Still reading what is being proposed in this bag of tricks or treats.

I’m not too happy about the “Reduce the impact of night capping”.


How’s this for a hilarious but extremely simple solution:

1) Give Certain Players/Guilds the ability to shut down their World Server at the end of day when they’re done playing for the day. The next day…this same group is responsible for power up of their World Server.

or

2) Automate World Server Open & Close Hours


Isn’t this game supposed to be 24/7?

Please don’t use mechanics that affect Low-Peak scoring by reducing it in relation to High-Peak periods.

If you’re going to do that…you might as well close down the World Servers like in the above solutions…without having to come up with complex solutions that could have ripple effects in other areas you haven’t thought about.

p.s.

Some of the other things listed…I get a clue on what you’re planning to do…and they’re pretty good ideas.

Need to be very careful though on how you implement things.

I would like to see some scoring adjustments as follows without nerfing the current objective rewards, just give other ways a considerable boost so that the total average becomes more balanced instead of being so PPT lopsided.

1. Make PPK worth more so that fighting guilds, roamers, gankers etc. can have a bigger impact on the total score, currently the whole paradigm is still extremely shifted towards PPT (score points being awarded for unattended, undefended objectives, thus awarded for inactive, rather then active gameplay).

2. Make PPC and PPD (the initial capture and defense points) worth a bit more. This would go towards promoting a more active rather then inactive gameplay, and would do so evenly across all servers and timezones.

3. Add to points total from earning reward tracks. I noticed that reward tracks themselves come very quickly during a combination of player kills and objective captures/defenses and come slow during slow times, or when focused on only single playstyle, such as player fighting only, or k-training. Because of difference in the pacing, adding to total score from reward tracks would automatically be “self-balanced” and nice to have.

4. Provide score point bonusses based on “outmanned” buff, perhaps impliment a “local outmanned” buff etc. for scoring purposses. This would go a very long ways to help with population imbalanced matches.

Well unless they make 3 sided eotm style megaservers with timed matches then we will get what we get for scoring under these coverage issues.

You don’t like the off peak hours scoring changes, but you want to give players the ability to shut down wvw or have the devs automate a forced on/off? Like huh?

1. Let’s not forget this is a war game – the objectives are… the objective. No pun intended. If you want kills to count more, play PvP. If you want to play a game based on strategy, where scouting, defending, and sieging objectives is how you win, play WvW. As for “inactive gameplay” rewards, I think something could be done to lessen the effect of ppt during severely low WvW population times (based strictly on map population, not time of day).

2. Agreed. But careful about rewarding defensive points, cause that could mean anytime swords come up on an objective, the end result is points for the defending team (even if there was no fight/conflict).

3. Am I understanding you correctly? You want rewards tracks to somehow add to war score? I don’t really understand how this concept would work.

You should do something to divide the blob as much as possible without penalize it. you simply have to add more stuff to do for them so they will have to split. Here some ideas that could help the WvW experience and divide the Zerg

Add PVE element
Boss like the sandstorm giant… that give something ( reward track bonus for 15 minute for the server, or some point but wait, don’t give it right away. Let’s say you kill a boss it drop something on the ground and you need to click it and run back to your home starting point ( No tp allowed) and Why Giant, because there is not enough in the game and they are nice to fight and can destroy a zombie blob.

More event that need people to run back to get bonus more you divide the blob.

Dynamite at border spawn point
The dynamite can be brought if (add requirement of your choice). The dynamite can explode a wall one shot, 2 shot if fully upgrade maybe… You cannot use any skill while transporting it. If you are kill with it, it explode and do enough damage to kill any ally and only ally. (no good with a lot of people to protect it) So it help to take stuff near your border spawn point but it’s really hard to go in enemy territory with it.

Return of the orb
The orb was a great idea but not how it was working, but now with the reward track it could really work. The orb should despawn every hours and give a reward track bonus for each keep that have it. People will want to defend more. When you have the orb you are like a beacon in the map. A big source of light so enemy can see you miles aways.

