I think it still needs to be fixed.. how can tier 8 bronze league servers be medium population on WvW players while tier 5 silver league servers are also medium population in WvW players..?
obviously rank 13 Dark Haven and rank 14 Dragonbrand have more WvW players than rank 23 Devonas Rest and rank 24 Erredon Terrace
on lowest rank servers 23 and 24.. sometimes there is only 5 WvW players in all maps for like 10 hours or more… i doubt this happens on rank 13th and 14th
why ranked 13 – 24 servers medium population in WvW players ?

Same problem in Europe. they labeled completely empty servers like Underworld as “medium”.
At this point I think they didn’t measure anything and are just pretending they looked at it.
The scale probably doesn’t go lower than medium. As a face saving measure so it doesn’t appear that servers are essentially empty for significant portions of time.
Look, the big suits don’t want to see that 4-6 of their servers have low population. That is a great way to get yourself fired. Sure, an individual dev didn’t screw it up the big wigs themselves have the final call.
The upper management screwed things up and they are ponying it off on some poor underpaid schmuck who is just trying to stay afloat and off anyone’s radar so his life isn’t made anymore miserable by some Beavis. So he made the lowest tier medium and can show them some algorithm they won’t understand that gives them the answer the Beavis’ want and keep the poor dev’s head off the chopping block.
Well at least you can cheaply transfer off to another “medium” server. Which I know is terrible, killing WvW communities and such. But I agree with you, I thought it was bullpoopy to put those servers as “medium”.
My guess, would be that they changed the population to reflect people that have entered WvW within “X” amount of time. The problem with that still, is that people come in….do dailies….or something else. Then leave. It does not give you an accurate view of people actively participating in WvW. It should be something like people who have spent “X” amount of time in WvW should be counted. Yes this might include SOME people that are not truly participating but I would venture to guess it would be a much smaller pool than currently. That being said at least they addressed it somewhat!
Yep, it’s merely a euphemism anyways. Of course with the new system in place for only in a few days I wonder if it wasn’t able to differentiate between “few” and “almost no one”. Doubtful. I’m guessing they didn’t want to lower prices that much. :S
But who cares. It’s just a word, and relatively speaking the low servers are still the cheapest to transfer to. The immediate effect is they’re only 500 gems to go to now.

Yeah we can blame serveral servers here like Miller’s for refusing to play like real WvWers and getting rid of any serious WvWer within one month. This server would be full with all those people who come and go.

Yes we have some people that run custom and not perfect builds, but this a) doesn’t apply to whole server, b) last time I checked people can run what they want, c) we play wvw to have fun and gvgs (or blobs vs blobs) to be competitive and d) you transfered off the server a few months ago, which I respect but please stop sprouting kitten about millers.
Go stack on one of the goldservers (you’re on piken aren’t you?) and enjoy your skillful staff #1 guard gameplay in 80vs80.

Yeah so I know what I’m talking about. The lower tier servers have problems which can’t be fixed by this ridiculous restriction. In the end there is no choice how you like to play WvW and just transfer to the server which fits best to your playstyle. Everything gets just mixed up and locked in place. The hardcore gamers will blame the casual for playing like they are braindead and the casual gamers will blame the hardcore players for killing their fun.
BTW I have left Piken because of all those bandwagongers who wanted to do exactly the one thing you described and now I’m looking for a new server…without bandwagoners or a kittenload of handholding casuals. I Guess I have to wait for a new RvR game.

Last time I checked you could just ignore the publics and do your own thing and/or create a guild with likeminded people. No one would care if you just fight/gvg/etc every evening.
We (and other low tier server too) have a bunch of hardcore players, a lot of the guilds here run meta builds.
Of course you can move up but from my experience skilllevel does not drastically improve, but coverage. We also know that place 1 = most skill – so better transfer to SFR. I also don’t think that any server in gold is the sacred server with just hardcore people that only run metabuilds (I do also believe that the percentage of hardcore/casual is pretty similar on most server).
Would be better to find a solution instead of transfering away all the time.
