First, your queue just popped and you enter your favorite stomping ground. You look at the map and find the cross swords and charge in! You are killing everyone and pushing them back to the tower! SUCCESS! Oh crap!! They are rushing out of the gate!! RUN BACK TOO THE BRIDGE!! This is a common Yo-yo effect we spend hours wasting our time with. Unfortunately it is necessary sometimes to keep the other server off our little patch of grass. Here is a list of things I think will help us be more successful and organized (as a server).
The list:
1) When you enter a Borderland get into a group before you get started (even a group of 5 can help get organized). If you are in a group and you stay close together it is easy to hit the same target and protect each other. If you are able to get two 5 man groups together you have a camp raid or a team who can flank a group pushing to our side of the bridge. The point is get in a group and stay together.
2) WvW is a team effort! ALWAYS keep supplies on you! Use supply camps 90% of the time to restock! When we are upgrading walls or adding oil the supplies will deplete as they become available until the upgrade is complete. If the stock hits 0 then the upgrade will sit idle until another Doylak reaches the tower. Do supply runs in small groups so we don’t thin our forces.
3) Siege Equipment…..
Flame Ram – 40 Supply
Arrow Cart – 30 Supply
Ballista – 30 Supply
Catapult – 50 Supply
Trebuchet – 100 Supply
Alpha Golem – 100 Supply
For the more organized groups!
Superior Flame Ram – 40 Supply
Superior Arrow Cart – 40 Supply
Superior Ballista – 40 Supply
Superior Catapult – 60 Supply
Superior Trebuchet – 120 Supply
Omega Golem – 120 Supply
When you drop a siege weapon make sure it gets built within 10 seconds. Make sure you have all the supplies accounted for before you drop anything! You may need to do a supply run before you get started. Announce what and where you plan to drop the weapon so we can get to you in a timely manner. Watch for other players who plan to drop the same item. Pay attention to defensive equipment and removed it before you build(Oil/Canons).
4) Fortify Fortify Fortify – If you can’t afford to upgrade the keep or tower we understand! See who is upgrading it and offer a contribution or ask someone for help. When we take a tower we need upgrades and supplies delivered quickly! We need this as our next base to move forward with our attack. Drop siege and remember restock supplies in small groups to insure we have someone protecting our assets.
5) It is not necessary to be 80 but it helps! You have better gear with better stats and better runes/sigils. It does make a difference!
6) Be a scout! Report any movement you see! Even if its one guy running to the jump puzzle. If we know where everyone is then we can respond faster. Report status on a tower or keep that is being attacked.
7) Know you role! If your character has a heal then use it from time to time. Example: A Elementalist with a staff can jump back and forth from water, fire, air, and earth. Keep people on top of towers pushed back and your team on the rams healed.
8) If you are defending a tower then upgrade it! That includes the supply camp that feeds you!!!
9) Supply Camps – When we take a tower or keep we need the supply camp feeding it ASAP. We need to set up siege in the camp protect it and escort the yak to his destination.
10) Let a guild who will drop buffs claim the towers and keeps. It not only helps the group but it also helps YOU.
11) L2Flank – If a flanking maneuver succeeds, the opposing force would be surrounded from two or more directions, which significantly reduces the maneuverability of the outflanked force and its ability to defend itself. Taking out healers or players running to safety from our main force is a huge hit to the enemy. Don’t be afraid to flank keeps and towers! We thin their defenses when we flank!
