WvW "Rewards" just went through the floor.
I’m seeing commanders prioritize bloodlust over keep and tower defence. I’m seeing 90% of my time and organized guilds contesting and focussing on bloodlust because it’s buff is more important than PPT. As we can see my server, Blackgate, has been running the lowest PPT for most of the day, yet they have gained a points gap overall. Capping camps, towers and keeps is now rare. And if it isn’t, your server is doing it wrong. So my understanding is the devs have wanted to improve rewards. But they just went through the floor for dedicated WvW players. You can play for hours without a single drop of karma, coin and only a little bit of WXP for player kills. You need an absolute minimum of 85 kills to gain one level to get a reward, but in reality its usually in the hundreds and a couple of hours of PvPing.
Devon recently said something along the lines that WvW players should be able to earn what they want in the game through WvW and a little sprinkle of PvE. But the reality is WvW has become hundreds of % less rewarding to the point where we will only be getting anything substantial through PvE. So will we see any changes here from Anet?
That’s what I want to know, this patch seems to have ruined WvW, the person who I hear about that is the developer Devon from what I understand isn’t even someone who is a WvW player, why is this person in charge of something he knows nothing about? I mean if I ever even see a Developer it’s because I’m bored and there happens to be one at a meta event, I have never seen one in WvW, do they even go there?
Now that they are buffing and reworking all the world bosses, everyone is starting to QQ about the rewards from them and I bet sooner or later Anet will give in and increase the rewards from them, and now we have even less rewards in WvW.
Good job Anet. Bravo, Bravo… (Sarcasm yet again) <— For you know who…

TBQH, we all saw this coming, posted vehemently on the forums about it, and yet no one listened.
spvp is dead, now they’re trying to kill wvw. I guess GW2 really is going to be a casual pve scrub-only game.

I hope so. We’re calm, likeable people, and are probably the demographic that ANet actually builds games for; Those who appreciate the work and, when they choose to give criticism, do it constructively and usually without poisonous derision toward our fellow gamers. Yet… some of our fellows just have this way of earning derision.

Currently, you have +300 PPT, and have put Sanctum of Rall down to +135PPT. Tell us more about Blackgate not getting PPT all day or ever since this horrible patch.
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.

sorry that your karma/wxp train is taking a momentary break from running around in circles doing PvDoor.
I am sure it will be back to the regular pattern of combat avoidance in the near future.
I genuinely have no idea why the points don’t give world experience. If there were concerns about cap trading, then find systems to directly address that. Making what’s now the dominant portion of world vs. world unrewarding was not a good idea.
i love it. finally i get rewardet with fighsts again players that cannot hide in their stupid keeps. if you want drops go to pve mode and not pvp

I don’t think it’s so much that there are ‘concerns’ about cap trading, as the system inherently promotes cap trading. You don’t need all the points, so some get left alone, and enemies go to those. Meanwhile your team re-caps the ones they left. It’s like musical chairs squares.
Right. Then find solutions to that. Siphoning players to content that’s unrewarding is unacceptable.
If the zergs are roaming for the capture points i am glad, more fights and less bunkering in fortified keeps.
My moves are fresh, like my groceries.

It does to a degree. But as I have found with the guilds I have run with, you need to draw the line somewhere. If you just keep running around capping, your not going to get the bloodlust stacks. You need to split up and get bunker defence to hold the points you have capped whilst pushing for 3 or preferably more to ensure you get your stacks at the end of the timer.

What I have found is that its actually bad for zergs to roam capture points. Thus far anyways. You need to break up that zerg into smaller groups though which I think is great. Ive noticed some stress from the commanders though, there is alot more for them to consider now :p
This is the first day the bloodlust buff has been released. Remember when WXP was added? everyone just killed for a week straight. it will calm down once people stop being so excited about it.
Give it time… once the trains figure out their reward is non existant I think it will become what its intended to be. A haven for 5 mans and below. At last.
They need to rework the stat buff though… its massively breaking wvw for all.
Give it time,
the buff is new, the Borderlands just got a revamp and naturally most people are drawn to what is new and interesting.
While I agree that adding the stat-bonuses was unnecessary I do think the Bloodlust buff was a good addition to WvW. I may be wrong but I won’t concede that a day into the new patch.

