As i am seeing some changes in WvW being applied in December.
It got me wondering if anything new is being cooked up in Anet’s kitchen that relates to WvW?
Has a CDI about WvW been picked up yet?
Has a suggestion been going around the boardroom to make WvW a viable part of Guildwars2?
Are any dev’s assigned to create awesome stuff for WvW?

Guess they planned the test weeks with the no white swords or so. Apart from that dont hold your breath on new stuff. Maybe a ninja revamp here and there with a tower like thye did with quentin lake.
Too bad
A chance of scenery would do WvW alot of good.

I feel like we (WvW community) have been teased with the Silverwaste PvE patch.
I think it’s interesting and shows that there are mechanics that might be applied to WvW such as the res-able caravans and air-strikes. I don’t know how viable these would be but I hope they get put in one of the test periods.
Also, the fortresses are quite pretty, I wonder if a new WvW map could use those textures… or something.
Couple things I’d like to see implemented that came from the Silverwastes map is a possible auto-repair and auto-tagging of siege functions.
Instead of running upgrades on a tower or keep, you can select an “upgrade” that drains the supply in the tower/keep to repair it automatically. The upgrade can be started and stopped by whomever. Same rate of repair (10 supply = 10 supply repaired), done by the available worker(s). Best case scenario would be to have this running once all other upgrades are completed to help repair keeps without forcing WvW players to do this menial task over and over again.
Besides this, you can put in an upgrade that takes 50-55 minutes to finish, no matter what, and tags all the siege within the keep. Can also be started/stopped by anyone. Only drains supply at completion (can be 200-300 supply).
Cut the boring kitten out of WvW like repairing, and tagging siege to allow for more of the primary feature of the game mode: PvP combat.
Do not expect nothing but do not get too excited. 2+years of GW2 as taught us that.
They are testing removing white swords soon.
In other words: They are doing the strict absolute minimum when it comes to WvW.

If that’s the kind of ideas they’re thinking about, it’s probably better for them to continue to leave WvW alone to slowly bleed out and die.
As for automatic upgrades/cancelling upgrades: sounds like a troll/griefer’s dream. And Anet has shown they have zero intention to meaningfully deal with trolls (see troll thread where they clearly did not want to put in mods).

Honestly if they could only say “Yes we are preparing a major update for WvW” they would put an end to all the cynical and pessimistic posts.

Why would they want to do that? It’d kill the forum!

No it wouldn’t. At this point, who would believe them? Unless by “major,” they mean something along the lines of adding a commander tag colors (each color sold separately, of course).
I feel bad for ANet because a big problem with the playerbase is perception, and I think it’s because of the the tiny updates they drop. (and not even) I see a bunch of posts saying nothing happens for WvW, but we got siege disablers and golem mastery a little while ago, and we have some tweak bug fixes here and there. It’s not like nothing happens, it’s just nothing substantial. People are always talking about wanting expansions because it’s a guaranteed huge release of content, but I think these same people would blow through the majority of it in under two weeks anyway.
I think a bit more transparency will help show that they really are working on something, even if the WvW team is doing other stuff.

Siege disablers and golem mastery: when you measure the amount of work they do on WvW in terms of minutes per year, you know theres’ something wrong.

Unfortunately, I think ANET picked the few items that most people said were bad ideas and decided to implement those. Crazy.
Instead, I’d love to see smaller changes like 1 person can’t contest a keep.
It took them almost a year to come out with different color commander tags don’t get your hopes up
Bump……
We need change and not pocket change.
lol. nothing is going to happen or will happen for wvw. just ride the time out and pray the next game is good
YEs it will be and it already has lot better wvw mode.
Most likely if wvw population will go under certant limit it will be canned. Some where next year i asume.
It took A-net ~6month to test and develop Eotm. The last time I heard of A-net talking about doing something with WvW was season 2 and nothing came from it. Not even the CDI they promised. With every update I think they will add more for wvw but it is more pve stuff. WvW is the last thing A-net thinks about improving do not expect much from it. Not even a long term goal other than having 7000 wxp point with nothing to use them on.
Knowledge of the maps is a fundamental advantage in WvW. The best players know the maps very well and incorporate that knowledge into their strategy. eg: Can you hit that from here? Can they see us from there? How long does it take to run from there to there?
Anet has to take that into consideration when modifying the maps.
