Gold returned?
Can we, the players upgrading keeps with siege etc get some sort of buff that grants extra magic find or something per gold spend on a WvW border?
Ran trough all guild and personal gold trying to keep a WvW community active facing disastrous odd’s.

Today i ran out of gold, siege and the will to spend one more dime on WvW.
unfortunately this means no more keeps or towers held during prime time and a starting tick of 0 each evening.

So maybe it’s an idea to add rewards to WvW for building and upgrading keeps..
kinda like the AP chest, but then for gold spend, siege bought, keeps upgraded.

I would love to see some reward for spending about 70g weekly to be able to draw people to play the game mode i like.

Yeah… I’ve given up on spending that much a long time ago. If WvW is designed to be a gold sink, there needs to at least be more incentive to play it so we get healthier populations.

I agree, the player who spends gold for upgrades, should receive a reward, whatever that would be: +% WXP & MF gain boon according to amount spent for example and more, or points that can be converted into outfits or those boosters sold in gem shop.

This. Yes, it’s unhealthy for WvW when players no longer upgrade, but looking at how Anet manages WvW, I don’t think they care (or they are completely oblivious as to what makes WvW run… probably both).

You do, its called real life karma.
If your the only one spending all your gold on upgrades, your real life karma increases.
If your the stingy one that never does upgrades and demand others to do upgrades, your real life karma decreases.

Try asking in map chat for donations. A few times, after running through a few gold and earning nothing, I’ve asked someone else to run an expensive upgrade (to a keep or SMC) because I was out of gold and I got several gold from other players via mail in response. If other people appreciate your work, they might help you pay for it.

That said, I’ve suggested an upgrade completion rebate. Give players half the gold they spent to start an upgrade back if their upgrade completes, providing incentive to make sure it does.

Part of strategy in this game is to make your enemy run out of supplies so they can be easily defeated.

Gold is a supply, its what allows you to do upgrades.

If your playing against a strong server like Jade Quarry you will learn harshly that we will take your kitten from you after you start with those goldsink upgrades. Tier 1 is rough, be thankful most of you aren’t in Tier 1 WvW, because you wouldn’t last against Jade Quarry.

Again gold is part of supply, and by all means it shouldn’t be made any cheaper, instead it should be more expensive because of how easy it is to get gold now. Taking out enemy supplies is part of strategy. Don’t start making WvW bland and less about strategy.

I do wish this game had a difference between bank gold and carried gold. I wish that you could loot your enemies carried gold.

True, but when your server isn’t very good in strategy and continue to lose fights, that’s when your ‘supply’ dwindles because what the tarmini champ says “Your Will Will Be Broken”. Basically your server population stops playing WvW because the will to keep on trucking on those heavy defeats just isn’t worth it anymore.

If you look at servers like Sea of Sorrows and Sanctum of Rall, they duked it out with us, but eventually there will was broken, and went sent them back home to T3 and below servers because there players just stopped logging into WvW to get whooped. If people get a bad enough whooping, they just never enter WvW anymore.

Kinda similar to PvP, people coming to play PvP, they totally unaware that everyone is stacking team and farming them, whooping them so bad they don’t play PvP anymore either.

PvE is the only safe haven from getting whooped.

If you guys want to see true strategy of using all the elements of the game, a TRUE WvW dominant server, join Jade Quarry. You know what they say, if you cant beat em….. JOIN EM!!!

Unless your in a close match-up (which there rarely are), spending gold on upgrades is worthless. The top server in the match-up can upgrade once, and pretty much not have to upgrade again.

For the other 2 servers, upgrading is pointless since the higher server can paper your keeps and towers at will.

“At will” is a relative term since most servers only paper things during off-hours… Even while Eredon Terrace was at the bottom, a T3 keep would hold through the prime time despite facing superior numbers. A paper keep surely wouldn’t.

And what this have to do with my statement?

nobody is asking for upgrades to be free they are asking for a reward for spending their gold and that is very fair. at the very least you should gain world exp for giving not one not two but a whopping 3 shyts about your servers success and putting your money where your mouth is. and im sorry but if your dropping superior siege like its candy the world your on owes you something and NOBODY would complain if you gained some WvW exp for it infact you can have some karma and glory badges too ill even give you some of mine.
