i agree.
i don’t want to fight the same jacks and janes week in week out.
since anet is looking into changing colors, might as well also change servers.
will be refreshing to have a chance to experience top tier or bottom tier combat.
Having even match Vs random match up are like two sides of a coin. If we want random match up then we need to be able to handle unbalance match up.

I would prefer Probabilistic Matches.
Every match could happen by chance, but “balanced” (if such a thing exist) ones are more likely.
I’d prefer it if they’re weren’t entirely random. Just add a random seed to the calculated reset score, so that there is a chance for some random variation but you remain ‘roughly’ where you’re supposed to be. The RNG might push you up or down a tier, but you’ll never see T8 hit T1.
I think at this point people would prefer interesting, unusual matchups than fixed tier pride nonsense.

The difference in teirs even from 3-4-5. Is too great for that to be effective

I think random or probabilistic matches will help to balance the servers.
Why should I declare an overfilled server with hours of queues at prime-time my home, if there is no longer a top-of-the-pop match and being there is no longer the only method to meet challenging opponents?
If Vizunah and Vabbi meet in a match, Vabbi will a) not loose worser than against Arbor (because less points is not possible) and b) it will attract a lot of players that will take the chance to steal Vizunah massive ranking points

I don’t think random matches is the answer because there is a big difference between the servers towards the top and those towards the bottom. But I think they do need to not base the matches totally on the rating.
There are viable suggestions in other threads. Such as 1 up 1 down, “seasons”, a playoff type system. Grouping tiers together and switching up the matches.
Or my suggestion – manual intervention.
I know some say then there would be blowouts – kinda like there are now. But there may not be as big a difference between servers near each other (but not in the same tier) as we think. The problem is we can’t find out because they are never matched against each other.
For example, I’m on SBI and I think it would be fun to go up against CD and one of the servers from the tier below us (EB, BP, AR) . Or SBI vs. two of the ones from the tier below us. I don’t think we’ve ever fought them. And I don’t think it would be a blowout. But we’ve never had a chance to see – and with the rating system creating the matches, we never will.
Or heck, SBI, Yak’s and SoS. For a week, it’d be fun to see what would happen.
I also think it would be interesting to see if it were possible to match servers by time zone coverage.
