WvW Jumping Puzzle Courtesy - /wave
How about you go back to your pve land of friendship and courtesy?
How about you go back to your pve land of friendship and courtesy?
Lol :P

I don’t support this post at all. step in WvW, get ready to get punched in the face.
Well…that’s about what I expected.
Well…that’s about what I expected.
Yep
Many people are bummed that jumping puzzles count towards the meta achievement yet defence doesn’t.
Wvw is wvw. No quarter given!

WvW is a PvP mode. Once you step inside, get ready for fights. It’s not sunshine and rainbows here mate.

If someone cared about courtesy in the first place, they wouldn’t be ganking in the jp, so while I admire your effort OP, it’s not going to do anything.
Everytime the hordes of pve achievement hunters decide there is something worthwhile in the wvw jp’s, the same thing happens. People expect to get it for free, and others decide it’s fun to make them work for it. All threads like this accomplish is making the gankers laugh.
Full disclosure: I’m partial to jp ganking when this stuff happens, and was in a joke guild dedicated to eb jp ganking for a while. Fear the Obsidian Sanctum Task Force [OSTF]!
I’ll make sure I wave at you as your flying off the cliff
[url=https://] [/url]
I had a Guardian who waved at me and then knocked me back once I crossed the vine in BL JP. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust anyone but that’s me.
If I see you, I will attack you.
If you /wave at me, I will camp you.
There is no courtesy in war.
The only reason I ever fight in a Jump puzzle.. I am attacked or I see a realm mate fighting.. other wise leave me alone I leave you alone.

Since once again we have achievements that involve doing the WvW jumping puzzles, I would like to remind some people of a bit of common courtesy.
If someone /waves to you, it means they are not looking to fight. If you wave to them, it means you are not looking for a fight. Please try to respect that some people may just wish to get through the zone and get out.
I know people will say that this is a PvP zone, so they should expect a fight. I would just like to see fighting that doesn’t involve pushing off ledges, hiding behind corners, or general camping. If you feel like getting into some 1v1s or 2v2s, the very beginning of Obsidian Sanctum can be a great place for it.
If I see someone in a jumping puzzle and they don’t bother me, I won’t bother them. Outside in true WvW though, anything goes.
A VALIANT EFFORT, FRIEND!
Fortunately, this’ll never happen. If someone waves at me I like to wave back, it’s common courtesy! I’ll still kill them when I get the chance! n_n
The people who kill others in the JP absolutely LOVE these posts. Whenever I see a JP post I get all excited and my mouth becomes suddenly dry, ready to receive all the tears that I require to survive.
If someone likes to get their achievements that’s awesome, I hope they get and enjoy their Radiant skinned Guardians as they idle in LA with their Sunrise, but that shouldn’t stop the blood in a map that was clearly meant to be PvP oriented.
The traps that stop players from progressing through the puzzle aren’t just decorative, they function.
#sorrynotsorry
I ran one JP during last weeks matchup and did not see a soul until I opened the vault only to find an enemy warrior there. He was AFK at first and I hesitated but red is red so I attacked. He must have been making a sandwich as he came back in a hurry but I put him down. Then I felt a bit of remorse, what if the poor guy was not hungry but in the can and sprayed all over himself or caught things that should not be caught ikittenpper? So I did not stomp him. Not sure if he bled out or not.
OP, don’t worry, you are not alone. Just the other day while portaling our own BL’s JP, I stopped for a bit to help guide players of the other worlds. Decency and courtesy exists outside and inside the game. It’s just there’s a lot of special overcompensation types that make up this very vocal minority.
If they were as good as they boast, they’d go out on the map to fight those whom are ready and willing to fight back. Instead, they camp uplevel’s in the dark room. #smh
Good idea Azraelle, why not just kill all the PVE players, making them take longer to do jumping puzzles, making them stay in WvW longer.
I agree with Coldin, a simple wave, get the puzzle done, and those ‘PVE’ players can just go back to PVE or join your zerg. Don’t complain about PVE’s in WvW if you just kill them and not allow them to do what they came to do and get out quick.
I was able to do all four JPs for the meta so far, two of them with “enemies” in the puzzle (borderland ones). So far I have seen no one ganked there. I was in the Obsidian puzzle alone, in the early morning hours – I don’t trust anyone there.
As long as I see someone moving on the edge of the Faith/Arah/God’s camp towards the north, I let them go. Outside of that area, you are either fast – or prepare to fight. it is a battle zone after all.
I think we should not kill each other inside the puzzle. It should be a neutral de-militarized zone.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)

They’re so juicy though? ;-;
They haven’t mastered the art of running away like other “WvW Players.” This makes them all too delicious. Besides, the Obsidian Sanctum is a map of its own now, the PvEers in the JP aren’t taking up any queue spots so the amount of time they spend there doesn’t equal a handi-cap for the server, it equals more fun for moi!
Bon Appétit!

