This is my take on the current state of WvW with the latest patches and nerfs and my suggestions on ideas to improve the quality of the experience for players all around.

1) Arrow Carts – Some people like the buff, some people hate it. I think it went somewhat too far. Did arrow carts need a buff? Yes. Did they need 80% increase + new trait line? Not so much. Cut the increase damage back to a 50% increase instead of the 80%, but only for damage to Players/mobs. Reduce the damage carts do to all siege to a 20% increase of what it was prior to patch. Arrow carts should hurt when they hit you, after all an arrow in real life hurts. Also arrows will damage something made of wood, but it tends to take a while before that damage amounts to enough to destroy something.

2) New WvW map – One of the top complaints on T1 and T2 are queue times. I propose a new 5th map that would basically be an overflow with a focus on Guild vs Guild. This map you would party up with Guildies or Pugs and enter a map with other groups of your size and then enter. This map would not be solely against your current matchups, it would be overflow, a mix and match of whatever players/guilds joined from all servers. There would of course be several of these maps, one for say soloers to 3 man squads then 3 to 5 man and then 5 to 10 and so on.

There would be the complication of larger groups trying to dominate a map designated for smaller groups. This I think could be nullified by revamping the party management allowing for larger parties and requiring a party while in the map. Outside of your party all other players would be considered enemies, this would prevent several squads from 1 server ganging up on everyone else and allow some Guild vs Guild fights on the same server. Scoring on the map would be based solely on PvP kills, no objectives to cap or hold, there could be Towers/keeps, but they would not be worth points just for use as defensive positions. Player kills would add to the World’s overall Point score, while deaths would subtract an equal number of points from the overall score, this would prevent Guilds from the same server farming each other to artificially increase their worlds overall score.

3) Confusion – Stop punishing good players because of bad players. Most have said this, and it holds a certain truth, but not the entire story. The nerf to confusion was too great. Instead of a damage nerf it should have been a max stacks nerf. Now condition Mesmers are pretty worthless.

4) Stealth – Change stealth to revealed no matter how the player leaves stealth.

5) Servers – Upgrade your servers. Skill lag is a major issue in big battles, even medium battles now (as for some reason it seems worse to me since the patch before last). I know I don’t just speak for myself in that there are new games on the horizon and if Skill lag continues to be an issue a large portion of the WvW player base will leave and not come back if Skill lag is not addressed.

6) 30 secs till swords – Change back camps. If a camp comes under attack let us know right away, not 30 secs later. 30 secs and its gone. The change is ok for towers/keeps, however there should be no delay of swords/contested wp’s after the initially contested state. If the keep/tower is under constant attack wp’s should no longer work for 30 secs in between defense event transitions. It took skill to kill off players and prevent them from getting back into a sieged tower/keep. Now all they have to do is wait 2-3 mins and they have a 30 sec free window to get in. Making another portion of tactical play pointless if not the way to enhance game play.

7) Siege despawn timers – This is a plus. Timers are now visible and simple. Devs have already stated they will be looking into changing the despawn time for different siege so +1 for you all on that. I would suggest 10 mins for rams, 30 mins for cata/treb/golem and 1 hour for arrow carts and ballista.

8) PvD – Make doors invulnerable to damage from players just as walls are. Ok, don’t like that, then at least make Reinforced doors invulnerable to damage from players. As it is right now a group of 25+ can hammer a door down in just a few minutes, groups of 50+ there isn’t even a point to the door being there. You want players to use siege, make us.

9) AoE limit – I have read that AoE limit is required for technical reasons, well if you say so. I agree there should be a limit to AoE, but a different limit. Instead of limiting a person’s AoE to hitting 5 people change it to 1 person cannot be hit by more than 5 AoE’s. As the limit is now the Zerg rules because small squads can’t hurt them effectively if they bunched together. This change would allow small squads to hurt Zergs and force them to spread out or even split up. Some might say well a 5 man squad shouldn’t be able to kill a 30 man zerg, well this change doesn’t do that. 30 people can still kill 5 easily (this after all only affects AoE) but 5 AoE’s can still bring a person down quick. What this does do is give a 5 man squad a reason to fight instead of just running and hoping the zerg splits up so they can pick stragglers off.

From my understanding it is just one server for eu and another for na. obviously 2 servers are not enough so simple fix – get more servers

1) Agree +1

2) Sounds nice but I don’t think it would be good to let it effect the points in the match. This would end up hurting lower pop servers because they don’t have the people to cover the 4 maps plus trying to farm kills in the 5th. Also I think it could be easily exploited. But there should be something done for the GvG crowd outside of sPvP and WvW. Though I would prefer they focus on make WvW it’s self better first.

3)I can’t say a agree or disagree with the nerf but I do feel I needed a rework of some sort. I think it was powerful (I would quite say OP but close) but flat out nerfing the damage was a cop out on “fixing” the mechanic.

4) Stealth…I’m biased so I won’t comment.

5) Yup would be nice. Nothing to say really.

8) I don’t see PvD as a problem. It takes quite a while to beat a door down unless you have 50+ people and if 50+ people can stand there and PvD the door down, they can do it with siege. IMO this is a silly issue to complain about.

9) My suggesting on this matter is, treat each skill differently. Right now the base AoE limit is 5 people, leave it there. Then reevaluate all the AoE skills and adjust them accordingly. Some skills may be 5 people, where others could be 10. You can add increase AoE limit for X skills to X in traits. I’ll leave that at that since there are a ton of threads with a ton of ideas, with a ton of different views.

My idea on the 5th map or “overflow” map is an idea just to get players playing instead of quiting or swapping servers because of long queues and also to address people’s desire for GvG. Yes there are issues that would need to be worked out to prevent exploitation, but I think it is something that could be done. The Points earned there would be needed since you can’t expect people to go there and die without earning something for there server. I’m not sure what 1 player on player kill earns towards the the total score, but I don’t think it would skew the points for low population servers. The idea is low tier worlds and high tier worlds could end up there together fighting each other strictly PvP. Its just a thought and not a perfect one, sure others have other ideas that are better or could improve on it.

Also something I read from another forum warrior, a reward at the end of every week for WvW. If you WvW a certain # of hours during the match you earn a chest based on your worlds place. Heck I’d be happy to get 1 gold for the week, but I’m sure they can think of something better than that.
