WvW Guild Mission: Collect Power Cores
The guild mission description says it starts once per hour on one of the borderlands. Assuming this is correct, you could split in three teams – one team per map – and roam/wait until it starts on one of the maps.
I actually prefer this mission to stay, because it’s very easy to do, even with small guilds. (Your experience may vary, depending on which server/tier you’re on.) But yeah, it’s actually a pve mission.
Don’t say it’s a pve mission, I had a team of 4 guildies jump in to stop a guild from doing it, while they had about 13 people they were spread out and the ones carrying the cores were vulnerable especially if left alone, we had a blast till they actually completed it and grouped up to stomp us :P
But yes Shukriyya speaks the truth, the wiki says it happens every 3 hours in ONE map, but each map is an hour off so if it starts at 1 pm in blue bl, it will start at 2 pm in either red or green bl, and then 3 pm in whichever the last one is, and with the event lasting an hour if nobody is doing it basically means it could be up the entire hour.

We had this guild mission just last night. We didn’t want to bother with splitting our guild up across three maps (we split up on a single map already) just to wait for notification and were prepared just not to do it. Luckily the event started on a map we were on right before the end of our raid (about two hours of waiting). It would be nice to have some sort of notification of which map the event is going to spawn.

I’m assuming there is a pattern that after a while of WvW being out will be known and common. The first event will always take place on the same map and the same time meaning, you should know that if the time is x the event in on y map. Just too new for people to know this. Also 3 hour timeframe splits evenly into a day so they same map will have the same event every time for the week. Meaning, if blue bl has it at 6PM on Monday it will have it at 6PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday ect. It’s actually set up nicely so there is always a map you should ‘focus’ on as a server because either the event is going on (huge event) or you need to attack or defend based on how the event went.

We were 2hours on the map in total. And the event didn’t took place, we checked all 3 maps frequently. I have also checked for the event 3 times today and was never available.
Yeah okay the good point is you can actually do this even solo. The event should at least be more frequently.

I"m very much in favor of eliminating this particular mission/quest.
I really don’t think it adds to play; it’s too long a cycle, too powerful an effect, and too much of a distraction from the key purpose for WvW’s existence.
Suggestion: Better would be more quickly recycling short missions for buffs or allies. Think siegerazor crossed with mercenaries like the frogs or ogres in EB, but provide a way for the players to pick a target. (Defense could be a target mission).
