With the way things are currently most tiers are locked in place with each other with no chance of “random” matches. I know the gap got closed a little bit after league but i think that the rating should be reset with a 100point gap between tiers (some people can recall when the rating was reset to 1500 for ALL servers).

The collapse and rise of various different servers have moved ratings to the point that there are huge gaps between tiers.

I think Server rating either need a reset or we need to go back to the old randomized matches so that we can actually get some variety in competition.

PS: Im speaking as a player that enjoys fighting and would rather not have to PPT for 90% of raid to push the server to desired locations.

I fear that even NA ratings (EU-matchmaking works very well at moment) actually represent Strength quite well.

A reset or more randomization would only increase the number of blow-out matches.

the ratings are actually pretty accurate as they are. yes, that means match stagnation for a lot of servers (mostly in NA), but the alternative is blowouts which isn’t much better.

the only problem is NA tier 1, where the ratings gap has gotten so wide that there’s no longer any randomness at all. ordinarily this would be something to worry about, but during season play those servers will get an opportunity to play against lower tiers and we’ll find out then whether their ratings need any adjustment downwards. and during non-season play, none of the other servers want to play against them anyway.

sure reset them, but first un-link them from PvE servers and give the WvW ‘worlds’ new names, maybe even reduce the # of them by a tier or two, and create a separate transfer option for WvW than from PvE where the cost is based on world rank and not population.
