For rewards’ sake, not fun’s sake, it makes more sense to throw certain matches in the last second so you get placed with even worse people who you can sweep, and then repeat the process over and over to always have max bonuses. This behavior isn’t discouraged b/c there are no rewards for winning or ranking highly in WvW.

If you throw the match at last second, you will still have the WvW buffs until the very end of each WvW phase. Imo the major problem is that this game is a lot like DAoC with the main endgame being server wide warfare, but DAoC had real rewards for winning servers, such as a dungeon only the winners could access and such. The problem is two-fold for WvW, firstly, servers don’t get anything special for winning other than raising in rank, and secondly, servers get nothing for being higher ranked other than server pride.

So why not stay lowly ranked forever and farm up the rewards? I mean sure, the rewards are kind of pitiful anyway, so most servers will just try to rank up for more competitive matches, but I hope one server does this, drawin attention to the issue. If its going to happen I forsee it happening to a high-pop PvE focused server, who is really into the rewards, but not the actual WvW gameplay. And even if it never happens, its still a problem b/c the lack of rewards will cause burnout for the top rated WvW servers.

Burn out then. The rewards are good enough as is. If you do not enjoy crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you and hearing the lamentation of their women, this isn’t the game for you. Go get epic lootz somehwere else. Kungfu panda online >>>>

Why are you against having something to fight for. DAoC the game that WvW borrowed heavily from, had TONS of rewards for winning. Also, if these are the only rewards, why not just lose on purpose if you are on a server that is really after those rewards, to get matched with low pop servers, like how I outline in this post?

I agree.
Having everyone that partook in the week long battle receive a large shinny chest if they won full of awesome and unique loot would make WvW perfect.
Even the losers could get chests with less amazing gear.

Maybe 1st place gets 2 pieces of unique WvW gear, 2nd gets 1, and 3rd only gets generic look.

A full WvW Set would be very impressive.
