Guild Wars 2

We demand(please) that WvW players get our own badges like sPvP and PvE players do.

Also, if this was to be made, we could reduce the names to ‘Sea of Sorrows Invader’ without the need to include the WvW rank in to the name and reduce it to a nice badge that you can see if you target or mouse over an enemy or server mate.

WvW rank is a joke due EotM. The badge would have no value if it was based on WvW rank.

The enemy name plate only needs server + guild. For example instead of Ring of Fire Mithril Assaulter [Much], my name could only show up as RoF [Much].

Unfortunately, I will admit that thanks to the inclusion of EotM that ranks mean less than nothing. I would still like the option to show my ranks if for no other reason that to let those that know me on my server and in my guild to see my ranks.

In a perfect world there would be another icon that appears when the majority of your ranks were “earned” in EotM that went along side of your rank, but then again that would lead to more clutter.

Actually I would wear mine with pride seeing as, to me, it means that I prefer an organized large team environment with my guild and friends to the toxicity that is PvP.

Pretty much.
I have seen plenty of players that were hard carried by their teams. And let’s not act like there is a whole lot of skill left to the game with all the broken HoT kitten that was added. PvP got to the point where you would have entire games where no one could take a point because of the broken bunker/support builds that required the majority of your team to kill.

this is pretty bad because commanders and such will need to know the rank of a player so they can call them out. exp.

It’d be cool, though as mentioned above it won’t mean that much.

Do we really need to waste the devs’ time on these sorts of things, or dealing with the rivers of salty tears that flow over relatively innocuous changes?

Anet, please just keep doing what you’ve been doing lately. Communicating your plans, sticking to those plans, and checking in with the player base semi-regularly to help guide your planning.

Actually i wish they make it so that enemy name tag are completely unseen making it possible for people to ambush without stealth but using the environment.

I’d have to agree. While legendary status does attribute to a level of skill, all it takes is having a competent guild team to roll over the pug pick up groups. You could equate that to the blob mentality of WvW…

Now if there was a solo queue with solo badges, that would mean more. But now while i see someone at max rank in spvp, i just say ‘nice premade you got there’…

I cannot really agree with that argument.

There was another discussion of commander sniping on these forums. The forum search is still broken so I cannot find and link it, sorry. WvW rank is only one of many ways to identify the commander.

If you are in the same squad or party you could simply put a target on the enemy commander. With privileges you can also put a markers on it.

However if you are not in squad you are indeed limited to calling out the rank or appearance of the enemy. Both of which are not very reliable.
