Will WvWvW Lag Ever Be Fixed?
64 players < 500 players..
Doesn’t matter if they are on your screen or not, all players in a BL effect the computing speed of the map, you can sit in spawn and have skill lag because of a fight on the complete other side.
My fun laughs at your server pride.
I’m only having lag in large scale battles.
Never at spawn, never when roaming.
And what server are you on?

How is this working so smoothly?

If you look closely you’ll see that lots of those players are looking entirely the same (completely the same texture set). So although you see like tons of characters, only 4-5 distinct models are generated (and replicated).
With GW2 that’s impossible: Every player has something different than another one (whether it be another armour, other dyes, ….). So each model of those X players has to be generated..

As I said in my first reply, all of the players on a borderland, from all 3 servers are taking up server space and computing power. When 50 people hit 50 people, it takes time for your attack to hit 5 people, show on your screen, show on their screen.. all the while bouncing back and forth between the server, your client and their client.
Now think of how many attack go out in a 20 second fight, between 100 people. That is why there is lag.
If 50v50 fights don’t happen, lag doesn’t happen. Lag is needed so the servers don’t blow up.
I’m on SoS and run with a group of 20-25, yet to have lag in the last 2 weeks… blob causes lag, players cause the blob…

So the issue is server side?
That plus poor game engine?
Again, I’m no expert, but I’ve read numerous of people saying that they can’t get a decent framerate even on a high end PC.

The issue is that players group together in death-balls upwards of 80 people because it takes almost no skill and that is rewarded. The lag occurs because of the inputs of all of those people on every other person that is in the fight.
If people spread out and ran their own groups and didn’t zerg 80 people, we wouldn’t have lag.
It’s not the individuals computer that is the issue, some of my guildies play on toasters, it’s the fact that the servers can’t really handle anything larger than 50v50 due to the computing power that is needed, that is why lag kicks in.
