I was curious how switching servers worked with WvW. Specifically, if I switch servers to a server that my current server battles with in WvW, will I have to wait a period of time before joining WvW on the new server or will I be able to participate right away.

Reason I ask is I have been very close to 100% world complete for about 3 weeks now. In fact, I only need 2 PoIs and 1 Vista in EB. The thing is, those PoIs and Vista belong to a server in WvW that is very good on WvW and for 3 weeks I havent been able to get those points.

I was told if I switch there would be a period of cool down where I wouldnt be able to play WvW. I am hoping this isnt the case because what I really want to do is transfer, grab those 2 PoIs and 1 Vista and then 7 days later transfer back to my server.

That is why I put it in the WvW section. The question is WvW related even though my reason is PvE related.

The question is, when you switch server to a server that your server is WvW with, can you participate in WvW right away or is there some cool off period that you have to wait before joining WvW.

You’ll have to wait seven days to transfer back .. but yes it’s doable. I almost did it myself, but then I decided to stay and fight in WvW and help my server. Wound up getting all my pois, just had to be patient and pitch in. And I had to wait nearly three weeks to get all my map completion, but once in, I’m now hooked on WvW because it’s a very interesting aspect of this game.

You’ll feel better about yourself too if you help with the fight .. go into map and stay a couple hours. They change all the time and if you stay you’ll likely get your missing pois and vista.

There is no cooldown for entering WvW. However, you must wait a week to transfer back.

You also will not receive the world-wide WvW buffs until the next match after having switched.
