage. if you want to win a matchup you should transfer to another server. Otherwise fight the good fight.

I also agree that Anet hates Maguuma. look at the daily “maguuma killer” does any other server get that attention? I also didnt get that daily achievement when i killed you guys last night…must be bugged

Dont get me wrong, I feel sorry for any server that gets stuck in a lopsided match up I really do, but so far only mags has deemed itself important enough to make a forum topic asking for sympathy. Try sor and TC for size, then get back to me I might be more sympathetic then.

Enjoy the fights wherever they are. Bugger the score.

Once in a while is ok, but it’s pretty much a constant from some of your more vocal community members.

The problem that we have in Mag is that we don’t have real competition in T3 but we can’t stand any T2 server because of the mass population that they have around the clock.

We either need oceanics to fight T2 or less people in NA to fight in T3/T4

No worries guys we only need to add TC our collection. Maybe a SoR-TC- Mag next week oh boy fun fun fun.

We at least don’t have it as bad as SoS. We are losing a ton of rating points right now so theoretically we have less chance of being paired with higher tier servers. SoS meanwhile has managed to gain a ton of rating points while losing badly to even higher ranked opponents. This means that they have a very high chance of facing those higher tiered servers again.

I’m sorry (and please excuse the old tier references), but that’s no excuse for a T3 server to be outmanned in EB three hours after reset against two T2 servers. All that is is people giving up.

Giving up, true. But once again, the second we’d take anything we’d swiftly be reminded we shouldn’t have done so by the 2 80manwtfskilllag lawnmower zergs, even with a decent presence on the field we’d not have had a chance with the 2 larger servers divebombombing us for ppt, the people who would have been in eternal would have been better of doing something else…Like probably PvE or something.

It’s funny that our rating has been going down, but our rng has been going up which cancels out the loss on rating. Been stuck as blue in “tier 3” the whole time since the change.

Hang on, just because we’ve (SoS) been stuck facing mainly t2 servers the past 3 weeks doesn’t mean we’re a t2 server.

The rankings and ratings are all still there. There is still a technically a tier 1,2,3 and so on, but the difference is the rng that’s been added that goes along with the rating the scrambles the matches to an extent. With DB’s rating and a high rng, that is what shot up DB to tier 1 and be green.

4. All the excuse making, while calling servers out for getting transfers/having better coverage.
5. All the excuse making, while Maguuma E-thugs actually send players mail talking and calling players out.

The ratings that you see is the true ratings, without the rng (random number generator). That random number that is given to each server none of us knows what we get. It doesn’t show for us, and only Anet knows what is given. The rng doesn’t add up every week. A new one is given on every reset.

Edit: I should add that is why you saw DB, with a lower rating, be above BG, JQ, and SoR. That random roll, that none of us knows what DB got, was huge enough to hop over all the servers that was above them. Now DB got a low roll which dropped them to the top of tier 3.

mags you had no problem beating kain and yaks senseless for 3-4 weeks b4 the match change and when you get moved up to fight above the people you where stomping every week you complain…hmmmm

The scores were pretty darn close every one of those weeks, actually. The gap at the end was almost always less than the gap in score between DB and Maguuma now. But sure, keep on revising history. And a lot of us were still getting bored of the match, and Kaineng was losing guilds anyway so there wasn’t much more to get out of that matchup.

Edit: I should also say that I would be very surprised if many members of the WvW-concentrated guilds actually did not like last week’s matchup. Ehmry was a very close contender score-wise and FA actually likes to fight open field.

Im on magumma and I hate megummer. The whole server is terrible cept like 100 people most of which are never together or in same guilds. Everyone else on the server amazes me that they even have motor functions to breath. Their reaction time and situational awareness makes me wanna cry just playing a game with them. I can’t even imagine driving a car on same road as these people, and whats shocking is they are likely out on roads everyday. I laugh anytime other servers call mag out for chest thumping about being good, mag isnt good at all where are you reading this? You likely make it up in your minds after you lose 1v1s and small fights to good mag players then in your anger about losing to even numbers you go on forums and cry about mag server chest thumping. Mag as a wvw server is awful and belongs in tier diddly squat. This pic sums up average mag player in a nut shell.

It’s WvW players in general. It never ceases to amaze me how completely oblivious most of them can be, especially the ones that just play in EB all the time. Sometimes I just sit there dead watching one player fight to see what they are actually doing and it will consist of 90% auto-attacks with a few random dodges thrown in that serve absolutely no purpose. That’s why I find myself preferring solo roaming more and more everyday.

Oh on, a server got a bad match up! This is completely unexpected and has never happened before!

Just quit playing WvW if theres nothing you can do about it. Obviously GW2 sets you up with this matchup because they want you to get dominated. Enoughs enough and if all you do is WvW in GW2 than find a new game because that’s obviously what anet wants you to do.
