Doesn’t WvW have anything to balance outnumbering? I really hate to see that people can win simply by outnumbering. Just fought of one of the enemy servers at a tower in their borderlands. Was 14 of us defending and 25-30 of them attacking. Now these people only knew 1 way of assult: Frontal gate attack. So they rushed their golems in without any thought about wrecking our seige or try to get our people of the walls so we drop them pretty fast and got a few of the players down in the process. After their golem where destroyed and their numbers dropped by 5-6 the others where completely lost and had no idea what to do. So my server quickly wiped em’ all. Now that was pretty fun right, 14 people pwning up to 30 guys. Now I don’t mind that kind of outnumbering, it can be fun, challenging and it’s doable. But 5 minutes later they show up with reinforcements and I’m seriously not exaggerating, they brought 100+ people. That’s not fun. I’d like to see 14 people take out 100 guys. We didn’t even have a chance to put up a good fight, they just dropped 1 AoE each on the wall and anyone cought in it dropped in a second. Isn’t their any kind of ‘cap’ in borderlands? I know borderlands can be full and junk but shouldn’t there be a limit of how many players you can outnumber your enemies with? Or atleast make the Out-Manned buff useful to those who are outnumbered. I think it would be cool to give the outmanned buff the old Orb buff, and have 3 diffrent stages depending on how many the enemies are. Or as I said above, a cap to not be able to outnumber by more than 30-40 people.

Capping the number of players is never going to be a working solution. It just doesn’t make sense to deprive a server with a different peak population from the ability to get into WvW just because another server couldn’t gather enough people into WvW.

Now, making “Outmanned” or something else have more impact, or providing some other method of helping out under staffed servers might be an option if someone can come up with a good method for doing that and it’s the direction Anet wants to move in. But limiting the server with a high population isn’t the right answer here.

Like Syeria said population capping is NOT a viable solution. Giving you a buff for being outnumbered would be nice, but you have to be careful with that too. Too large of a buff is bad and if the buff applies across the whole borderlands the buff could be abused in smaller scale fight situations like your group of 5 say having the buff, and you happen to run into another group of 5 or so. If equal skill across all players then the buffed group should win.

If you could some how allow it to effect a smaller area temporarily, constantly pulling the population in the immediate area, that would be something new and great I haven’t seen. It would allow for the area that needs to be effected to be effected without unbalancing different fights in the region.

Some will tell you it’s WvW numbers aren’t suppose to be fair. Which has some truth and is completely dependent upon ones view of PvP and what it should and shouldn’t be. If your feeling frustrated about being beat, because they have more numbers. Just remember that you could beat them with less when they had more. Your players are of a higher quality and more skillful. Had you had even numbers you would win. Look at it this way. They had to bring that many people to take your tower from 14 of you.

Just think about what kind of players you and the others are. Who cares if they beat you with more numbers? It’s about how YOU view that situation. You can’t always control the situation, but you can always control how you view it and what you take away from it.

Culling isn’t the issue. The people usually load eventually.

It’s just a simple fact that 20 people don’t stand a chance against 50 players (times 2) roaming around the map. 9 out of 10 times they can’t even get out of their spawn or have any hope of capturing something bigger than a supply camp.
