1. Build saver. Currently it is a pain to change even one trait, which I do often when traveling to get a better swiftness boon on my thief. A hotkey for choosing a build would be a great quality of life improvement.

2. Overall game improvement: the UI should not interfere with mouse position for ranged attacks. Ever been on an arrow cart and want to hit that spot right in the upper right corner of the screen? Sorry, the UI is there and forces the target reticle on your own position.

It is even more frustrating when trying to use a skill such as thief’s shadow step. Often it is used in an emergency where even a split second of floundering around will result in dying. The problem is compounded when all of the visual effects going off around you make it hard to even find where the mouse pointer is. This takes time, which is in short supply when being chain cc’d and focused.

Removing the UI interference with the mouse pointer on range select would be a great QoL improvement.

  • Remove camera spin/repositioning when using siege

For example I want to refresh dozen siege weapons in a keep. I run on a wall with some arrow carts on it. The camera is facing camera along the wall. When I use an arrow cart the camera spins uncontrollably towards the direction the arrow cart is facing. When I leave the arrow cart I have to re-orient the camera back to original direction. Repeating this dozen of times is frustrating.

For example I want to use trebuchet against attackers at gate. The trebuchet is placed close to a wall. When I start to use the trebuchet the camera is moved uncontrollably inside a wall preventing me to see anything.

Personally, before ANET goes and does some more enormous game-destroying changes, they should take a step back. We need like 6 months of class balancing just in WvW. After that it would be nice to have the desert borderlands back in some form, anything to break up the megazergs. Maybe they could introduce a mechanic that only allows so many people from each side into an objective area? Like no more than 5 or 10 at a time in a camp, 10-20 in a tower, 50 in SMC or keep?

What exactly would that solve? Give some examples.

We have a queue system in place for each map. It basically prevents some players playing where they want. In theory we have EotM where players can wait out the queue. ANet has removed crafting stations from the borderlands because some PvE players were adding to the queues. You should address such issues.

If you try to achieve some kind of structured PvP area, there is sPvP just for that. Small maps, simpleton mechanics, limited gear, predictable encounters, etc. Big yawn. Nothing like the chaos and player created content we have in WvW.

I would like the ability to make a specific commanders tag not show up at all. We have a troll “commander” that will tag up and confuse people.

Good luck with that, well known that the balance in this game is done for spvp. They’ve done a couple minor split skills with pve, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up on splits for wvw.

After that it would be nice to have the desert borderlands back in some form, anything to break up the megazergs. Maybe they could introduce a mechanic that only allows so many people from each side into an objective area? Like no more than 5 or 10 at a time in a camp, 10-20 in a tower, 50 in SMC or keep?

They could do russian roulette on a maximum of 5 players gets credit for anything. 20 take a tower? only 5 will randomly get credit. But that’s like throwing a huge party of 20 of your friends but only having enough food for 5 of them. Makes no sense to create huge open maps that can hold over 60 players, and then want to restrict them everywhere they go and everything they do. Wvw is about having a large amount of players pvping, zergs are part of it, if you want small numbers go to spvp.

I know all the potential negatives and trolling that can come from this. I did some commanding last night and it was nigh impossible to coordinate a stonemist 3 way with typing and the pugs simply ignoring the chat while the other servers were clearly in voice comms of some kind with how effectively they coordinated.

Something for my squad or for shot range comms that could help me coordinate pugs who don’t want to alt-tab out to get on teamspeak would be sweet. It should have vox, push to talk, and continuous stream options (though i doubt anyone would use the thrid one). If bandwidth is a problem anet could contract it out to Mumble or someone of the likes.

Anti trolling measures could include:
- Blocking a player blocks their voice comms too
- Commander has priority override option for their squad, cmdr and lieutenants can mute players in the squad
- Report options for language and harassment

This would be more helpful than Anet likely realizes, especially with people DDoS’ing on all tiers, the parent (main) server’s TeamSpeak server.

I would go as far as say make it so that all members on the map can speak even if not in squad. As their many people (solo, duo, trio, and small guild party) roaming groups that let people know of the zergs and attack opposing objectives while the main big zerg is doing something else.