Be the Dolyak
You can take some upgrading supply at a camp and go to a tower, keep or castle with it. While transporting you cannot run or attack. it’s too heavy.

Add some bounty like the guild mission.
Call them traitor or spy. When you capture a traitor, he give some wvw token or he can be use to sabotage there respective keep or tower…

Escort
You can escort a npc to a tower or keep and that npc will help to defend with the keeper. Maybe it can help night capping.

The 3 heads boss
Like the wurm, you need to kill the boss in the same time but there is a head in every Keep. It only spwan in the keep and when you have the 3 keep.

The hidden Dungeon
When you have the 3 keep you have acces to a hidden small dungeon. That dungeon there is a sleeping wywern and you can kill it for loot and chest it you kill it under 20 minutes. If the map is EB it give you a secret acces under the castle so you can invade the castle from inside.

Blasting Arrow cart or arrow
that is specially designed to kill faster blob. It slow every enemy without cap and every time it touch someone it make a blast small aoe.
Ice arrow cart or arrow slow peoples and give chill on explosion. Maybe it could only be acquired with wvw mastery.

Dont’ die!
For each 15 minute you are alive you get 2% more HP and Toughness up to 10%.

Help low pop and imbalanced realm
Buff HP and toughness for realms behind in scoring by 25 000 point.it give the opportunity to the losing realm to get better at playing Wvw to and get back in the game.

Why not buffing DPS? because nobody like to be one shot by a buffed realm… It’s not fun…

Daily reward and weekly reward for participation.

All those thing could give new aspect to the WvW, creating more small skirmish fight, ganking some people trying to kill a giant or escorting, so helping to get a healthy WVW and solve some problem in the imbalance by dividing the zerg and giving the losing team a chance to come back in the game.

Kindly go back to Dragonstand or Silverwastes… These are terrible ideas.

We don’t need more AI to fight. We need more players to fight. Those players need to be incentivised not by PvE loot, but by refining the current reward track system. The fights need to be intense and without gimmicks ruining it.

Hi personally I think for scoring the game mode needs a “Blue Shell” mechanic, because it feels to me whenever I open the WvW window and see a massively unbalanced pie chart I feel I won’t have any effect on the mode.
I suggest Blue shell mechanics opening at exactly the peak game times for maybe 3 hours a day, helping fight night time score problems and giving people a rally time to play WvW. “Lets go WvW at 5pm for the Orb mechanic then raid after the 7pm cut off.”

I’d bet the vast majority of players actually.

Its great to say, “For the fights!”. But honestly there’s got to be some reason to fight to keep it interesting. Without a reason to do something human beings become bored. Even enjoyable things get old without purpose. We need a purpose; and a score and winning provide a purpose.

Uh oh. Hard to answer that poll.

(1) Cross-map chat channel.

(2) Scoring balanced with respect to how many people play in teams at particular moments.

Btw, for outnumbered teams, night capping may be the only hope to get more points. Reducing points at night just kills every hope. They don’t get enough points at day/evening, and they would get reduced points at night.

When team is 90% of time outnumbered, score balancing does not help. When team owns nothing most of the day, they don’t get points at all. Metaserver for wvw would help.

The devs already preframed us on being able to change linking and such to balance things.

This is the live testing environment to sort out as much of the population and scoring issues as possible so we need keep that in mind.

All of this is being worked on so they can bring us fair and balanced tournaments, so let’s give them time to figure things out.

DEVS ARE WORKING ON WRONG THINGS!!

Here are issues that should be fixed:

(1) Power-creep in WvW. Reduce damage of high power skills, or give toughness a meaning. Too often my char is down so quickly – e.g, 2x Vault is 15k. My chars goes down fast even with cavalier ascended trinkets. I like longer fights.

(2) Difficulty levels in WvW. Do understand that not every player cannot be and not want be the best player in WvW. Even when run in zerg or small group, the combat ends up 1v1 with skilled player. Roamers are typically more skilled players; e.g., makes no sense to escort dollies because only our high skilled players can do that. And then there are spawn-campers…

(3) Give full protection to char who uses AC, cannon, mortar; as long as siege is not destroyed. Specially cannon user is dead in a second which is reason I don’t use cannons.

