I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Hey! Not a huge WvWer myself this year (more active in the past) but I’m really glad to hear WvW players will have their own window into the Heart of Thorns testing process.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-the-wvw-desert-borderlands-stress-tests/
Whip those maps into shape! Us casual WvW players are counting on you!
this almost got me excited, until they mentioned “this initial test will feature some of the most active WvW players in Guild Wars 2.”
active is subjective, active zergmonkey? most World rank points? most post in WvW forums complaining? most kills?
i’d want people who actively play and know every side of WvW and knows how to find the design flaws.
I’m sure they have meta data showing how long an account is in a wvw map.

the guy above you stated it good.
They should just contact main NA and EU guilds to get those people, or talk with different server communities and so they can represent different wvw tiears.
Even would need som EOTM lovers (no i don’t think they plaing wvw there)

You mean like they did with EotM?
We all know how well that worked out in the end.

Yeah, it worked out pretty good. Enough so that we see tons of players there constantly.

I see about 1 complaining posters for hundred players in EotM.
So yeah, there will always be complainers. You can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.
If it’s not available to T1 NA for stress testing, then you ain’t stressing sheet!
Just give of access, we’ll break it, and then you can upgrade it.
Easy way to stress test it is to replace all four maps with it on reset night on all tiers, then see how it goes.
Picking and choosing ‘players’ isn’t going to give a good selection to find the real problems, as was shown when the ‘closed’ testing of EOTM took place and then most suggestions were ignored anyway.
It really doesn’t matter to me who stress tests the new WvW content, but I find it amusing that only very seasoned players are going to be involved in “stressing” it. That eliminates dead weight, seige trolls, daily achievement guests and uplevels.
Well I guess the car companies hire professional drivers on closed courses to test their product so why wouldnt it work here?
Guys we divided by zero, we got lordkrall and coglin into an argument against each other

In all likelihood, it’s a simple automated system that sorts out players according to their time on “WvW maps”. Which means that most of the invites will go to EotM farmers.

Contacting ‘main NA and EU guilds’ means less than nothing. There is zero benefit to contacting a guild – its about individual players. And they know who was on where and could pick a cross section if thats what they really wanted.
Anet will only invite those that have achieved Yakslapper.
Good luck.
SFR EotM karma train will test kitten out of this map.
It is a great initiative from Anet. Let’s focus and bring forth a better wvw experience in this new map ^^
As for the argument about NA-EU guilds. I’m 100% sure many individuals in those guilds will be picked. Even if it is not the full guild, those individuals from each guild can test it out and give constructive feedbacks with their background as a player from a WvW guild. You don’t need your optimal team composition in a test map.
Just remember the days where you first stepped into WvW. You were probably not into a big guild at that point. Pop your tag and lead pugs, follow the tag, form parties with your guildies and do a guild run on a smaller scale or simply assemble a few individuals and roam!
Play it, enjoy it and give constructive criticism. This is what stress testing is all about ^^
If they invite some GvG circle kitten guilds we all know what their constructive criticism means.
If they invite some GvG circle kitten guilds we all know what their constructive criticism means.
If it in genuinely not constructive, they likely won’t listen to it.
You do not get to decide which players have a right to offer an opinion.
Please do not attempt to devolve a discussion of a highly anticipated expansion, simply because you disagree with other players opinion.
It is classified as a stress test. They need 1000 players for EU ans NA, who fill up the maps for two hours and perform huge zerg fight. Maybe the devs will test new specifications for the WvW servers. I would expect a very unstable and laggy session.
More important will be whether we will see a real extended beta test after the stress test. A four weeks long WvW tournament using the new map would be great to find out the issues the map harbors.

how the hell on earth they gonna find your uniq individual hero?
They may know some bloberrino comandante that takes SM on start on reset and gg.

They should take biggest wvw forum warriors ofc instead, because if they go on forum and cry in walls of text – ofc they care and ofc they are the ones who know this game best.
Anet should take some pro siege players too. Treb cows inside GvG match might increase lag.
I think 3 options are acceptable:
-buy access with BoH.
-give access to ppl with 1k+ WvW rank.
-random drop from events, invaders, lords.

