I think most are happy that WvW is finally getting more rewards to help offset the costs of playing it, however I would like to weigh the specifics of the Pros and Cons to get a better picture of how WvW rewards could be best implemented. Please post your pros and cons to the current system and improvements you think could be made to better benefit the WvW community and overall gameplay in WvW.

MY Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • It is great we finally get reward tracks and do not have to go to PvE to have access to them!

Cons:

  • Participation level goes up to 100% even while Afking in a keep eating dinner and receiving chests not mashing buttons so you are still rewarded while you are AFK.
  • PvE is still being rewarded in a PvP game mode, encouraging players to die fast and go back and PvD, kill NPC, get rewards rather than encouraging players to fight challenging fights over objectives. This promotes bad game play and is still devaluing PvP in a PvP game mode.
  • Siege damage on players is still rewarded encouraging zerg siege humping and rewarding lazy game play instead of encouraging players to learn to play their characters and have challenging PvP action.
  • Fighting players over objectives without the use of siege is not encouraged by the reward system, thus there still is not enough incentive to do so. If the rewards are removed from PvE elements and directly linked to fighting players over objectives without the use of siege, it would bring the open field fights to inside the objectives again and bring back value to the fight instead of the PvE elements and lazy game play.

Players should have a chance to receive ascended and legendary items for killing other players as an offensive team or a defensive team over an objective without the use of siege damage on players giving defensive team a slightly improved buff over the offensive team to encourage defending objectives, not just K train. If you do not have this buff when fighting outside of objectives, of course players will move to the objectives instead. The current system does not do that at all, thus does not encourage players to fight over objectives since they can open field or PvD a non defended objective would be faster loot.
