Is this coming with WvW ranks?

Not from the look of it. From the new Flame and Frost the razing page the supposedly WvW focussed patch will only feature the underwhelming progression system, the fixing of culling and leaderboards.

Yeah I would think if something like ascended gear from wvw was coming we would know about it. Or maybe Anet is going to surprise us. (person that really wants ascended gear in wvw)

Doubt it, but I’m saving my badges just in case.

I’m pretty sure the laurel system was Anet’s way of making ascended gear available to WvW players, I doubt they will be available for purchase through badges.

There was a post not too long ago stating we’re getting new WvW specific gear in exchange for badges. We can only hope.

Yea, new gear. As in more exotics, with different stats.

If they price ascended gear at ~5000 badges each then it will not be easy.

I don’t think they specifically mentioned badges as the currency.

What a kittenty way at that. Even farming fractals was better than doing some kittened daily task each day.

I bet my 3617 badges give me lot’s of ascended gear. Too bad i did buy some invaders gear and invaders weapons before.

I hope so, it’s a nonsense that people doing fractals take gear advantage in WVW over those who only do WVW.

Let us compete on equal terms.

If they did, based in the price for ex gear for badges they would probably cost like 10,000 badges each, sooo not sure it matters.

I hope so, otherwise I will just spend all my badges in 50 alpha golems.

I’m also curious if there are other WvW features in the patch that are unannounced. I like the progression system and titles, but I was under the impression this patch would have a handful of WvW features, not just a fix to culling and the addition of a progression system.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they added ascended gear for badges but made the cost high enough such that it wasn’t easily obtained. If you use the karma cost ratio of rare gear compared to exotic gear you get something like 1/2.65. Currently a full set of exotic gear can be purchased with 1,889 badges, if we use the same ratio as karma cost we’re at 4,993 badges for a full set of ascended, or something like an average of 832 badges per item.

Obviously this is not an accurate comparison b/c the exotic karma gear is all priced equally whereas the rare gear depends on the item slot. Nonetheless, something between 800 and 900 badges for an ascended item makes sense when you consider how long it would take to obtain those badges and compare that to how long it would take to obtain the same item from multiple fractal run.
