Q:

Hey, I’ve been thinking of this new WvW map that is coming up in HoT. I can see that there will be deserts, right?

Well, I don’t know about you. But wouldn’t be interesting yet challenging to have Hydration bar? Like, of course. Each and every race needs their water to survive.

What if the hydration bar drops to zero?
No, you won’t instantly die. Attack/movements will be slowed by 5% (Or lower)

Where would I get the water?
Any nearby camp, tower, keep, or nearby water source.

Will the hydration bar effect me on the whole map?
No, only in the desert areas on the map. The oasis in the center of the map will not be affected by the bar.

Extra ideas!

- Water supplies can run out, upgrades (Second worker) will increase the amount of held water and how quickly the water re-supplies.

- Remember the line from Toy Story? “Somebody poisoned the waterhole.” – Woody
How about a shady character? That is randomly located around the map and will move constantly making him or her, hard to come-by.

What is so special about this shady character?
What makes this shady character so special is that, he or she is a saboteur to your enemies. If you pay the right price.

What do you mean by ‘the right price’?
Paying someone to do your dirty work, duh.

How much would it cost?
Gold, of course. But commanders will have more of a discount. By discount I mean, Badges of honor.
Example: Sabotage water supply at Camp for: 5 gold with 35 Badges of Honor.
But if you are aiming for a tower or keep, of course. Its going to cost much more.

What exactly can this saboteur do?
The shady character can enter and leave your enemies camp, tower, or keep without being attacked. (Invulnerability). Sabotaging the water supply: Whoever uses water supply will have their hydration bar decrease more rapid with timer.

(Reason why for timer: I don’t wish people to enter the oasis area only to come back out to the desert area and have the effects gone. I know you people like to exploit things.)

Another effective idea for the saboteur is poisoning will only effect the guards of camp,tower, or keep decreasing attack and defense by 30%.

How can I get rid of the sabotage effects on my camp, tower, or keep?
Have you ever notice those events involving the skirtt or centaurs north of our old map? Well, there is gonna be an timed gathering event to get the cure. But be careful, you are not the only one after this cure.

What do you mean by ‘you are not the only one after the cure’?
Your enemies are gonna be after it too so, fighting for the cure. Makes sense right?
How does that work? I’m glad you asked, you know those Ogre/Hylek camps that help aid you? Yeah it will be sort of like that, by the three bars. Blue, Green, and Red. Whoever finishes the event first, gets the cure.

How can I prevent this shady character, if my enemies are trying to sabotage my camp, tower, or keep?
The only way to get rid of this shady character is that you will have to interact with him or her while they are doing their dirty work.

How can I tell if they are the saboteur?
You can’t, they are disguise as one of your Veteran guards.

How can I catch the saboteur?
I was thinking if the disguised guard is kneeling by the water supply, a visible yet faint powder mist will appear showing he or she is doing something unnatural.

What will happen if I catch saboteur?
You kill the Veteran saboteur, what else? Or should I be cruel and change the Veteran into a Legendary and have it do one-shot kills? Don’t worry your real guards will res you back up when the saboteur has vanished into purple/pink butterflies.

What…The saboteur is a Mesmer?
Yep, how else did you think they can disguise themselves and get away?
