Will we ever get a better scoring system?

No, there isn’t a better scoring system for the way WvW matches work. There are only different scoring systems.
The kind of matches that the OP describes will happen regardless.
The ranking algorithm is reacting appropriately, regardless.
It is not the fault of mathematics when people misunderstand it.
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.

I understand the system and how it works.
The issue is the system is not effective in this environment and can not keep up with what is actually happening.
There have been plenty of suggestions on this forum alone that would make for a better system.
Play ‘cap the camps’. Get a team of 5 together and map hop, and see how many camps you can cap and gate guards you can kill before the zerg stomps you.
Until they balance matches and encourage people back into wvw by making it more immersive and rewarding the scoring system and interest in wvw in general will continue to decline.
Given that it took Anet, how many months?, to change the color of the commander tags. And when they did they’re charging us an arm and a leg for it.
No there won’t be a change to the scoring system. Or the matchup system. Or anything else major.
what you guys don’t get, is that the scoring system MUST be bad, in order to favour transfers for bandwagoners.

We won’t ever get a better scoring system. Just settle in and wait for nextgameâ„¢
Been almost two years with nary a significant change to WvW game play. I think we can pretty much assume GW2 WvW will be the way it is for the life of the game.

I suspect:
- Arenanet fired all those “we love DAoC” guys after launch – they were probably freelancers.
- The remaining devs don’t understand WvW or which of the player suggestions would be good changes.
- They are scared to change it in any significant way – if they get it wrong, they would reduce the player-base.
When you take into account:
- They are busy doing gem store stuff and PvE story content.
… it’s a recipe for leaving WvW as is. Forever.
Well we still have not see all that these feature pack has to offer. This is suppose to be a wvw/spvp focused one. The commanded tag and tricks were only a small part hopefully.

I was involved in and supportive of many of those conversations.
The fact remains that none of the proposed alternative scoring concepts were tested and backed by evidence that can show that they are superior as drop-in replacements for the current one.
All of the “this is better” claims are purely baseless.
None of the proposals really capture in their solutions the fact that “the problem” is born from people not having fun when playing for a consistently losing team. Yet, that reality is unavoidable in this system and math isn’t going to save you from it. GG.

Yesterday they talked about balance. Today they talked about the golem mastery and the new trick. Tomorrow they’ll talk about the commander’s tag new collors and it’s stupid price. And thursday they’ll talk about something called “prepare to fight”. There’s nothing scheduled for friday.
I think it’s pretty much it: new tag collors that noone with half a brain will buy for 300g, golem mastery and a new trick. The balance is not WvW-only, so I’m not even counting it.

Yea I have seen all of that from a preview at gamecom. I just thought their would be more, especially for a feature pack. The last feature pack added one Big suprise in the wardrobe and alot of very useful tweaks ferocity, megaserver, dyes, etc. This is just another update, I expected a feature pack to be more.

I’m almost to the point where I hope they’d just go cheap and just base it off glicko rating loss/gain for the week. The server with the most glicko gained wins. Would even appear to make the matchups closer than they really are. At least it would be something since Anet just wants to remain thinking dead center of the box.
Kuju do you remember the match-ups during season 2? The tiers have not changed tthat much. You would get a new server to go up against and both server will be refreshed with a new opponent. Then one server will start to dominate and the other server will complain why they are going up against them.
Most of the wvwer are in the upper tiers, with a few smaller guilds leading their servers in the lower tiers. Do not see a good way to stop server stacking with the 24/7 format currently. If it was a short match like Eotm but with server pride attached to it maybe. Or they can just make fighting matter more in wvw than holding point. My idea: http://tinyurl.com/o5h9po2