I think that scoring is important but if no one shows up because the system lacks QoL then whats the point of fixing the scoring. I don’t know why we are being forced to choose a side when both are fully needed along with more. Unless the timeline for each proposed project is relatively short, I firmly believe that both of the projects should be worked on simultaneously for the most benefit.

1. The issue is that k-training is out of whack off the scale in terms of total points awarded, it is extremely unbalanced. I did not say I want objectives and strategic gameplay removed, I like it myself, I just said that things need to be more balanced between fights / kills generated PPT and objective generated PPT, so that fight oriented players and groups can contribute more and you get most PPT (or total score) from capturing / defending objectives in fights, rather then pure PVE gameplay as it is currently. Like you brought up the SPVP argument, I can argue that you have all of tyria+HOT maps+ dungeons+fractals+raids to go PVE, why bring it to WVW ?

2. Game has ways of telling how large in general encounter is, and if structures are actually damaged, therefore those mechanics could be tied in with total defense points awarded. Or something like that.

3. I brought up reward tracks because in general they are tied to player activity. The more active you are, the more players you kill, objectives you take / defend, etc. The faster you complete them. Also, it is indiscriminate, it affects players across all populations, timezones, playstyles equally, thus I think it would be great to earn PPT from reward track completion. Because no matter how you contribute to your servers performance, or when you contribute to it, as long as you contribute that contribution would be counted.

4. Yes, the outmanned buff should give a slight boost, but it would be nice to see the outmanned system in general expanded, so that for example a “local” outmanned gives a bigger boost, etc. This is would in general better reflect challenge levels, as lets face it, its tough to win against an overwhelming force in any scenario. Currently the game has no such systems in place, it would be nice if it did.

Will any change to “night” scoring unintentionally harm wvw during these hours? Any change to their participation will cause some percentage of players to not go into wvw at all, which will then impact the proposed threshold for night participation getting upgraded to the full day point per tick.

That’s the thing about the scoring, it should be done in a way that has nothing to do with time of day but rather more towards population at any given time.

I agree.

WvW organizes “asymmetric confrontation”…but actually does not manage enough that asymmetry. what we call “night-capping” is only a symptom of that general situation.

So one of the challenge about scoring is to make interesting asymetric warfare in term of … scoring (regardless day or night).

The scoring system is totally dysfunctional at present.

Most players know the result of each matchup the moment it is announced; many don’t even look at the score because its so predictable.

All that matters is how many people you have online outside of normal gaming hours, fighting doors in the early hours of the morning and during office hours. Nothing that happens at peak time matters, and if you can’t play out of hours, you might as well not bother playing the game mode (or just ignore the scoreboard, like most ppl that still play).

I’d say this is a slightly bigger issue than QoL tweaks….

Why would you vote yes? JUST TO BE CLEAR. What i see is yes make it permanent its good doesn’t need anymore tweaking. I put NO because there still needs improvement! Players shouldn’t HAVE to join squads to get partial participation thing. They should be able to be solo or with one other friend and siege a tower well and sit their and scout it for hours and still get rewarded. Building Siege and staying at a tower protecting it Does nothing for participation from what i can tell other than repairing and killing people that come but for towers like Aldons its not often or ever. I Hope im not confsing please correct me if needed. Also The tracks should be more WvW, yes there is a triumphant one but it give you like only 3 pieces of siege through the WHOLE thing.
TL;DR Needs improvement still So i voted no because no meant remove or in my case, needs improvement and yes meant its good no more tweaking, imo.

No, the WvW rewards are ABSOLUTELY NOT OK.. any of those current like 72% who have voted for yes must have misunderstood either the question totalyl or are absolutely blind, or just want no changes in fear, that it could become too rewarding and somethign that had value maybe becomes lesser valuable or for whatever else for not understandable reasons…

1. ) WvW has not really alot of unique rewards aside from the lately added 2 armor skins from which one is just a slightly different looking “upgrade” of the first one
Everythign else is just 100% the same as of PvP reward tracks!

