I’m starting to get a little annoyed by the trash mobs in WvW. I’ve had quite a few fights ruined by them now. You fight an epic battle against some player and get them down, you head in for the spike only to have them rally off some random Moa that walked into the battle. Or a thief who backstabs random mobs for stealth. Also a lot of players use them to stack effects from runes or necro’s use them to build life force.
Also they slow down movement, we run slowly while in combat and the world has enough running around to make this an issue. So you either run around mobs making the distance further or you risk aggroing them making you slower.
They get in the way and add nothing positive to the game, why do we need herds of moa and packs of random wolves in the warzone. I would be a very happy camper if Anet would consider removing them, I’m not an expert but I think it may even improve game performance as it would free up server resources.
Let me know your thoughts on the issue.
Agreed. They need to be greatly thinned out. Not to mention the terrible lakes in the middle of all borderlands.
If we’re putting up a wish list, I wish the scenery was nicer. Whenever I dive into one of those lakes in game I half-flinch iRL. So icy. Couldn’t they have put wvw in a pretty tropical place, Lion’s Arch style? It would be so much nicer to be a corpse on a sunny beach than in a swamp.
How about those raptors that can chain daze you for 10 seconds…
They might add some dynamics to the game in certain scenarios but usually they are just an annoyance.
If you can’t handle the mobs, then I suggest you play a little PVE and learn to kill them there.

The mobs and placement are fine in WvW just as they are.
If you want little/no mobs go play sPvP
I would prefer if the silly animals was replaced by a far bigger presence of guard patrols (that doesnt go down in seconds).

The amount of pve mobs to square footage is way to dense. I’m sure in t8 the mobs out # players at some point. It’s great to see other threads like this.

I totally agree. The mobs in WvW are very annoying, especially in the middle of a battle. And those darn Eagle Raptors! By far they are the most annoying.
el oh el. Use the animals to your advantage! Hilarious to tank through a pack of wolves or or drakes while trying to do small group combat or 1v1. They’re there to make the pvp more dynamic, and I think they can be highly effective. I’m always pulling my enemy into animals to gain the upper hand in a fight. Being a bunker, I let the animals do the DPS for me. kitekitekitekite XD

The mobs are there to make things more difficult. That may be annoying to you, but I’ve seen lots of players use them to their advantage in a 1v1 fight. Just because you haven’t figured out how to do that doesn’t mean they don’t have a place.
Think of them as landmines. Feel better now?

The PVE crap in the zones also adds a great deal to the skill lag.
Get rid of the 100 krait and the lake in the middle before you bother with the mobs on land. Once you’ve done that, make the skritt and centaurs stop attacking camps. After that thing out the other mobs. I don’t mind having camps in wvw, but the mobs are everywhere.
If nothing else freeze the kitten lake and leave holes to go down underneath the ice.

I find this to be the case, using an older PC. I doubt it would cause any problems server-side, but for a lot of us it makes things worse than they need to be client-side.
Right now, they’re kind of just there for sigil stacking and helping thieves.

I don’t see how this would be an issue client-side. It’s not like you’re having massive 40v40 battles in the middle of a centaur camp or lake. In regular fighting areas, I don’t think I can find more than maybe 5 or 6 random mobs running around within camera view. Sure they may be around you, but if you aren’t looking at them, they aren’t a problem. A single stealthed thief has an alpha layer texture than renders as heavy as those six mobs combined.
Now whether or not they cause skill lag is something else. I don’t even know what to say about that, and – for what it’s worth – I think these mobs should be removed as well. Just them being a client-side issue seems imagined to me.
