Simply put, I would like to know what the various top WvW servers are like. I have 6 lvl 80s but haven’t played in ages. Would like to decide where to go.

Join the Jade Quarry hordes in our noble and benevolent crusade to eradicate the TC vermin from T1 in time for HoT, lest they wreck us all with 50 open-field shield generators guarding their ACs and ballistae.

This is ever server that’s not in T2 or T3. Seriously, if you are competitive and want to enjoy 100% of what WvW offers you can’t play in the lower tiers, the ranks are so terrible. They need to rethink the system because people are just going to get burnt out.

Join TC. You’ll gain many bags and WXP while we rain down justice upon the constant blob of JQ.

All T1 servers are full/not allowed to even join the game on them with new accounts.

I’m looking to transfer away from Dragonbrand. The NA coverage is so poor that I found more enjoyment in T8 where I was transferred from, and I’m burning out quickly on the entire reason I play GW2. That said, I refuse to go to SBI/Mag because they’re both disgusting.

Maguuma is the #1 NA skill server. In other servers, if a player is good, he is considered to have #MagSwag.

TC is a great server to roleplay and WvW in. You’ll find smaller havoc teams and large zergs. The best of both worlds.

If you’re a really good player, BG is a place to aim. They’ll even pay for your transfer fees should you prove to be one of the bestest. They’re known as the rich server, with a War Chest that surpasses imagination.

JQ runs a lot of open field siege tactics. They have large numbers of coordinated zergs that take the frontlines, while Ballista and AC cover their flanks.

Not sure how DB, SoS, and FA are these days.

From what I’ve seen, there is absolutely no skill correlation to players on any server whatsoever. I’ve seen no big plays from the Mag roamers (actually the small groups of 2-3 I’ve bumped into so far have been largely poor players), and frankly every single map available has the outnumbered buff almost all the time during NA hours; their blobs and overall number of players are normally around six or seven times the size of ours.

Assuming your NA, if WvW is important to you, it’s probably best to join one of the Tier1 servers. I’m from JQ and absolutely love the server. A lot of great commanders on it. BG and TC I have respect for and I’m sure that if your aiming for WvW, you can’t go wrong with TC/BG/JQ imo.

JQ’s bloated – they really don’t need more. BG is better to battle against anyways. More skill overall but balanced in population. TC rocks cause we don’t take anything too serious. Just have fun. All T1 and likely T2 NA’s pretty full up as it stands. It really doesn’t matter between them all. You’ll get a lot of the same.

One tip… try to transfer off hours… during low periods. If you look during NA primetime – you’ll never get in.

The server that uses most open field siege is TC, by far. Their nickname is Arrowcart Coast for a reason. I think players always think their servers are perfect angels but truth is all 3 servers in T1 use siege when they don’t need to. Unfortunately a lot of times it’s random pugs that drop these siege and random pugs that waste supplies building them up. Most commanders on JQ absolutely hate open field siege. They yell at people for dropping them, but random pugs do anyway.

For OP, you really won’t find honest recommendations on these forums because people always praise the server they play on. Look at the server rankings and pick from a server in T1/T2 to be safe (safe as in making sure WvW activities are high). There are sites you can go on that shows you up to date maps so you can observe during NA or whatever your timezone is, and see who’s doing well and who isn’t.

You kind of need to explain what kind of server you’re looking for.

The differences between servers can be larger between tiers than between servers in many aspects, so without knowing where in the tiers you’re interested in sitting, there isn’t a whole lot to recommend.

I could always say “Come to Kaineng!” since you haven’t specified any criterias at all. But the truth is that Kaineng is pretty solid in T7 right now, has one of the (NA) games worst NA presences, live entirely on night cap, few commanders, no real guild groups running etc. Unless you like fighting outnumbered, or night-cap-pvd, you’re probably going to have a hard time here. Heck we’re also the only server without a community web-site, and a mess of 3 different team-speak servers and nobody can agree which to use

But hey, if you’re the kind of person that strive on challenge and believe you can thrive under ANY circumstances!