2) The Reward Tracks from WvW aren’t equalized with those of PvP in regard ofprogression, because Anet just seems to simply have forgotten, that there are alots of buufs and boosters for PvP reward Tracks, which should all work for WvW reard Tracks too!!

3) The WvW Rank System is absoliutely unrewardign since the beginning of its very existance and the game mode offers absolutely not enough character progression at all to give us somethign to do with all the hundreds of collected rank points to spent on, because just only like 14xx rank points are needed to max out everything from 10000 ones possible to gain, which no sane person that isn#tz an absolute wvW fanatic will ever reach at all, because gainign ranks for that kind of max rank is also way too slow and there exist not enough way to speed up the WvW Exp gain, because most ways to speed it up, has anet wtf ever REMOVED out of the game >.<

4. ) If you get a rank chest, the loot is 99% of all times total crap as usual, the typical stupd blue and green garbage, that no one in WvW needs, because in the time that it takes to gain a wvw rank, in that time can you farm inPvE a GAZILLION of blue and green items and a heck ton times more GOLD, than the laughable 25 silver that we get

5.) The wvw currencies (badges of honor, proofs ect.) should become the only currencies needed to buy things in WvW, no Gold should be involved as long the gold rewards in WvW don’t get drastically improved.

Solutions have we suggested over the years more than enough.
WvW Rewards and Character Progression should be overworked together, because these alot of unused potential there to make WvW alot more fun and rewarding while givign the player at the same time a much better feeling of character progression while rising in the ranks and learning more gameplay facettes for WvW relevant to have the options to play with each class in WvW different tactical class specific ROLES that require WvW Masteries to be learned (unlocked through WvW Rank Points)

WvW woudl be alot more rewarding, if the following steps would be done:

1st: Rework the WvW Rank System completely and reduced it from Max 10000 Ranks to a Max of 2500 Ranks, rename rank tiers as you see fit (maybe givce them some more flavorful names this time that aren’t repeating thenmself x times, thats not original and innovative)

2nd: After the Rank System rework, everyone gets reset to Rank 1, people receive tretoactively based on their Ranks they had prior to the System rework Boost Items thta help them to retroactively receive under the new system to get rewards they would have gotten, if the improved system would have been there from begin on.

3rd: Increase the Money Reward from 25 Silver per Rank up to 2 Gold per Rank, so retroactively 1,75 Gold per Rank. However, this Gold has a twist, its Gold that can’t be used in the TP, this “WvW-Gold” is a temporary one time currency, which can be used only on things that you can buy from any NPC in the Game, so that the gold that is given to players, sinks also directly again way out of the game through gold sinks, without that it moves via TP between players. Buy with it maybe some expensive gold items that you ever wanted to buy, but had not until this point the gld to spent it for these things, stuff like weapon skins, crafting basic materials ect. pp., more valuable salvage tools en mass and so on, people wil lfind ways to make usage of that nice retroactive gold gift that can be spent only on NPC stuff

4th: completely overwork the rank reward chests, remove the blue/green garbage that you get fro mthem and replace these thigns with USEFUL REWARDS that help decreasign the GRIND OF THIS GAME.

