Wow, Sanctum of Rall just jumped from tier 5 to 3
Current points: Sanctum of Rall has 429k points – Yak’s Bend 98k points – Gate of Madness 57k points. This happen to SoR we own!
Took all of SF’s peeps.
Nah, but good job SoR. And to think, I remember killing you just 4 weeks ago…

A bunch of our JQ guilds who were regulars in WvWvW transferred to SoR this week.
That thief shooting rainbows at you? That’s me.
It is still too close to call. I think they will but they are really close to TC right now
And unless I’m mistaken the 3 JQ guilds went to SoS not SoR
Mass transfer of players from a high ranked server to a low ranked server.
After a slow start due to a couple new talented WvWvW guilds trying to fit in with the SoR mainstays, we obliterated the competition on Sunday to the point of surrender for a lot of them. After that we had on influx of the owning server of the week people that enjoy spawn camping which just made the lead grow and grow. Hopefully with the help of these new guilds we can find a good match up in tier 3 against a couple of servers that continually steamrolled us in the daily match ups.
If they do actually jump to 3 it will be an intersting matchup sos and sor 2 newly infused servers
SoR did some work !
80k kills and counting
Mass transfer of players from a high ranked server to a low ranked server.
…and if we win our matchup this week in tier 3, what will you whine about then? More transfers?

Someone explains why the sudden rise in SoR and you say that it’s whining?

They think “skill” is what allowed them to dominate this week. It’s really amusing. It was pretty much raw numbers/being in the wrong bracket with the newly transferred and then the massive bandwagoners. They flat out refuse to even acknowledge the fact that the huge influx of WvW players had anything to do with it and even bragged how good they were in the closed thread.

We acknowledge the xfers and that they are probably the reason why we got to tier 3 so fast. But we were winning before without them, like we showed last week.
I play on SoR. I’m excited to play this week, but I have a feeling that the current mechanics (orbs + transfers + insurmountable leads + …) aren’t working super great. If all the victories in the top half of the table are ~300k points, something isn’t right.
The reason the point differential is large is because points accrue linearly and losing teams give up part-way through. That is the crux; the ancillary problems are the same as everyone knows: free xfers causing a domino and off-hours population shifts with no matching shifts in point accrual (point accrual should be scaled to the total WvW population that is present).
Tbh most of WvW is working fine. The current main problems are things on the fringe or outside of the WvW maps themselves.
TSoR won the match with a stacked deck. Anyone who tries deny that fact is being delusional. The pure arrogance thinking your win revolves around the servers determination and “skill” shows just how unprepared your server is to for the higher teirs. The ques will jump just as JQ did and once again those “pro” guilds that can’t get their zerg groups into games will jump to another server and start the process over again. It is a vicious circle.
Whether you would have won or lost this game prior to the other guilds joining is a moot point. Time will be the deciding factor how long they stay.
Hrm… Looks like I may have the opportunity to go head to head against an old partner Mira soon

We don’t think this win revolved anything close to skill.
Our other wins did. We won all those without transfers. The only real reason we’re even skipping a tier is because we have been pretty uncontested. When the opposing servers don’t show up, we have a constant point gain which throws our score out of balance.

Jed, if we climb to SBI rankings, maybe I can see another flame ram train as a welcoming fight opening. :P
I wouldn’t mind fighting all the people I used to fight with. Just don’t want to climb that high in rankings unless its slowly, over time.

I just thought I’d add that SoR is seeing such a huge rating increase is because they entered the match as the #2 server, and are crushing the #1 server in the match, who is actually taking 3rd. The score disparity, as well as more tightly bunched ratings through the middle of the server list is how they jumped 5 spots in one week. Something similar is happening with IoJ this week, but they’re gaining even more rating because they are the #3 server crushing the #1 server. BG is also crushing their game but are gaining less rating because they were the #1 server.
Blah blah anyways .. yeah it’s how the rating system works.

it’s rather interesting seeing these kinds of posts considering how ‘polite’(used lightly) SoR has been in the matchup thread. you won. do not become arrogant because of it. hopefully you retain the insta-30man zergs the rest of this(meaning after match up reset) week. know why you won. GOM is a server with college kids and casual gamers from the looks of it. we simply do not have the numbers(say whatever you want, numbers mean more than strategy at this point almost always) to repel 30 people from a tower
on top of the abuse of mesmer’s portal i’m not sure what you want us to say. sure we’ve got some good commanders, and i can’t and won’t blame them for being demoralized. seeing a keep you fully upgraded fall in 10 minutes to a 50 deep mob can do that. you may even beat that mob off the first time, but seeing another one in less than 2 minutes is the nail in the coffin. (add YB fighting us instead of you until SOR was taking their stuff. their BL was completely blue and still they fought us)
matchups needs to be on rank AND population. i don’t care how highly ranked GoM is in the server rankings, most of us just enjoy wvwvw and …everything i listed isn’t that well, enjoyable.

Congratulation Sanctum of Rall for the crushing victory!
We all succeeded to show everyone what determined and skillful players can do.
I would propose that “Quality Over Quantity Always Prevails” to be the Sanctum of Rall new motto.
Anybody else that somehow feel frustrated or bitter at the moment, please do not be sad as there is always hope and that your time will come.
I hope it’ll be an interesting week. The ingredients are there – Crystal Desert, a perennial B2/3 contender and solid performer. Sea of Sorrows, capitialising on its initial strengths and now with the aid of good performances in the NA timezones. Sanctum of Rall, leaping up off of the back of a crushing victory.
In truth though, this could end up rather dull. It could turn out that newly-transferred people, still trying to find their feet, are no match for CD that’s actually had solid experience at this level and who are presumably used to working together by now. It could be that with the more than just numerous number of NA guilds that have moved over to SoS, combined with its already formidable Oceanic presence, they’re simply going to overpower the other two with ease simply through greater presence around the clock.
Or, with no disrespect intended, SoR could fall flat on their face. There’s a huge difference between being able to beat opposition in the lower brackets and being able to beat opposition further up. It probably would’ve been a smarter move to have cut your teeth on FA and DB in B4 first, if only to give the newly-transferred lot some more time to work things out and figure out how they all gel together. I don’t think anyone ran with that specific plan on SoS, to avoid B2, but I equally don’t think anyone was motivated to work their socks off and jump straight up there. It’s a lot tougher further up and the tricks that might’ve work against some worlds just won’t pan out. You can’t just have a small presence capping things in the off-peak to boost your points because everyone’s got that sorta presence.
Still, I hope you folks do well and it’s a genuinely interesting fight this week. Would be disappointed to see folks giving up even if it does turn into a bit of a curb-stomp for one side or another.
This week will definitely be interesting and our original guilds may be in for a bit of a shock. I don’t consider this past week as a win, but more of a restructure. In hindsight I was honestly glad to have a break from the close matches we had in previous weeks. I just hope that the next few weeks are going to be a challenge, I love uphill battles and I am expecting at least one in the next fortnight.
I have no interest in how or why we won this week and I have no interest in the constant drama. I have a lot of respect for the teams that still got out there and fought against overwhelming odds, but I have none for those that just retreated to the forums to complain and flame us. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens when Darkhaven and Northern Shiverpeaks catch up to you.