That’s how every capture location works in WvW. It’s better to run from tower to tower, camp to camp, keep to keep flipping them all via PvDoor than it is to defend. Commanders are more interested in karma trains and PvDoor undefended objectives than they are in defending anything. You flip my tower while I flip yours, then we swap and flip them back. Repeat.
I find it interesting people are unhappy that players are unhappy that they are getting too much open field combat.

We have had for a while a “Friday night karma train” in Tier 1 NA. Basically if the scores are completely imbalanced and there is no chance of coming back then the majority of organized guilds don’t defend and just pvdoor. You still get some who do and most pugs do. But this is only every few weeks because often the scores are too close either between 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd. Now with the new potential points in a 24 hours period this is kind of out of the question and Tier 1 at least is the most balanced its been in a long time now JQ has picked up some strong guilds.
But as for the vast majority of times, everyone will defend to the death and respawn and run back if needed.
But its like, I’ve played 5 hours tonight, less than usual because of guild missions. And I have received 2 levels in those five hours from stomping. Prior to the patch I was making a minimum of 1 level per hour as well as copious karma, coin and other stuff. Now an average night in WvW yields at best nothing and at worst a repair bill combined with upgrade costs (net loss). Anet have said they wanted WvW to be rewarding and for dedicated players to only need to do a little sprinkle of PvE but they have really nerfed this. I love the additions, don’t get me wrong. But they have really contradicted what they were aiming to do here.
You don’t earn anything for capturing those points. You get a buff. What is the incentive for players or teams for capturing and defending them? To get everybody else a buff to run around and get points while you sit there and get squat?
These guys really have no clue.
Solution: Take the the gold Blackgate paid you to transfer there and run! Run to a better server.

Anet is notorious for making promises they cannot or do not keep. They might promise you the moon, and give you a Moon Pie. WvW is obviously the “red headed step child” in the family. I’m finding less reasons to play and more to find other productive things to do with my spare time.

I love it. It keeps the PvD/E zerger crowd away from it and brings in people who want to PvP.
You know, that thing when you actually attack other players and try to kill them. You should try it sometimes, it’s hella fun!

The moment SoR’s TS went down was the moment Sor began dropping from the lead.
There are WAY more factors to consider than mere bloodlust. Server player/guild composition is another one.
If blackgate is so focused on these bloodlust buffs then why are they 12k points in the lead? Trust me, your server has enough people to have the bloodlust buff and win PPT.
Any complaint made by someone from BG should be nullified lol.
Bloodlust is more important than objectives, especially for T1 during prime time. Holding a bloodlust buff is worth more points than holding a keep, above and beyond the huge power spike for everyone in WvW.
If you hold bloodlust long enough you will eventually snowball off their power increase and take a ton of objectives, it just takes a while to kick in.
If your commanders are running around attacking towers and keeps while another server holds bloodlust they are doing it wrong. Towers and keeps are objectives you use to pull people out of the bloodlust arena, not the other way around.
I noticed that, too. I’ve only played a few hours in WvW since the patch, but the return was significantly lower than usual across the board (wxp, loot, etc).

“Miagi say best way to avoid punch is no be there.”
But more seriously, avoiding combat as a way to win is also part of ‘The Art of War’ if I recall correctly; an accepted (and preferred) strategy in reality back then, and even moreso today. Another similar option is to make your enemy your friend or to cause them to depend on you. We’re not quite there yet in PvE, but it has been tried incidentally. Even in tier 1.
(…and speaking of avoiding punches… this guy … gonna miss him. Shame he became so easily bored.)