Even then to coordinate better without using TeamSpeak commander comm channel too with other commanders. Like have it so that squad members hear the commander of their squad but the commander of the squad can hear the other commander too as a dim whisper.

im in favor of this since on page 2, it will help alot on new WvWers and the old as well as new aspiring commanders, it may come in handy on PVE too

but…. they are too focused on bugs and UIs lel…….

As for voice chat in game, I’d be all for it but hardly any PC game has it. I wonder if teamspeak and the like throw kickbacks at the game industry to not use it.

Lotro has this in their game. The difference in pve and pvp of a group/raid being managed with voice vs typed was night and day. IMHO if people are going to run in a group get off your lazy kitten and into a ts server if its provided. Difficult to direct and get your skills off correctly while typing as apposed to hands free voice or ptt on a easily thumbed key.

Thing is I’ve tried the “get off your lazy kitten and get in the TS” approach and it rarely works save for the few dedicated wvwers that are on at the time. While it may be buggy sometimes an ingame TS doesn’t require any third party apps that a player may not recognize or trust and doesn’t require tabbing out of the game to activate. I’d even prefer if they didn’t have to do anything to activate it, simply being near me or in my squad and being able to hear the voice comms would be sufficient. The stability of the feature depends on how well the devs implement it.

As someone who would rather play WvW but ends up in PvE as often as not, there is literally one thing and one thing only that would make me shift to play more in WvW: make the financial rewards competitive with open-world PvE boss and meta-event fighting. I’m not saying make them better, but just not so much worse that it’s a joke. If I have to choose where to spend my time, it should be a financial toss-up. That would bring a handful of players back into the game, and help prevent future attrition. The game mode just doesn’t compete with the other mode if you’re trying to save up for something or just like to see the cash rolling in.

Some other things (sorry if some of this is a repeat; I didn’t read everyone’s):

Bring to front the commander’s nameplate and tag when commander is within, say, 160 units of any other character nameplates on the same team. Or so.

I would personally rather be able to see the other commanders on a map in addition to the one who is leading my squad so I have an understanding of what’s going on, but a little light burst around MY commander’s tag on both the map and in the game would make it easier to differentiate where I’m supposed to be.

In-game voicechat would be great someday.

Commanders should be able to broadcast to all maps simultaneously if they need to do an all-call, to defend the garrison, for example.

RI time remaining indicators on map would be great.

Some WXP for renewing siege, but only if under a certain threshold.

Double (or bonus) WXP points weekends or events. Like…promote the game within the game? I’ve always wondered why bonus point weekends were abandoned with GW1. If the tournaments attracted attention but caused attrition, maybe smaller, isolated events would pique interest without causing the attrition.

I wouldn’t recommend scaling killing rewards so that only the best players get the best stuff, at least, not as long as there aren’t enough people playing the game mode. That would be off-putting to new players who haven’t found their footing yet and would tend to further homogenize builds and professions.

No battle chat. Ugh.

I’d like to see the actual server a player belongs to in the nameplate, not a default to the higher ranked server in a pairing.

Refreshing siege is not fun. I would rather remove the whole concept from WvW.

For example remove the need to refresh siege:

  • Decay timers are not resettable nor deferrable
  • Siege weapons built within friendly towers/keeps/castle do not have decay timers
  • Siege weapons built elsewhere have 1 hour decay timer; flame rams have 15 min decay timer as before
  • Golems have 1 hour decay timer regardless where they are built
  • If an objective is captured the newly hostile siege within that do not have a timer yet all receive 15 min decay timer
  • Add Self-Destruct skill on siege to get rid of troll siege pushing region/map limits
    • Available for siege that do not have a decay timer
    • Available for members of the guild that has the objective claimed

Or for example remove the need to build defensive siege in advance:

  • Decay timers are not resettable nor deferrable
  • Siege weapons built within friendly objectives have reduced supply cost (only 1/4 supplies needed)
  • Golems’ supply cost is the same regardless where they are built

Or at least make refreshing a whole lot easier. For example:

  • Display the lowest friendly siege decay timer on the objective’s details window
  • Add Refresh Siege option for tower/keep/castle lord dialog
    • The option refreshes decay timers of all siege within the objective
