WvW Tournament Rewards
So… I believe you do the achievement then next week talk to the historian (after reset). That is the part you have to claim, the tickets should last indefinitely. Hopefully that helps but I will read the post and see if I missed anything.

the tickets should match the tickets given out in the last tournament. The tickets were an actual trophy item that takes up inventory space. They shouldn’t delete them. that part refers to talking to the historian and collecting them.
Gates Of Madness
Jewelcrafting to 500!
Claim tickets the following week. Spend tickets whenever. Tickets are the same as season 2. Tickets in season 45 6 etc should be the same (or until told they are not)
Part of the reason they went over to using tickets is so that people on lower tier servers could save up over successive tournaments to get the top rewards. In order for that to work the tickets can’t expire. Also a lot of the prizes cost more than even the 1st place servers will win in 1 week.
You have to collect them within a week of winning them (for example if you did the week 1 achievement between the 12th and 18th you have to collect the tickets on or before the 25th) but once you’ve got them you can keep them as long as you want.
I got my tickets from the 1st weeks achievement today and they stacked with ones left over from the Spring tournament.
Once you’ve got them you speak to the Battle Historian and ask to see the rewards to spend them.

I have a question about the rewards for this season and its mainly regarding the logic behind the costs on certain items.
specifically the cost of crafting a mist forged weapon vs buying one outright.
In order to craft a mist forged weapon i have to buy a gift of heroes 200 tickets a heroes weapon at 100 tickets and on top of that i must then buy 4 elonian wines (cost 1g) and 10 crystalline dusts (cost 2g 27s) so the total cost of crafting one is 300 tournament tickets and 3g 27s
Or i can just buy the weapon outright for 300 tickets.
whats the logic behind this where is my incentive to craft one ?
i feel like there should be a ticket saving to be made in crafting one of something like 25-50 tickets i wouldent even mind if it cost a little more resources.

I am a bit confused by how it works as well. Only thing I could think is if doing it separately gets you two separate skins (though they look so similar, it’d be kind of odd if that’s how it works..).
Originally, in season 2 lowest ranking servers could not have bought mist forged. Idea was to allow them to buy heroes and upgrade them s3…. Well with the reward screwup, every one got enough tickets for mist forged anyway…..

The point was so that, if you didn’t enough tickets at the end of a tournament to buy a mist forged weapon outright, you could buy a heroes weapon in the meantime and then upgrade it later. It’s so people who get fewer tickets can still have some reward.

I bought 6 hero’s weapons back then and had planned to upgrade few of them to mistforged ones during this tournament. BUT. Seems like I made a mistake. I didn’t save the rare weapons which I bought, I just salvaged them to get the skins unlocked, mostly to save space. And now I couldn’t find how to upgrade the weapon without the rare itself.
So is there some way to do it? Or is this seriously one of the biggest kittened logic Anet implemented in this game?

It’s a mystic forge recipe, it works the same as any of the others. Which means that yes, you have to have the item. You can’t upgrade something you don’t have.
Just like you can’t make a legendary just by having the precursor skin unlocked.

Great.
i still dont see the point you spend 300 tournament tickets either way so what was the point in buying all those heroes weapons when you could have saved the tickets till later and not have to spend the other resources
lets say for example at the end of this tournament i have 200 tickets left im not gona buy 2 heroes weapons and hold on to em for god knows how long ill just hold the tickets till i actualy have 300 next match up and go straight for a mistforged weapon

As I understand it the thinking was that some people wouldn’t like waiting until a later tournament to get their reward. They’d rather get a weapon right away and upgrade it later for a little extra cost, that way at least they got something.

The way season 2 was supposed to work – servers 7 8 9 in a bracket would not have had enough tickets for a mist forged. Because of the reward delay / screw up everyone was issued bonus tickets and they ended up with enough tickets for a mist forged anyway. That said, I wouldn’t by a hero myself.
The logic behind it was well explained in this post. It simply did not work out and it made the reward system for WvW season really poor.
You get the rewards too easily (5 events?!!?!?), even though I like the logic that WvW does not have to be a PvE AP grinding field, and TBH the skins are not even that great.
I would simply put achievements on players’ kills so that people are actually forced to “play” and not just to bandwagon, PvD or farm EotM; AND a new set of weapon/armor skins every season.
The system how it is now looks simply not well thought and clumsy.
I love WvW and I do not play it for rewards per se. However, this is a MMO and rewards should be better thought….