People are really sad if you think camping on a jp makes you a great player.

Does anyone else read this as ’I’m useless at killing real wvw players who are prepared for me, so to make myself feel better I attack pve geared players because then I can tell myself I’m a great player’….
the problem with EB JP is that if you get just one step ahead you can effectively prevent entire group of proceeding any further with just 1-2 ppl
i love pvp, but in such situation you don’t even get to fight back so i can hardly call it any pvp, more like griefing; most of the people i caught camping sucked in actual fights in the end
[Teef] guild :>
Sorry, but im hungry for small fights.
And the EB JP is a great place to do them. No inflated stacks that cheapens encounters, no random mobs for enemies to rally off, no walls to run behind, no siege to build.
/wave at me and I will fight you. Put up a fight and I will let you go.

Huh? So your idea of small fights is ganking guys that dont fight and letting guys that want to fight go past? Alrighty then

I don’t camp the JP, but I have to go there to do achievements so if I go there and you happen to be red and near me yeah then its a fight. I didn’t come to the JP to fight but I don’t trust anyone with a red tag.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!

It definitely depends on the player and the matchup. Jumping puzzles are a bore for me, but a group of Mag managed to run the borderlands puzzles with me to get the achievement out of the way last night. I’ve also tried to get a fellow server mate to leave a BG player alone in EB JP, but that guy refused to listen (and later got killed by a BG thief who left me alone – I admit I laughed). Sometimes it’s fun to camp out in there, but if it’s obvious a player isn’t wanting to fight, it’s such a bore to beat them down to me personally. All that said, it IS in WvW, so you have to expect the worst. :p
Your best bet if it’s the EB JP is to find a small man group (3-5 players max) to go with. Assuming there isn’t a large group camping out in there, you’ll get through the puzzle and have some nice small skirmishes along the way. The BL JPs are super easy so if getting camped is a problem, just come back later. Those tend to be empty anyway.
If an enemy waves at me,I’ll cut the hand off.
I usually ignore others unless they start the fight but you should not expect anyone to abide by your system.
Half-a-dozen of us were taking Arrah, standing around waiting for the buff on the Supervisor to expire, when along came this ranger with his red name tag.
Did he seriously think we would let him just stroll by on his way to the JP?
A cow finish and more points to our tally, Thank you very much!
While WvW makes any fight fair game, ANet continually pushing WvW players into jumping puzzles is highly annoying. My vote in this circumstance is to just let players be.
The only reason to be in the jumping puzzles is to do an event completion or be an kitten. Don’t be your servers kitten.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
imo, any area in wvw is a fight zone, thats what its made for. So always be ready to throw down. But it is common knowledge jp campers are just pvp wannabes. If they are as good as they think they are they would be on the field where it matters. Otherwise they stay in the jp to fight up levels or those not prepared only to make themselves feel better. Whatever blows their skirt up I suppose.
Nice to see a few people post positively.
Not saying people have to do this, since obviously I can’t make them. Just letting everyone know that /wave can be used to show you’re non-hostile.
Haven’t seen one of these threads in a while xD
On this one occasion I ran past an enemy in Obsidian Sanctum, as he obviously didn’t want to fight. A bit further on he attacked me with three others as they jumped onto me from above. Guess he was scouting or so. Lesson learned.
Though I think “camping” in a JP is quite poor, it’s still valid to do so. So just don’t trust nobody and do the puzzle with 2-3 others.
To be honest, I never land the first hit. When I go to WvW JP, I want to complete the task and go away. Many people don’t attack you unless you start hiting them, but I have also met few people that wait for rest of their group to outnumber you. It’s also fair to say that last time I did EB puzzle, group of 5-6 enemies run through me and didn’t attack, that was really surprising and good for me, as I was almost at the end :P
I dont go into the JP myself, but to the people who go there to absolutely wreck pve players i say: Good! And i dont discriminate between our server ganking or getting ganked.
You see, i want these achievements in general to be as much of a nightmare as possible to these PvE players.
“But theyll just stay around longer!” I know, i know. I’m thinking long-term here. These achievements are comming back next season.
And i want these PvE players to gaze upon their disproporionally, and disapointingly, small WvW season reward. And i want them to think back to what a pain and hassle it was to get it and then not bother next season.
Hopefully thatll get rid of a bunch of the queue, aswell as slashing heavily in the population of siege-hogging, Dolyak rushing, Rally-feeding, PvE heroes that are not a positive force in WvW at all.
Those who do care about WvW, and got to enjoy their WvW will stay and do so not because of a bunch of achievementpoints. And those are the people we want.
If someone is giving you a hard time, wait until a friendly arrives and go in with backup. In my experience, 95% of the time someone who /waves back at you is honorable and won’t attack.
If you /wave back and then proceed to attack someone, you sir, have no honor.
To those of you who actually pick fights in the JP, what is your problem? Do you honestly find the JP a fun place to fight? The water is only a short jump away so while preventing someone from completing the JP is a distinct possibility, actually killing them is difficult. Do you think trolling the JP justifies your taking up valuable space in the BL? It doesn’t. Go do something productive and help your side take or defend an objective.

