WvW Jumping Puzzle
the jumping puzzles on the borders are a matter for 10 minutes max if you’re not getting bothered by other players.
I barely get siege golems there, mostly its catas, trebs and flame rams and 3-5 badges.
Which is fine imo, especially if you’re someone that provides sieges for a successful attack and as a commander you might consider being someone like that. Saves you a lot of money for pretty much small effort.

You can do all 4 jumping puzzles once:
-24 hours after you looted the chest
-Per character
-Also immediately after a new build for the game is patched
I got like 100 rams, balistas, trebs and arrow carts along with 20 golems just from doing the jumping puzzles. Exceeded 1000 badges of honor.
It adds up very quickly. Though the time spent to get them is equal to the reward.

I’d really like to have a visible cooldown timer somewhere in the user interface. Happened more than once that I would go to a puzzle only to find out I completed it 22 or so hours ago, and have to wait. In general I also think 24 hour cooldowns are just annoying, eventually you get to a point after doing them every time that it pushes the respawn time out of normal hours. Cutting chest cooldowns to 22 hours would solve that.
They are fine in terms of rewards, I do wish the borderlands puzzles were a little bit…. dynamic. Maybe every server restart, some rocks should change location, ect. Since you need to do this puzzle 3 times, some variation wouldn’t hurt.

I think the real problem is that they made getting badges of honor required for legendaries, seeing I hate pvp I just run the jumping puzzle nacked to get the badges without having to fight anyone, and I know I’m taking up slots of people that actually want to help and contribute but I’m just making the most of the system Anet set up… if I didn’t need the badges I wouldn’t be there.

In the borderlands puzzles it isn’t so bad. But it gets really irritating when you reach the top of the EB jumping puzzle to only find an open chest. The real kicker is. Even if you get there after looting the chest 24 hours ago, if you arrived on the map a minute before the chest reset – it remains open. Meaning you have to rejoin the map and do the puzzle all over again.
A recent patch made all borderlands share puzzle rewards as far as I could tell. You can do 1 borderland and the EB and that’s it per day.
Even though Blueprints are soulbound, it is possible to give them to any other player of your server.
Just move outside of the spawn area, double click on the blueprint so it appears on your action bar, press button 1 to lay the siege weapon down then any other player can pick it up.
If guys that dont like PVP but are doing puzzles for the badges, donated their Blueprints to the WvW guilds on their server in this way then they would be helping the cause and be thought of a bit better maybe.

Only do the jumping puzzle when there is no queue. That way you’re not taking up a spot for somebody who wants to fight.

porting all of your characters up to EB JP is a quick way to get seige, like someone above said you can give the siege to other players in person just not via mail.

No thanks. The puzzle takes up no time if you do it a lot so the “taking slots” argument is pretty weak. What it really is, and what it’s likely designed to be is a area for smaller scale PvP. I have a blast PvPing every time I do the puzzle. You can tell it’s part of the design by all the built in player activated traps and rocks to pick up at the EB one.

Agree with the last part though, shouldn’t have to do PvP for legendaries, monthly achievements or 100% world completion, don’t want to be in WvW any more than the WvWers want me there. :p

WvW jumping puzzles aren’t PvE but smaller scale PvP objectives with a reward in the end to have an incentive to partake in it. There’s people that like small scale PvP / camping / ganking in an open’ish environment instead of just being able to do short sPvP matches. I’ve had some incredibly fun battles in some of them.

What im trying to say is i think the rewards should be diminished if you read in the prior posting someone has 1000 badges and a bunch of siege. What i have noticed is people the do the jumping puzzle dont use the siege in WvW they just want the badges. It’s so annoying for a commander to try to get together a force and in the middle of typing out the strategy someone puts: “Free port up to the jumping puzzle come quick its easy and it free badges” then about 10-20 people just leave and go to the jumping puzzle. It’s fine that there is a jumping puzzle but make it drop badges less often and drop less siege and more weapons.

There’s a problem but it’s not the jumping puzzle. It’s how darn hard it is to get badges. Make them drop with some regularity from sentrys/camps/towers/keeps and people won’t have to farm the darn puzzles to get a decent supply of badges.l

I do the jump puzzle but am 100% in WvW otherwise. If I’m near a zerg that needs rams I drop them. If we are being dominated and want to hold a single camp I fill it with Ballista & Carts.
Jump puzzle is small scale PvP for people like me who enjoy it as well as siege for PvPers who are poor. The badges are the reward for being king of the hill.
But when you are planning to siege Stone Mist Castle and 10-20 people leave for the jumping puzzle it doesn’t help. Im just saying the reward drop should be less.

But I planned to win this week’s WvW but everyone on my server did the holloween thing… It’s just an alternative that players can choose. It doesn’t take very long unless it’s your first couple times.

No It’s not the case. I can confirm the day before yesterday I did it in all 3 borders. Didn’t get the time to do it yesterday. I encounter that case only in one night which is several days back. They are considered different maps so there is no way jump puzzle are treated differently.
The only real issue is that it impacts on the actual wvw zones. They should have their own queue/player limit that is totally separate from the borderlands or eternal.

Yea it happened right after the patch that fixed the vault door. They must have fixed it.
Five badges and two blueprints is not to much of a reward. It allows guild members to contribute to their guilds efforts in WvW by donating all of their blueprints, without spending 5-10 gold on siege weekly.
I pulled a treb and a ballista last night and turned it over to one of our guild commanders, saved a quick 30s and contributed for next weeks match.
It’s fine as is.
The jumping puzzles are fine. Provide PvP and a bit of reward which can be used for more PvP.
If people would rather do them then follow you, perhaps the issue is not the puzzles.
The only problem in my opinion is that the chest timer should be account based, not character based.

Given that all sides have people in there and that they do not take long to do, they do not impact wvw at all.
Like the orbs the puzzles need to be trashed.

Coud you explain how this works? When I put the siege down it starts building, how does someone else pick it up again?
