I agree, that is stupid. EoTM does nothing for your server in terms of winning or losing a match. People who are in EoTM, should not get any credit for the season meta.

I kinda agree. All letting them do the meta in EoTM is going to hurt the lower servers chances at winning anything.

We certainly don’t wanna not reward people for not doing WvW.
Well, you don’t want to give a wvw reward for… not… wvw’ing… If I got a PvE specific reward for something in WvW I’d be all, wtf?
Meh… The system they used during Season 1 to determine who got the Rewards anyway was just silly. I mean, how much did people contribute to WvW by doing all 4 Jumping Puzzles? Ques; that’s the only thing that most people contributed to WvW while doing their achievements, longer WvW ques. I’m really glad they’re putting the Achievements in EotM this time, it means fewer fake Commanders trying to run AP trains in the middle of the week, with no consideration for the score.
I mean, the Meta-Achievement last time was for people who were doing little bits of everything in WvW, while real contributions were often being made by people who had a more singular focus that often made it difficult for them to get the Meta Achievement anyway (taking/holding Bloodlust, preventing enemy upgrades at all costs, scouting for 4 hour shifts, etc). So yeah, I think this is good. There’s no screening process to ensure that people are contributing to PPT or whatever, and not just auto-building flame rams somewhere to finish an achievement. At least now they’ll be doing it somewhere other than the Borderlands or EB.
Run around naked for a week spamming airstrikes = Get 2 new WvW skins that you use in Fractals until next season.
I agree that season 1 achievements did not reflect actually beneficial WvW play. Especially jumping puzzles etc.
For season 2, I would much rather see things like:
Successfully escort 25 yaks
Successfully defend a keep for 3 successive defenses (ie: single defense battle lasts for more than 9 minutes of defending)
Successfully capture a waypointed Garrison 10 times
etc….
I would even think it would be cool to have server-wide achievements in which a community effort would be required. Examples could be:
Hold Stonemist Castle for your server for 3 consecutive days.
Construct 3 waypointed keeps in the Home Borderland
Successfully construct waypointed keep in Enemy Borderland
Granted, these are probably unfeasable…but would be cool.
I have also digressed from the point. The meta achievements should relate to benefiting your sever in such a way to work toward victory in the WvW Tournament. These achievements should therefore be limited to people actually contributing to their server’s standing and pride. EotM is nothing more than a loot farm.

Agreed. You shouldn’t get anything for not helping your server in the tournament. That’s a redic stupid proposal.
It’ll allow players that just want to bandwagon to rank 1 servers to avoid the downsides.
Seems they really want that transfer $ and kitten everything else.

The last two sentences are what it’s really about. They’ll probably raise the server cap too. The sooner they can get competitive WvW limited to a handful of server, the sooner they can do away with all that and make it EotM…then get rid of that and hopefully their E-Sports dreams will finally become true.

Because some servers WvW is incredibly limited and trying to complete the meta on them is almost impossible?
If we are on the subject of easy rewards, whats the point in even having the tournament? At this point it is just a question of whether BG or JQ wins, giving them easy rewards. Do you really believe that just because a server has more people they should get better rewards?

No skins or rewards is going to make me want to ever waste my time:
- running yaks
- paying for upgrades
- running back and forth building siege
- watching any structure and sitting on an AC to make sure said siege isn’t wasted
- standing around in circles to activate some stupid and unnecessary buff
If these kinds of activities are what counts as WvWvWing then it can choke on kittens and die.
This is actually a good thing. If you take a look at what happened in EU, many of the strongest guilds in the top servers left to other servers due to PvE players taking up queues and not allowing players who actually play WvW to get in. Giving PvE players a place to play means actual WvW guilds can get in and do what they do best. But at the same time this doesn’t apply to everyone. And in all honesty they should just remove rewards from WvW altogether so real WvW guilds and players can play the game the way it was intended instead of this Karma Train BS we are getting now.

They should make the achievement to NOT be detrimental to the server… instead of making them accessible through other gameplay…
As others said, yak escort, siege refresh, general scouting would help WvW… and I see no way it can be abused like what happened with wall repairs / doors cruchers, etc.
Yep, that might create some qqing because of not getting on the map to get the achievements, but, it’s the cost of being on a high WvW population server…
Harder for lower pop servers to do them for lack of manpower, harder for higher pop servers to do them because of the number of participants… Looks fair…