Thats debatable, If 1 guys is denying a group from completing the JP then hes doing a good job. If he is keeping 2 or more people in the JP then he is keeping those people from fighting for there server. Just because its not the most productive thing he can be doing, doesn’t mean its not productive.
Also posts like these are what keeps people doing it…if there is no reaction, trolls get bored. Your just enabling them, if there goal is to troll, its working…

If you see a player with [JUMP] tag don’t wave him. Because he will keep you in down until you give up. If he thinks you are an aggressive wvw player than you can see his finisher lol. Kill or die at WvW area, it’s simple. Lots of JP’s at pve for peaceful players.

Like people are afraid of low skilled players that camp in a jp. Dream on boy =)

fighting is fine…but let’s be honest majority of campers in JPs don’t fight; they just literary grief you with knockbacks and CCs from above so you can’t jump up nor fight back; most annoying spots like this:
platforms inside well
the infamous lamp room
the sad part, as i stated before, when i actually got to catch those campers, they did suck in actual fight heh
i can just laugh at the poster above me

I thought we learned this type of thing on the playgrounds in elementary school – you don’t enter a game and ask everyone to change the rules to suit your tastes. You just play, or don’t.

I used to camp the jp’s but it got old pretty fast.
Maybe I’ll come back and see if I can find some PvErs farmers. I’ll make sure to be wearing my Dungeon Master title.
i like to wave then when they dont suspect anything use a knockback to push them over the edge and kill them.
So you all are basically so bad at PvP that you need to camp in half empty jp for hours, just for opportunity to backstab/knockback some unfortunate soul? I understand it’s PvP zone and if I meet someone along the way, I probably gonna try to knock them over, but camping seems pretty pathetic waste of time, at least in my eyes.
“Lots of JP’s at pve for peaceful players.”
Yea, but they put like 1/3 of living story achievements in WvW JP’s so many people are kinda forced into them.
It seems this isn’t a popular opinion, but I agree with the OP.
I agree on a wider point in wvw though, that all players should respect somebody wandering solo who does nothing to you. I’m a regular wvw player myself and have often passed by enemies who are clearly afk and just let them be. That’s not what world versus world is supposed to be about, griefing people for having the ‘audacity’ to need to go afk briefly. In jumping puzzles I’ve often worked with ‘enemies’, because I have no grudge against them and killing them serves no purpose.
I’m pretty shocked by the responses to this idea aswell, that somehow wvw is the land of tough heroes and pve players are just whimps. Quit with the superiority complexes. World versus world is supposed to be about servers clashing in war to win. Sure there’s stealth tactics in that, like ambushing and scouts, but mugging people who pose no threat to you achieves nothing for your server’s effort.
World versus world is about your world winning by gaining the most points – individuals ambushing in the jumping puzzles like to pretend that they’re helping their server but they do nothing for the cause at all and is a sad indictment of the kind of lack of community spirit and morals that pervades many servers.
Its about time there was little more chivalry.

If that person dares to solo in areas controlled by my server I will do my best to kill them. Either they’re scouting/capping as an experienced WvW player, or they are wasting their time trying to get to vistas or POIs in our towers/keeps as a PvE player. If I am the one doing the scouting/capping solo in enemy territory, I will attack if attacked. /wave will just alert others to my presence.
As for afk players, if they can’t take a WP to spawn, or run into a friendly tower/keep, before afk-ing, too bad.
