WvW and world map completion should NOT be linked
Think of it on the flipside, both sides population can be filled with people who are not actively engaging in the battles.
Also, these people will generally be alone and therefore easy targets.
Some of those coming to do map completion may never have considered world pvp before and find out they are really good at it or enjoy it because they happened to give it a try while there. Your server gets another soldier.
Pros and cons to everything if you are willing to think about it.
I agree with the above comment. i went on for my World completion and now i am a regular player of WvW.
Just get on join group and you will have the POI and Vistas in no time.
If you wonder around on your own you will just be cannon fodder.
Here’s how everyone else gets Wv3 map completion: move to the server that is utterly dominating. Profit. You will be done in like an hour or so.

I hate having to be forced to go into WvW to finish my map completion. Didn’t need to do it in the first game. Why do we need to do it in the second? I despise PvP in any form and this does nothing but frustrate me and want to smash my expensive gaming laptop against a wall. I hate myself for having to do it to get the gifts I need for the hope of a legendary someday.
What kicks the kitten (sorry kitty) is that I am on HoD. When we held all the map, for that whole month, you couldn’t get in for love nor money with the 4 hour queues and the constant disconnects (which dropped you out entirely, meaning another couple of hours wait).
Now that the main PvP force has moved on and what’s left of HoD holds barely a quarter of any map, those of us looking for map completion are borked.
It’s the only part of this game that frustrates the kitten out of me.
The only way to really get them anyway is to go at Midnight on reset when the hardcore are on Night duty and grabbing everything. That’s how I got Gandara borderlands done, don’t think it would have been possible otherwise.