So:
- How “large” a server are you looking for ?
- What level of coverage ?
- What level of guild presences ?
- What time zone you interested in ?
- What play-style you interested in ? (Roaming, zerg, duels, guild, defense, etc)

And probably a dozen more I can’t remember right now…

Don’t go to T1….at all. Its not worth the stress. Believe me, this is one instance where ignorance will truly be bliss if you’re anything close to passionate and willing to form server pride.

To the OP.

In threads like these you will get more server pride thrown at you along with servers accusing one another of doing something, and general light drama. (Rarely beyond light drama.)

The best thing I can suggest is to not look at the scores.(Servers have weeks they slack, or are in a bad match, which can throw scores off.)

I do suggest figuring out which type of community you would be looking for due to most of the wvw servers having a wvw community of sorts. Also what your preferred playstyle is like, or if you’re looking to join a guild or not, ect…

As my friend Mishi said, your not going to get much straight objective based answers asking vague questions, people will simply try to plug their own server bias into the thread.

And remember this, no server is “better” then the other, every server has at some point engaged in shameful and shady behavior, servers are just made up virtual entities. Its people that populate them, anything you find in one, you will find in the other, there are differences yes, but many similarities particularily in behavior, just keep that in mind.

It’s good advice and all but I just wanted to know opinions and some basics. I received that info from some of the brief replies. I have been in SBI when it was at and near top. I left and came back to an abandoned WvW server, relatively speaking. Tried to stay with it but people at bottom usually aren’t ambitious enough to move up ranks.

I decided to a 2nd tier because I want to contend. Had to sacrifice my 80s to move since I don’t have the $20 (disabled from workplace injury). Deleted and moved already.

All the T1 servers have high activities in NA time.
TBH, The Score only represent the number of players and their coverage of time in WvW.

Just for other players who are looking to join a T1 Server:

JQ has the best coverage of players and its number allows them to wipe out all the keeps/garrisons from both servers at the same time everyday. it is because their old guilds have returned as well as paying for other guilds to transfer into their server.

BG has good coverage and good number of people doing WvW in NA/SEA times as well.

TC, the server I am playing has less coverage of other servers but their strength is high. The reason they has lower score is they often have to face against other two servers at the same time on different maps. I find out it is very interesting that BG has put Hill from TC borderland on higher priority than reclaiming their borderland and Keep, after JQ has wiped them.

As a player in TC, I would like to welcome anyone to join our party, It is not the best server BUT we have the best challenge, the satisfaction of successfully defend our keep/garrison from both parties, the joy of working as a team cross maps, the happiness of winning a fight against bigger groups and the sadness of losing a keep.

You can’t join T1 even as a new player. It’s full even to new accounts.

TC was not full earlier and in na prime. I had to look twice…. Either way, op already moved……

Not quite true. The lower tiers simply recognise that WvW is just a game of numbers x coverage. You can’t expect people to just stay online longer and burn themselves out for the “reward” of an even harder matchup next week. The only way a server can climb the ranks these days is with a transfer bandwagon (see: Maguuma).

Eredon Terrace, you’ll feel very important…..especially when there are no commanders and only a handful of pugs

FYI we low tier WvWers are not lacking in ambition, we just prefer to be roamers instead of being carried by 60 man zergs like your kind does ;P

JQ – unequaled king of WvW, 24hrs day they can match any other servers numbers. if winning is all that matters, then bunker up with these fine fellows and tryhard 1 spam till the other team logs out due to lag.
BG -aka Win Gate, on BG the server chooses you. With their legendary war chest they invented purchasing guilds. Early game they ran an amazing PR campaign allowing them to be where they are today.
TC- its the Role Play server……..
FA -aka Fort AssJamers, leave it to FA to both create and destroy the fight tier. No lack of NA fight guilds or map que times.

SoS – Were scrappy and we will scrape and claw by, leaning on our SEA to keep Mag out of T2 untill they Die again.
