Q:
Would you ride a yak, if possible?
A:
Oooo if this happens, let’s make it something that doesn’t open up until you have escorted the yak on foot x amount of times, that means that we have ground troops and mounted folks and some reward for doing the escorts, in time, a sort of progression. The idea that you can’t fight on it is a good thing… unless we bring in jousting weapons. OMG bundle-type weapons that change according to what creature you mount. Geez, now I’m thinking of Oregon Trail, can we add the ability to drag along a cart of supply anyone can take from with guild perks. Ok, I have to get out of this thread, it excites me too much and I might get tempted to mount the stray cat outside crying and ride it around my woods.

No.(?!)
BlackGate
better yet, why not be a yak?
(to stay on topic: no.)

Id <3 to ride a Yak during the escort process. (When) we dominate the map, it would be very relaxing.
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
I want to be the yak.
Crimson Imperium Reborn
I’d like to see that mount that yak and maybe take an alternative delivery rout.
I don’t always ride a yak, but when I do, I choose a yak from yak’s bend.

Well there’s your problem.
This yak is all bent.

In Soviet Borderlands, Yak rides you.
I’ve already suggested exactly that thing during twitch casts.
Surely agree that it would make it less boring because you could spin around watching for action. No piloting though, it’s a beast that has a plan, I’d let it run where it was expected else someone could sabotage it by taking it into mobs. Heck, you could throw a twist on it and make it when you mounted it, it was a trading post npc where you could collect your cash, that might make escorting more appealing for 15 seconds and get more ppl near it. Or, make it a special sort of vendor that offered up what other players vendored in the last hour. Might see something come up you could profit from. Ok, that part I took from my mmo notebook ideas. Have a plan for a caravan that you can hop on as a free mount and play mini-games with other players also on the ride acting as a vendor like that.

Only Chuck Norris is allowed to ride a Yak.
Asura Thief
Elona Reach
Dual pistol Yak riding, all my want!

I want a speed booster that transforms you into a yak while out of combat. I would pay gems for this.
Well, that would bring back nostalgia of another MMORPG I used to play called Silkroad Online [SRO]. Everyone was either a thief, a trader or a guard – you could change these jobs by wearing different suits. They would put you in a combat mode and basically the traders would load up camels and transport goods across the entire world map, selling the goods to NPCs upon reaching their destination safely. They could make a fine profit doing so however other players wearing the thief suit could scout these traders out and kill them for their goods, and sell them on the black market. So traders would pay other strong PVP players to wear the guard suit, and protect them from thieves.

I think it would be cool if one person could ride a yak to keep. Fighting from it should be prohibited, though. Perhaps it could gain your passive abilities while you’re on it. And if you ride it from the camp, all the way to one of the destinations, you should get karma. If you get off, or are knocked off, it should cancel. Heck, make it an achievement.
Great ideas, so far!
Maybe the yak should be invulnerable when someone is on top, and you have to knock back the rider off the yak first.
I imagine some nice animation of the rider landing on his butt.
Yes. I want battle yaks bristling with siege weaponry, like the elephant beasts in return of the king.

Lets not compare this game to SRO, the bot influx is already here, with which I get some serious Joymax vibes. I can only hope Anet doesn’t wreck the game with Pay2Win content and terrible balancing decisions like Joymax did.
