I even think Ruby went over this in a stream from earlier this year. There’s too much work to be done and too much work to be looked over to make the wvw maps suitable for gliding. They have no plans to implement this (that im aware of).

“Too much work” for the “major overhaul”.. That they’ve been " working on for a year" before HoT launch..

But yes there are 3 possible answers for it’s release

Anet will resume working on the “overhaul” when the summer interns return in June. So, fourth quarter 2016 for Beta. Probably 2017 for release.

On the up side, there probably won’t be any queues!

If there would allready be something to present they would have started the hype train.. so they´ve got nothing at all i guess …

guys, i hate to say it , but you aren’t asking the guys who made wvw cool to overhaul it, you are asking the guys that replaced them and the borderlands we knew, don’t you think “overhaul” is a bit of an overkill request…..can’t we just be more specific about specific things that we want fixed in a specific way ? i don’t want to pvp on a jumping puzzle, please rethink.

Remember: The same group that gave us the new desert bl maps are doing the redesign. What gives you confidence the redesign will improve anything?

I think it’ll be out in 2016 but I also thought it’d be out by now and I also thought it’d be out with HoT.

I also thought they were going to be making at least token attempts at communication.

I also thought they were going to balance things for specific game modes like they talked about in stream.

So…yeah, I have a pretty awful track record…

Yeah, they did add it to Central Tyria so it could very well end up in WvW.

I don’t know why you guys still believe them after all that time. I reach my peak of cynicism like 1 months ago when hey said “later this year” and I’m glad I did.

Be realistic:
They said SAB is coming back over a year ago: Not true
They said Orbs in WvW were coming back 2 years ago: Not true
CDI thread: of all the suggestions for SMC fights they decided to not do any of them and added a stealth fountain… Yeah, takes like 1 hour to program. Always the cheap way out which turns out to be completely uninstering.

WvW Overhaul: it’s probably going to be like the Siege disabler and the 3 tags color, a tiny bit of nothingness it took 1 programmer 1 day to do. You can expect 1 thing for sure, it’s going to be tied to more gem store kitten because the game is now free to play (that’s the main reason why everything is turning to kitten with the game in the first place and all the rewards were nerfed to oblivion).

They promise random kitten just so that people keep buying kittenty wings and buying gems for legendaries while waiting instead of buying other games and moving on.

At best they’ll merge servers like EotM to hide the fact that 90% of the players left the game already from the new F2P crowd.

They haven’t even finished HoT yet and it’s been released like 4 months ago. Colin said this summer patch is for PvE HoT map fixes cause people don’t play them. WvW Overhaul is probably on the backburner again as usual.

I’ll be back when the complete WvW/Class Balance/SAB/GvG overhaul is released along with new PvP maps and dungeons… Which means probably never.

I haven’t touched GW2 for more than a year now. As far as I recall, they revealed the new map quite far into development, and it didn’t take a hardcore player to see that it was bound to horribly fail. How does Arena Net imagine fixing and overhauling WvW without active player and developer interaction from the early on?

Quite frankly, I just wish they would sink the ship faster at this point, make the game mode more PvE oriented than it is right now and be over with it – stop torturing people.

Im just really afraid that they will concentrate too much on the fact that some servers lack population and punish the top tier servers who actually have a good population even at odd hours for it. Mega servers and no more server pride.

And that will be the death blow against WvW as we know it.

I really hope I’m wrong. But I have a really bad feeling about this.

server pride ? you mean when all the biggest guilds pay to transfer to 1 server to pounce on smaller servers ?

no…..that’s not pride, that’s trolling on a massive scale :p

sorry, I’m a firm believer that Anet made a great thing with wvw, but because some people don’t know how to play fair, anet has to change it. But RIGHT NOW we have a great playing field for some amazing games , if people stopped using “server pride” as a crutch to justify their false wins.

The game is changing because people don’t play fair, not because it’s bad.

Poker doesn’t use goggles, because players respect that you don’t go throwing your cards in your opponents face.

what anet has to change is the ability to cheat. The game itself is fine.

If anet doesn’t address the fact that some gamers just don’t play fair, i don’t care how great anything new is, it will not be good.

Yes and you still have to own HoT. There is nothing in WvW you need to own HoT for unless you want access to Elite specs.

They didn’t listen to wvw player suggestions last time, why be different this time?

I see you still have optimism left.

I’d think it’s more likely that preorders will open up the option for people to buy a WvW glider for 1000 gems, and autoloot for 1500. Both would be per character.

Doubt it. Only reason why you may see it is because Camelot Unchained will be in beta if not closer to an actual release date.

Just on opinion, but they have had a few years to address WvW issues and players concerns. More than likely they know it is a smaller player base than PvE so that is why HoT was out and this is secondary or lower in priorities.

It doesnt matter if it comes this year or next year, if they havent changed there mind about WvW, the update would only be worse as it is now and the balance goes towards the eSport nonsense. So its time to look for alternatives maybe Black Desert can be one.

Think keyword in their statement “overhaul”. WvW didn’t even need an overhaul. Just minor changes that the community was collaborating about in the forums. But because anet seems to be so stubborn and does not listen to it’s wvw community, we are where we are right now population and game mode wise. Nothing is really going to fix this and bring back the masses. They’ve waited entirely too long with several mmos on the horizon. Communication goes a long way, I suggest anet uses it with their player base but it’s been posted in the forums a great many times with zero response from the devs.

I would be surprised to see the overhaul slip into 2017 but I also expect it to be a profound disappointment. I very much hope that I am wrong though.