  • Lodestones (especially charged ones, reduce their value and make oters theire more valuable, like mordrem lodestoens which are essentailly worthless compared to them, like tbhe crystal lodestones, those pink colored ones, are also not very valuable compared to them, too much stuff uses charged lodestones, while other lodestones get too much ignored..would do good, if charged lodestoens would get cheape, or some craftign recipes would get reworked to require LESSER of them, like reducing the requirements by 50%, because none of those items should have gold values that surpass easily those of precursors
  • T4-T6 Material Bags of CHOICE ,no RNG garbage, its enough with this permanent asia grinder rng mentality in this game, let us choose finally more with what we want to get rewarded personally, because then it actually feels also like a reward when we could decide what we get from possible options
  • add for example every 50 or 100 ranks 1 GUARANTEED ascended chest with equipment of CHOICE, so that by the end of when a player reaches the half way of the WvW character progression, the player should have made enough of these rewards to be able to at least equip 1 character in a complete ascended items set, what would be by these numbers Rank 1200 when taking every 100 ranks as reward trigger, what would be nearly the half of 2500 then minus 50 ranks leeway which should be imo the first 50 basically free rank points of WvW introduction which dont come with gold rewards, but are alot easier to gain, so that players get at the start a little easier some rank points for character progression.
  • add bags that can reward you with T7 ascended craftign materials (no, not stupid million tons of bloodstone dust, or empyreal shard ect. I mean ELONIAN LEATHER, DAMASK ect. The game needs another source of income of these materials, other than just “only” through crafting and monthly daily login reward chests.
    WvW should be another steady income of these materials to help reducign the grind for these materias and to normalize their prices, because the prices for these thigns skyrocketed the moment when you added raids and changed the worth of a ton of various items, as like normal materials becoming more valuable, with that naturally these items became a ton times more costy for every single little materials in the craftign progres that become significantly more valuable in the process chain of makign these items … its ther typical bad chain reaction of everythign becomes a ton times more valuable, so more items in the process chain of crafting are needed to make a product that you want in the end.

5th change the reward chest stuff from WvW reward tracks to be also of more useful stuff, less blue and green junk, more helpful materials that help reducing the material collecting grind of this game.
Remove craftign stations ouf of WvW!! To many people afking for these thigns, when they rather should hekp their side in winning!! Crafting should be only doable PvE, because thats essentially the only game mode, where this gameplay mechanic makes sense, because in PvP everyone has already max stuff and needs not to craft, and in WvW should provide the reward system EVERYTHING for the plaer, so that the player never needs to craft anythign in WvW at all ….

Add also please finally useful Quality of life features, like Auto Sell, Auto Salvage and Auto Account Chest Move when possible. You gave this game Auto Looting, then I think it should be possible also for you to add gamewide these other automatics to make the game in general more fun when its optional features naturalyl that everyone for themself can decide in the options menu if they want to use these features or not, unlike the Auto Looting, which isn’t deactivatable, once learned as mastery
Howev,er thats a different topic, just wanted to mention it, cause I feel the urge for it to keep these things in your mind whereever there is a chance to get dev attention

Should have in-game polls or surveys like blade and soul did during the levelling phase. Give a small but significant reward for completing the survey with a ‘further comments’ section at the end.

I hope they are at least a little concerned over how close this poll ended up being. There are a lot of issues on both sides that need fixes and maybe we are not best ones determine where devs priorities should be without a lot more details on the long range vision. ANET might also want to do a better job on wording for future polls. At this point it feels like they are being general enough that almost anything they were already working on could qualify as an answer to either option. Obviously more of a PR move to make the community feel involved but probably doesn’t actually really fix much in the end. People here seem to appreciate it tho so kudos.

they said in the exact same post they plan to add more to the reward tracks

We definitely plan to add more reward tracks in the future.

Also since I still see some confusion, WvW reward track potions will be added to dailies once the feature exits beta.

they want to get it out of beta it looks so it is permanent feature.. lets say for some reason they decide to end the beta at the end of this month. if no wins say goodbye to the reward tracks.

who cares if its blues, greens and a few yellows. that’s all i get when i pve anyway.. i got a few ascended pieces already and that is more than i got from wvw in the past year.

also no on resetting ranks.. rank to me = time invested in this game mode.. they touch my rank i would probably leave

I’m very glad that reward tracks were added to WvW – I think that’s a great step in the right direction. However, I would like to see these tracks worked on a bit more to have a bit better rewards. The one thing that stands out to me is the ability to obtain a WvW-specific legendary backpiece. I don’t feel it’s right that it can be obtained through sPvP and PvE but not WvW.

You don’t think it’s the fact you get lots of weapon skins and barely any armour skins bc the armour skin is at the end only? That’s pretty stupid if you ask me

I thought the reward tracks were permanent? If any changes need to be changed about it is boosters work with the track exp and add vials of wvw reward track exp to wvw dailies. Also more wvw specific reward tracks be added.

That’s the same as the ones in spvp so no problem there.