Sadly all those three makes people spending time in EotM much more likely to have access.
The amount of BoH, events and wxp you get from an hours in EotM is waaaaaay higher than in the regular WvW maps. Thus it is rather likely that a beta with those parameters would be rather biased towards the EotM mindset.
Badges of honor at what cost? They’re handed to us in achievement chests. It’s not really fair to do it by rank… Newer players might be very involved in wvw but just haven’t been around long enough to reach 1000; likewise, someone who is over 1000 might not be as active as they once were.
I like the idea of making it a drop (or trade your siege commander spoon for beta access).
Not that this matters much, as they probably already have chosen how to choose active players
Any selection based on ranks/BoH, time spent in wvw/eotm will give a group of players with biased view on the test map.
The selection should be random.

Ye, but if they do it “random like” a lot of pve players will get into map and they won’t test anything wvw related. That is why i suggested only WvW ways to get beta. Same like for PvE beta u can only get it by playing PvE not WvW to let PvErs test it out and not some pvp / wvw players.
Looking forward to the new borderland map. Fingers crossed.
Well i am one of those players that loves WvW a lot, lately not as playing that much cause of an burn out for a bit with the game. I need to say though, if they want a good review and opinion about the new maps and possibilities with it, they should contact communities from different servers, from both low and high tier in NA and EU.
It should be open to everyone, just like wvw is now. Test it under the actual conditions it will face when live. Isn’t the point of a stress test to push it to it’s breaking point so you know your limitations?

Don’t they know already? WvW is all time stress test with lag spikes every day after every new patch By opening beta to all it would burn out their servers( considering that pve and wvwv player will go there). Also WvW test should be up for WvWers only cos they know the point and the way this gamemode working. By putting PvErs there they won’t test anything except how bad their servers for WvW are – something they know already, but doing almost nothing with that.

No that is not the point. It is not always wise to try to test every server at once. It is likely that they want to test one set of servers for a more controlled situation in which they can make changes to se how they effect the situation.

Likely they do not know at all. It is quit possible they are using entirely new server and possibly a new server stricter and systems. As well they are going to have entirely new maps. Everything about the WvW system may very well be new. Could be entirely new net code. There is no reason to discuss this under the blind assumption that they are doing nothing more then plopping new maps into the old system.

Your working under another blind assumption here. Many many players play both PvE and WvW. I do. I run dungeons, do world bosses, then run a guild group of 40 players that evening. Stop blindly labeling.

It’s at breaking point most of the time, in servers community ts i’m continually hearing about lag, ifthey performed any kind of stress test i’m fairly certain their entire server box would blow up.
NC Soft need to put more money back into Gw2 and stop being so kitten tight.
They definitely need roamers in this test as they are the ones most likely to find holes (literally) in the map. We all know about times when players got under the map and popped up again inside keeps and towers and were invulnerable to attacks, as well as numerous exploits, blink and shadow step spots etc. This kind of thing ruins the game for me. The trouble is if it goes on hours in WVW then it is likely to be all zerg drones.
The other thing that worries me is the lag on this new BL. I sometimes have lag so bad that i can’t even get out of spawn, let alone go through a portal or use a skill so given that the new BL has more stuff in it than the existing one, i seriously hope they have addressed the lag.
It is a stress test where they need defined conditions. It will not help when hundred of thousands flood the test server. Probably it will be one copy of WvW maps that can be filled with around 1200-1500 players. It will not run long maybe three hours. I guess the main focus will be on the performance issues we currently have. As soon as these are resolved we will face a real beta test over several days or even weeks. A WvW tournament would be a great tool to thoroughly test the new map.

With the crippling lag we see now and map caps of (roughly, Anet won’t say) less than 100 per server, I think it’s safe to say one copy with 1200 – 1500 players won’t work.

It depends if they want to work with one single map or with four maps to simulate a normal WvW environment with queues. In the case of one single maps 250-350 invites are enough.

You mean that SW grind that anyone could do? WvWers were given just as same chance there as pvers. Anyone who subscribed to the newletter got a chance at getting to first stress test, pvp test was open to all.
Playing wvw doesn’t warrant special testing skills. Most gw2 players stepped to wvw at least once, where would you draw the line “real wvwer” or pver? Ranks? You realise that high ranks are often earned by farming in eotm or zerging, it’s pve in another form.
I have a high rank and still I think the selection should be random.

Well it is easy to ask few questions about WvW that only wvwers wil lanswer. Still with rank system they will get less not WvW oriented beta testers.
Dunno how they’re gonna do it, though hopefully they get the info they need. could it be possible that they select people whom are online in a certain time frame and in WvW reliably?
