WvW Armor/Runes/Weapons/Sigils
Cos a fair amount of people like me find that one of the reasons we dont like spvp is because of the limit on gear customization n making theorycrafting a lot more limited etc. Well thats not the reason its not like that in the game but its probably a big reason no-ones asking for it.

Sure, but hence the “…modified if necessary” portion of the question.
It’d be cool if there was some kind of rental system. Give a vendor a few badges + gold then you could pick any exotic gear + rune/sigils you wanted. If you log out or leave wvw the gear would then be removed.
I see your point, but there are people that virtually LIVE in WvW. I’m looking for permanency.
In a way, there is such a system already, by way of bad consequences of previous design decisions. That is, when we buy exotic items with badges, as with karma, we can never salvage them. How’s that for permanency?
Perhaps related, I suspect, level 500 (ascended) crafting for jewelry is looking like it’s much longer delayed than projected. Its material slots have been in the bank collectibles section for a while. My bet is on some hand-wringing worry about how it balances against ascended trinket acquisition through other heavily time-gated or expensive currencies (laurels, ecto, tournament tickets, etc.). They’ve already made it irrelevant (and a massive mistake) to buy some things from certain vendors.
I think that separating WvW builds from PvE would do one of two bad things. Either it would introduce a new barrier to entry, if game currency was involved, or it would invalidate significant player investments, if current gear became PvE only.
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.

While I don’t think that WvW equipment should be split off entirely from PvE, I would like to see a “WvW build” saved so that when you log into WvW it automatically swaps in your favourite WvW build and equipment so I don’t need to spend a couple of minutes each time changing my weapons, armor and traits. :P

Great thoughts – but I don’t really understand HOW it would introduce a new barrier. PvP has had its system since launch…albeit the layout for selecting everything changed (HUGE improvement imo). I’ve noticed that there are TONS of WvW-only players…and since they have a handle on it, they kinda down-play PvE except for the skins. So, my point is, make it quicker to find the build you want in WvW, and introduce new players to it faster, just like PvP (I would never have done PvP if it didn’t have the system it does).

Yes, but I don’t see how a WvW build save would work WITHOUT mirroring the PvP set up. It really needs its own system. Again, I think this would result in people that come to it staying longer, and even increase the draw to WvW.

He means for example: I have a power build for my guild raids (zerg-busting) and i have a condi build for my solo roaming, its a pain to have to switch out all the gear, traits, skills etc every time I switch ‘game mode’. It would be a cool (and a lot of wvw players agree) to be able to maybe save it as a tab on the equipment section of the hero panel ‘power’, ‘condi’ and with one click of a button switch build completely.
Difficult bit would be connecting it to inventory or bank, so the system checks you have that gear available to switch to.

I COMPLETELY agree – like profile saving in GW1…which has been requested uber-many times. But the point I’m making is that I don’t think you can “activate/swap” from one profile to another WITHOUT having a separate system in WvW…unless you’re talking about implementing the profile system across both PvE and WvW – which would be great.
But again, just having a profile system wouldn’t attract more people to WvW…because the profile system would presumably be across both PvE and WvW. I guess I just don’t know which would be more difficult to implement: a profile system or mirroring the PvP set up style to WvW. But if players were able to tinker with builds in WvW the way they are in PvP, population, I believe, would increase.
